Motivated by the inefficiency of manual labour in snow removal, Lee's inventive mind began to churn. Drawing on his experience as a machinist and toolmaker, he meticulously crafted a small experimental model of a snowplow, which proved highly effective on a stretch of Highway 2 between the Village of Eastwood and the City of Woodstock. In a mere two hours and 30 minutes, Lee's masterful creation cleared both sides of the road, a task that had previously taken days to complete Lee's snowplow exhibited exceptional prowess in tackling even the most stubborn ice and snow. Its unique design allowed it to pick up snow and discharge it several feet away, preventing drifting.

However, it was A.C. Lee who took the concept of the rotary snowplow beyond the railway tracks and onto the roads. In 1912, Lee, renowned for his mechanical expertise, opened the first gas station in Paris, Ontario, where he embarked on a journey of innovation. By January 1925, while recuperating at his home in Paris from an illness caused by overwork and worry, Lee witnessed a team of exhausted shovelers struggling to clear the Paris to Brantford highway after a severe winter storm in a view from.
