Highschool Hockey: Panthers battle Mustangs in 2-1 loss for boys’ team

By George Le Gresley

The Paris Panthers boys’ hockey team was back in action against the Brantford Collegiate Mustangs at the Gretzky Centre this week. Carson Brown opened the scoring, on a short-handed goal during a penalty kill. The Panthers had a lot of scoring opportunities, but just couldn’t finish a play on the BCI net to add to the score BCI came back to tie the score and the first period ended in a 1-1 tie.

In the second period, Jacob Adam’s had a few good scoring chances, one of them being two inches away from a goal when his shot rang off the goalpost The second period produced no goals and the teams remained tied at one.

The third period started off with Paris goalie, Brendan Seibert (my apologies if the name was wrong), making two good saves on BCI breakaways. BCI broke the tie with less than two minutes left in the game, so the Panthers pulled their goalie to attempt to even the score. Despite the effort, BCI collected the 2-1 win.

The boys return to the ice Tuesday January 16 against Assumption College
