“This has been our family home for around 50 years until my father passed away.
He loved to sit in the garden, watching and listening to all the wildlife. A huge part of living in Gowdall were the wonderful neighbours and the community feel of the place."

Gowdall
The name “Gowdall” has an interesting origin. It hails from Old English and is a delightful combination of two elements:
Golde: This means “marigold”.
Halh: Which translates to “nook of land”.
So, when you put them together, Gowdall essentially means “the nook of land where marigolds grow”. Isn’t that charming?
Although the village of Gowdall wasn’t mentioned in the Domesday Book, it did appear as “Goldale” sometime in the 12th century. Over time, the name evolved into the delightful Gowdall we know today.

Selby
The pretty town of Selby is dominated by the superb Abbey, founded in AD1069.
The town is surrounded by picturesque countryside, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat.
Selby is also a great place for outdoor enthusiasts, with plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, and fishing. The town is surrounded by stunning countryside, including the Selby Canal and the nearby Humber Estuary, which is a haven for wildlife.
