Dear Friends, Greetings from Snyder where the 107th opening day of The Park School of Buffalo is upon us! We begin this message with a big THANK YOU to all in the Pioneer community who supported the School this past year with time, talent, and treasure. It is your generosity and passion for a Park education that makes possible all that happens on the Harlem Road campus and through the many communities in which our students engage.

The dedication of the Knopp-Hailpern Science Center on June 14 was the culmination of an exciting year. Hundreds of supporters and friends came together to see Park’s new science building and the surrounding landscape that is an integral part of the environmental academic program. Watch for a full report on the three part Centennial Campaign later this Fall.

Throughout the 2018-19 year, new Head of School Jeremy Besch shared a vision for Park that embraces the Pioneer spirit that has defined the School since its founding while remaining future focused as a Progressive school giving students the education and skills needed for success in an ever changing world.

In the following pages, we honor the hundreds of donors included in this Report on Giving. Eight decades of Park graduates supported the School last year as well as parents and grandparents of current students and alumni, faculty, staff, trustees, friends, and neighbors. We also had successful FUNdraising events that brought the community together to celebrate Park and provide the resources needed to sustain and enhance this outstanding education for today’s Pioneers.

The Park School of Buffalo Foundation The Park School endowment funds are part of the Park School Foundation which oversees its management and works to grow legacy and endowment giving. The School has been fortunate to have a Board made up of committed alumni, current and past parents, and friends who recognize the importance of an endowment to Park’s long term future. The end of the 2018-19 year saw a transition in leadership. We honor and thank the Foundation Board members who served so ably for many years: President Larry Buck ‘65 and members Don Roberts ‘59, Tom Leed ‘61, Peter Dow ‘50, and Niscah Koessler.

As we begin our 107th year, Park’s foundation board, under the leadership of former Park Board president and Centennial Capital Campaign co-chair, Martin J. Berardi, will focus on financial sustainability to ensure the endowment is providing a greater amount of funding to the annual operations of the School. Our focus will be on ten areas especially for scholarships, professional development, campus and program support. To be successful, we will seek to grow the endowment funds from its current $2.8 million value to more than $10 million over the next 5 years.

The story of Park School is made up of all of your stories, the stories of how Park has changed lives. Park graduates speak of a faculty member who helped them through a tough lesson or time, of opportunities to meet people from all over Western New York and the world, of encouragement to find one’s own voice, and of finding friends for life who share the Pioneer spirit.

The goal of the Foundation will be to ensure the School has the financial resources in perpetuity to help the next generations of Park students write their own stories of how the school impacts them and their futures.

Park’s endowment is held at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo (CFGB) which has a total asset value of more than $485 million. By partnering with the Community Foundation, Park benefits from the opportunity to be part of a larger investment pool while also taking advantage of professional advice and guidance from the century-old CFGB.
