EASTLEIGH

OPENING NIGHT MONDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER

WELCOME Welcome to the sixth Eastleigh Film Festival! Once again, we’ve hand-picked a rich mix of exceptional cult classics, blockbusters and a sprinkling of independent British titles that we’ll be screening at a host of unusual venues near you from Monday 23rd to Saturday 28th September. We know how much you enjoy coming up with suggestions for screenings. This year we’re thrilled to include our first Audience Presents night, as nominated by our brilliant audiences we’ll be screening Top Gun at Southampton Airport. We’ve also added two iconic Classic Cinema titles which are simply too good not to be seen on our big screen at The Point, plus we’ll take a look at British cinema in 2019 with Mark Jenkin’s Bait, followed by an insightful Q & A session. As ever we’ll be taking you out into the town and beyond with bespoke screenings in locations to match, with the chance to experience dinner and a movie at The Concorde and scaring you out of your wits with not one, but TWO nights of horror at Itchen Valley Country Park. With a slice of family fun and enough added extras to transform your everyday viewing experience, Eastleigh Film Festival puts the excitement back into going to the movies.

This year, we’re delighted to be bringing a film screening to the heart of the Hamble community as The Royal Air Force Yacht Club have kindly opened the doors to their private garden for a one-night-only film experience by the sea.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Bait’s producer Linn Waite and University of Southampton film lecturer Dr. Louis Bayman.

NT Live: One Man, Two Guvnors (12A)

EASTLEIGH

The Point (SO50 9DE), 7pm Tickets: £11 - £17 (book early for best prices!) Tickets are inclusive of a £1 restoration levy

Featuring a Tony Award-winning performance from James Corden, the hilarious West End and Broadway hit returns to cinemas to mark National Theatre Live’s 10th birthday. Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End hood, now in Brighton to collect £6,000 from his fiancée’s dad. But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who’s been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers.

Chef (15) The Fig at The Concorde (SO50 9HQ) Food served from 7pm, film starts 8.30pm Tickets: £25 (£5 deposit on booking, £20 paid directly on night) Jon Favreau writes, stars and directs this mouth-watering comedydrama about a chef who quits his job at a popular restaurant and opens up his own street food truck. Sharply funny, Netflix released TV spin-off The Chef Show earlier this year, reuniting the hugely talented ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.

Please bring your own torch, chair and blanket to this screening.

The Evil Dead (18) Withnail & I (15)

Eastleigh & District Irish Society (SO50 9FJ), 7.30pm Tickets: £10

One of the greatest (and most quotable) British films of all time, Withnail & I stars Paul McGann and Richard E. Grant as two unemployed actors living in Camden who find themselves hopelessly out of their depth when ‘on holiday’ in the countryside.

Itchen Valley Country Park (SO30 3HQ), 8pm Tickets: £10

Our outdoor horror screenings at Itchen Valley Country Park are back by very popular demand and not for the faint-hearted... Sam Raimi’s low budget horror is one of the most successful independent films ever made, and it’s clear to see why. Combining gore with black comedy and a tightly written script, its impact far outweighs its production values and is rightfully viewed as a cult classic.

FRIDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER

SATURDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER

Quadrophenia (15)

The Secret Life of Pets 2 (U)

The Point (SO50 9DE), 7.30pm Tickets: £10

EASTLEIGH

We’re bringing two cinema classics and cultural phenomena back to the big screen at The Point where they deserve to be seen.

Loosely based on The Who’s rock opera of the same name, Quadrophenia’s gritty depiction of the Mod subculture and their fierce, violent rivalry with the motorbike-riding Rockers earned it critical acclaim and a permanent place in Britain’s cultural identity.

The animated sequel to 2016’s The Secret Life of Pets picks up where the original left off and is just as funny and energetic as Max the terrier has to cope with some major life changes when his owner gets married and has a baby.

Please bring your own torch, chair and blanket to this screening.

A Quiet Place (15)

Itchen Valley Country Park (SO30 3HQ), 8pm Tickets: £10

Back to the Future (PG)

The Swan Shopping Centre – Rooftop Car Park, 8.45pm Tickets: £10

Our outdoor horror screenings at Itchen Valley Country Park are back by very popular demand and not for the faint-hearted...

Meet us up on the rooftop car park of The Swan Centre for our big finish with one of the best and most famous cult films of them all...

For a film with hardly any dialogue, A Quiet Place had everyone talking when it was released last year. Real life husband and wife, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt put in incredible performances in this tense thriller that uses silence to gripping effect.

Quintessentially 80’s yet still beloved today, Back to the Future bundles science fiction, action, comedy and romance into a perfect package as high school student Marty McFly travels back in time to prevent himself being erased from history.
