Junior School Enrichment Autumn

Term Clubs

2025

Update from the Enrichment Co-Ordinator

We have enjoyed another full year of clubs across the Junior School, with recurring favourites and some exciting new additions such as adventure club, funds raised for St John’s Ambulance through the Soap Making clubs and sewing projects to support those in need globally. We have also seen the creation of our very own racing car from scratch and look forward to seeing how the team fare in their competition at Goodwood.

Having heard your feedback, something we have been looking to develop is the ability to run the clubs selection process for the Autumn term before commencing summer holidays, thus allowing parents and carers to plan ahead with their family logistics and to know what to expect when starting back in September. Thanks to developments in the SOCS functionality, we are now in a position to trial this for the Autumn 2025 selections and hope that this will be a welcome change. We have also increased the number of sports clubs to meet demand in the Juniors, so there should be something to suit all interests across the school.

I wish you all a wonderful summer holiday and look forward to our return and the Autumn 2025 Clubs provision upon our return.

Best wishes,

HOW AND WHEN TO SIGN UP TO CLUBS

SOCS online is an online platform, accessed through the parent portal, in which you can find details of activities, organise your child's calendar and sign up to clubs. Each login is individualised, meaning that you will only see activities that are available to you or your child. New parents will have receive details of their parent portal log in by email near to their start date. You will need to access the parent portal and head to the SOCS icon to begin selecting clubs. Once you have ranked your clubs for each day you should select the 'No more day clubs selected' as this prevents the system randomly assigning any further clubs for your preferences beyond what you have already selected. After the preferences deadline, the system will then allocate activities to pupils, ensuring that every pupil is assigned at least one of their first choice activities across the week. These will be viewable as we enter 'clearing', where parents will be able to immediately sign up to any activity which still has space and remove unwanted allocations. During clearing, activities are immediately allocated based on spaces available. Please note you will not see any allocations until after the preferences deadline.

If your child does not get their first choice for a given day because the club has reached capacity, they will be added to the waiting list and will be prioritised for subsequent terms or sooner if a place becomes available. Further help and tips can be found in our 'SOCS User Guide'.

Key Dates:

Monday 16 June, 8am to Thursday 19 June 12pm th th

Preferences are open for you to make your selections (these will not show up until after the deadline and preference allocations)

Monday 23 June, 8am to Thursday 26 June 12pm rd th

Clearing is open - you will see your child’s allocations and parents may add their child to any clubs with remaining spaces (this will then show up soon afterwards on SOCS)

There is also at least one House day which is given the focus of charitable endeavours; looking to support causes both locally, nationally and internationally. We take pupil voice very seriously and believe that every year group should have the opportunity to be heard.
