“For me there are few properties that come to the market that compare to this property, it really is a statement property with a first impression that is hard to be beaten”

Manadon House forms a major part of the city’s History, dating back to 1681 the former Captains House has many a story to tell, it is told that the Queen herself was once a guest in the house. With its magnificent grounds this imposing Grade 1* listed Queen Anne property truly is a one off. Accessed via a sweeping driveway, to the left of which is approximately 3 acres of mature parkland, giving the property complete privacy, back in 2003 the property was sympathetically updated throughout to become the house it is today, features such as the galleried landing with its stained glass windows still remain.

First Floor

The feeling of space continues with 4 double bedrooms to this floor. The impressive master suite has a walk-in dressing room and large ensuite. At the other end of this floor is one of my favourite rooms, the bedroom is a dual aspect with floor to ceiling windows all with original window shutters, making this a beautifully bright, spacious room. The room also benefits from its own ensuite shower room. What would have been the servants’ quarters compete the accommodation on this floor, these smaller rooms comprise of a kitchen, small lounge and its own staircase up to a smaller bedroom.

“ The hall and staircase on this property really are something to behold, from the open fireplace on the ground floor and the wide ornate stair case rising through the centre of the property to the stunning granite galleried landing with its stained glass windows it really does have the wow factor”

Second Floor

The second floor comprises of a further 4 double bedrooms, 2 of which have en-suites bathrooms, and a further bathroom suite. All of the principal bedrooms look enjoy views out on to the parkland gardens. Its safe to say the property will accommodate even the largest of families.

“Although there is a development surrounding the property, even in the middle of winter the privacy enjoyed by the property is enviable”

The Seller’s view

“This has been our family home for nearly 20 years, we have a large family and watching the children grow up here has been the most amazing experience, they have all grown up and flown the nest so its time for someone else to love this house as much as we have”

“Christmas Time the house really comes in to its own, we have always had a huge Christmas tree in the main hall with the stair case almost wrapping around the tree and with the open fire lit it just felt amazing”

“over the years we have had tree houses in the gardens, the children have had their own adventure playground, whilst being in the safety of their own home, its been fantastic.”

“Our favorite room – The Kitchen”

The Gardens

The parkland gardens wrap around the front of the property giving the property and are bordered by mature trees giving the property and incredible amount of privacy, throughout the gardens there are mature shrubs and trees and its is understood that 2 of the trees were planted by Queen Elizabeth 11. The gardens are completely secure so ideal for a family.
