S P O RT S Both PDHS hockey drop games to Assumption College Paris Panthers Report with George Le Gresley

Girls Hockey The Panther Girls team faced the Assumption team, both tied for first place with 5-1 records on January 15. Assumption opens the scoring with a mad scramble on the net and takes a 1-0 lead. The Panthers take two consecutive penalties and score a power play goal and with 2 minutes left in the period score a third goal to end the period with a 3-0 lead. Three minutes into the second period Reese Halliday passes to Pyper Morley who puts the puck behind the ACS goal line, dropping the Assumption lead to 2. PDHS gets off to a good start early in the third period with a goal by Naren Parker, with assists to Harley Shuart and Scoutt Hergott-Leader. The Panther girls had plenty of opportunities for scoring due to Lion penalties, with Reese Reese Halliday hitting the goal post twice on a power play. Paris had three power plays in the last 6 minutes of the game

and couldn’t take advantage of those opportunities to tie the game. The game ended with Paris pulling their goalie and Assumption sealing the game with an empty net goal and a final 4-2. Boys Hockey The first period featured a fired up Panthers offence, dominating the 1st place Assumption Lions but failing to score. In the second period Paris continues their aggressive offence, resulting on a goal by Carson Brown from a pass off Jacob Adams stick. A minute later, the Lions score to tie the score at 1. With 7:41 left in the period, the Panthers get a 6 minute power play that results in plenty of chances but Paris fails to capitalize. The Lions ended up scoring a shorthanded goal for a 2-1 lead. With 2 minutes left in the period Carson Brown scores for Paris tying up the game at 2-2. With 15 seconds left an ACS attacker breaks in alone and is tripped by a Panther defender. The referee calls for a penalty shot and Assumption scores to take a 3-2 lead at the end of the period. The 3rd period the Panthers desperately tried to tie the score,

pulling their goalie at the end of the period; unfortunately, ACS scored an empty net goal to close out a win with a 4-2 score.
