CLOSING KEYNOTE SELF RESPECT: THE FOUNDATION OF LEADERSHIP Keynote Speaker: Drew Dudley, Founder and Chief Catalyst, Day One Leadership In 2010, fresh off delivering what would be voted one of the “15 most inspirational TED talks of all time” and traveling the world delivering keynotes that led one Oxford University professor to proclaim him “the most motivating and inspiring speaker on leadership out there right now,” Drew was struggling off the stage: battling alcohol addiction, undiagnosed bipolar disorder, and a lifestyle that had ballooned him to over 300 pounds.

In this keynote, Drew melds self-care insights with his own story to present six strategies for embedding self-care and building self-respect into a personal leadership philosophy. Over the past eight years these strategies have helped him achieve and maintain sobriety, lose 100 pounds, manage his mental health, and, most recently, process a profound personal tragedy.

A presentation that acknowledges the dark parts of life and work with humor and compassion, this practical exploration of self-awareness, forgiveness, resilience, and healing will remind audiences that we cannot lead others until we can lead ourselves and show them how great leaders know how to put themselves first while still serving others.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS RAMI ARAFAT Division Manager, ParkHouston Rami Arafat, MBA, is a Division Manager for ParkHouston, the agency responsible for onstreet parking in the City of Houston. ParkHouston manages about 10,000 parking spaces, 1,000 smart meters, and 19 off-street surface lots. ParkHouston is also responsible for all aspects of the enforcement of parking codes and the administration of multiple permits.

Rami leads the Customer Service/Administration team. In his role, Rami is responsible for ensuring excellent customer service, leading technology projects, and overseeing the development of the annual $20M budget. Rami’s team is responsible for generating about $3M in revenue each year for ParkHouston.

Rami holds an MBA degree and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. In his 15 years of working for the City of Houston (Five for ParkHouston), he has garnered multiple awards and recognitions. In 2017, the Texas Parking & Transportation Association (TPTA) recognized Rami and his team with the “award of excellence” in the technology category for their work on the 311 (public information system) and T2 systems integration. In his spare time, Rami enjoys spending time with family, playing soccer, and traveling back to his home country of Egypt.

Bains’ efforts have pushed the company forward as a customer-focused and solutions-oriented organization.

JASON BEVIS VP Business Development, National Express Jason Beevis has spent the last 20 years working in the travel and transportation sectors.

Most recently he has worked in leadership roles for National Express, both in the U.K. and the U.S., delivering innovative solutions to encourage more people to use public transportation. These have included ‘Neon’, a crowd-sourced on-demand booking platform and ‘NEXT Connect’, a MaaS technology solution for Transit Authorities here in the US.

JESSICA BRITTON Director, Marketing North America, PayByPhone Technologies, Inc Jessica Britton is an accomplished marketing, communications, and business development executive with more than 15 years’ experience. Working as director of marketing at PayByPhone, she develops and maintains the overall North American marketing strategy to increase adoption, usage, and reactivation of users on a global scale. Challenging the status quo and forging long-term relationships with key partners, clients, prospects, and departments, she strives to go above and beyond to add value and growth to the parking and mobility industry. She is currently a member of the IPMI Media Relations Task Force and IPMI Conference Program Task Force.

SCOTT BURTON Senior Transportation Planner, City & County of Denver Parking Operations Scott Burton is a Senior Planner with Curbside & Parking for the City and County of Denver. He is responsible for managing the Curbside Access Program, a neighborhood planning process that maximizes curb lane resources. He also manages other parking and curbside studies, leads policy efforts, serves as a curbside and parking subject matter expert for city-wide projects, and is passionate about how curbside management can evolve to accommodate emerging transportation options and curb lane uses. Since mid-March, he has led Curbside & Parking’s response to COVID-19 from a parking and curbside management perspective.

CINDY CAMPBELL Senior Training and Development Specialist, IPMI Cindy Campbell is Senior Training and Development Specialist for IPMI. With more than 35 years of experience in law enforcement, parking, and transportation services, she brings comprehensive industry experience to the IPMI training program. She is past Board chair of IPMI and is credited as one of the founders of the Parking Matters initiative. Prior to joining IPMI staff, she was Associate Director of Police for California Polytechnic State University.

REGINA CLEWLOW, PHD CEO & Co-Founder, Populus Regina Clewlow is CEO and co-founder of Populus, a data platform for cities to manage the future of mobility. She has more than a decade of experience in transportation, having served as a research scientist and lecturer at Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UC Davis. Prior to forming Populus, she was director of business development and strategy at RideScout, an early mobility-as-a-service aggregator that was acquired by moovel, Daimler, and BMW’s mobility services unit. She was named one of 40 Under 40 by Mass Transit magazine and the San Francisco Business Times. She has a PhD in transportation and energy systems from MIT, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Cornell.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS HUGO CONTRERAS Supervisor, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Hugo Contreras joined Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport in March 2013 as a guest assistant in the Guest Transportation Operations section of what is now the Transportation Business Unit (TBU). DAVID STEIN Director, New York City Department of Transportation David Stein is the Director of Parking Planning and Policy for the NYC Department of Transportation. In that role, he is responsible for the management and regulatory policies that govern over 14,500 parking meters, 85,000+ metered parking spaces and 25,000+ Authorized Use Spaces with a focus on developing and implementing new and inventive parking solutions to improve the overall management and efficiency of curbs in commercial and retail areas across the City, as well as reshaping the policies that govern such use. In addition, David’s current portfolio of projects puts him at the forefront of many public-facing and transformative curb management initiatives being undertaken in NYC with a focus on technology, innovation and parking pricing.

EMILY WEIDENHOF Director of Public Space, New York City Department of Transportation Emily Weidenhof is the Director of Public Space at NYC DOT working closely with community groups throughout the five boroughs to re-imagine their streets as public space. She’s focused on the role of the public realm in strengthening communities for over a decade, deeply involved in policy, management, legislation, and most recently leading efforts to create Shared and Seasonal Streets in New York City. Emily has worked as an Architect and Urban Designer in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York including at the NYC Department of City Planning. She has researched and edited two publications with The Earth Institute at Columbia University on the potential impacts of natural gas extraction to the Upper Delaware community and on strategies for maintaining sustainable agriculture in the Catskill Region. He leads the city’s Curb Management team, setting policy and regulations for the city’s thousands of miles of curb.
