Plan your commute to Saint Mary Parish State Route 34 and County Route 537 intersection upgrades start Fall 2017.

The project will: • • • • • •

Widen Route 34 to six lanes approaching the intersection, including exclusive left and right turn lanes, two through lanes and two receiving lanes.

Widen Route 537 to include an exclusive left turn lane, a through lane, a thorough/right turn lane and two receiving lanes.

Replace the traffic signal and upgrade pedestrian improvements.

Replace the Route 537 bridge located about 120 feet west of the intersection, which was initially built in 1920 and is in serious condition.

Replace the Route 34 bridge located about 400 feet north of the intersection.

Upgrade storm water management, aimed at minimizing environmental impacts in the area.

The project will take about two years to complete once it starts,.

Mass Schedule Change - Standard Time (changes from Daylight Savings Time)

The 5 pm Sunday Parish Mass starts on November 5, 2017 (where the Con irmation Preparation students are required to attend).

The Saturday 5 pm Mass will move to 4 pm on November 4, 2017. Please prepare for these adjustments.

These Mass times are in effect until March 4, 2018.

Sanctuary Lamps Consider donating the sanctuary lamp that burns in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church or Christ Chapel in memory of a loved one who has died or to honor a living person.

These intentions are on a weekly basis starting with the Sunday, therefore a new request will be published each week in the bulletin.

There are a total of 104 Sanctuary Lamp Intentions: 52 weeks of the year for each the Christ Chapel & Church lamps.

THE HEAVENLY BANQUET The mountain of the Lord described in today's first reading is a place where there is no more hunger, no more weeping, and no more division of any kind. We need to pause and ponder these images every now and then, especially given the fact that we live in such a fractured world. These readings describe the heavenly banquet, to which God calls each of us through baptism and continues to call us throughout our lives. Let us "RSVP" to God's invitation and live our lives consistent with gospel values so that one day we will be welcomed to the table of the kingdom.

Quo vadis…

My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time.

God’s invitation to us to share in God’s life, to come to God’s banquet table, is remarkable in several ways. For one thing, it points to the intimate relationship God wishes to have with us. For another thing, it is not an invitation issued only once. Even when we refuse the invitation (sin, or don’t come with the proper wedding garment), God continues to invite us.

This is the good news of the gospel: God always invites and is patient with us. The obvious banquet to which we are continually invited is the Eucharistic table. Our acceptance of God’s invitation is more than getting ourselves there—it is also a matter of participating, of giving ourselves over to God’s desire to deepen the divine relationship with us.

Will we come?

speak during the 9 am Mass and in the evening on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Please make time in your personal schedule for this opportunity of spiritual renewal. It is my hope that these few days will help us to re-focus ourselves as we enter the very busy months of November and December.

During this month of October we continue our journey as disciples of the Lord accompanied by Our Lady of the Rosary. Let us continue to recover this beautiful prayer tradition to help us re-focus ourselves and to give thanks and praise to God. Let us also pray for an increased awareness of and respect for human life from conception through natural death. This is one of the great moral challenges of our time as church. It requires us to set aside bias and to join together to promote laws and policies that support the very dignity of the human person. I am encouraged by many of our young people.

They have great interest in this part of the Christian Moral Life. I hope that their energy continues to transform our society.

Preparations are underway for our annual Halloween Halls. Please consult the bulletin for details on how you might become involved.

After some consultation and reflection, we have offered the position to Mr. David Maliakel of Hamilton, NJ and he has accepted to join our parish staff. He will begin this coming week and will be in a period of transition for a few weeks as he concludes his ministry at the Parish of Saint Gregory the Great in Hamilton Square.

Please join me in welcoming David to our parish community.

It is that time of year when we are preparing for one of our greatest privileges as Americans… that is the privilege to cast our vote. Election day is a few weeks away. Take the time to learn about the issues and the candidates. Should you be away, apply for an absentee ballot in order to add your vote to the tally. Do not allow yourself to become indifferent about voting. Talk to your children about what it means to have the freedom to vote. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer.

The proceeds from the purchases at the Thrift Shop will help The Center provide our mission to the community to serve folks living with HIV/AIDS in Monmouth and Ocean Counties who depend upon us for help.

Each day we are able to provide a hot meal to over 50 people. We are also able to assist folks with their housing and utility bills, provide hygiene and food items. The Center becomes a "living room" for so many folks who live in substandard housing or are homeless. Your support helps make all this happen!

It is my hope that if you have not done so already, someday you will visit us here at The Center to witness first-hand the great work that is being accomplished thanks to you.

The Feast of Saint Francis.
