CRUISING WITH THE CARDS It was the last day of what has been a very strange school year for students, teachers, and parents alike—but there was nothing but jubilation at Westwood Regional High School on the sunny afternoon of Friday, June 12. Three months after the students had last walked the halls together, pop music blared, sirens wailed, and there was a chorus of car horns and cheers as faculty, first responders, and Township of Washington and Westwood officials gathered to pay homage to the Cardinalsʼ
Class of 2020 during a drivethrough parade. Graduatesʼ families drove in under a massive American flag that was spanning the driveway, courtesy of a Township of Washington ladder truck, and then wound their way through the schoolʼs parking lot. Many of the cars and SUVs were decorated in red and white balloons (the school colors) and signs recognizing individual grads. Some students wore their caps and gowns and emerged through

Their ceremony was canceled, but the six new Eagle Scouts of Westwoodʼs Troop 350 have definitely earned some recognition.

sunroofs to enjoy the showering of praise. The event was live streamed on the Westwood Regional School Districtʼs YouTube and the video can still be viewed there. Westwood High Schoolʼs graduating class will get together again in a couple of weeks. As Gov. Phil Murphy has lifted the maximum number of people allowed at an outdoor celebration to 500 starting July 3, the district is planning an inperson graduation ceremony to be held on July 6.
