DR SY LV I A E A R LE The Perfect World Foundation’s Ambassador, ocean expert and ‘The Perfect World Award’ recipient (2017), Dr Sylvia Earle is an American marine biologist, oceanographer, research scientist and scuba diver with more than 7,000 hours underwater. She has been a National Geographic explorer-in-residence since 1998. Earle was the first female chief scientist of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and was named by Time Magazine as its first ‘Hero for the Planet’ in 1998.
