Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in you will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise you for your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

We are here and ready to share the richness of our faith with you. If you’ve been looking everywhere for answers, and still haven’t found them, we invite you to find out what the Catholic Church offers.
RCIA is a comprehensive process, in which the Church supports and encourages the spiritual journeys of:
• those who are unbaptized and seeking to become Catholic.
• those who are baptized, Catholic or in another Christian denomination, who wish to complete their Sacraments of Initiation (First Eucharist and Confirmation).

The Way of the Cross has its roots in the early centuries of the Church as pilgrims would walk the Via Dolorosa (the way of sorrows) in Jerusalem, tracing the route Jesus would have taken from his trial to his crucifixion. During the 15th and 16th centuries, Franciscans in Europe began to build outdoor shrines to duplicate the experience found in the Holy Land.
While the number of stations has varied widely (as few and 7 and as many as 30) the tradition of saying prayers and chanting at each station has continued through the centuries, and eventually the 14 stations we know today came into fashion. There were still variations, and in response to this, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted the Scriptural Way of the Cross in 1991 as a means of unifying (at the very least) the events which each station depicted.
Therefore, the proper Catholic Way of the Cross has 14 stations, beginning with Jesus condemned to death and ending with the laying of the body in the tomb.
In the Roman Catholic Church, the devotion may be conducted personally by the faithful, making their way from one station to another and saying the prayers, or by having an officiating celebrant move from cross to cross while the faithful make the responses.
There are several published versions of the way of the cross, and we have some available in the chapel on the side altar for your use during Lent. We have also published the times for communal stations of the cross at our cohort parish of Saint Catharine in Holmdel. While the stations may be prayed at any time, Friday is considered the penitential day and when they are prayed most often, especially the Fridays of Lent.
The Grotto Candles are available for your prayer intentions. Offering is $3.00 per candle.

John of God, Religious, 1495-1550
John, born in Portugal, was a soldier in the wars between Spain and France as well as in the war against the Turks in Hungary. Later he was a shepherd in Seville and also served as an overseer of slaves in Morocco.
During the early years of his life, John had given up the Christian faith. But, when he was about forty years of age, John decided to atone for his immoral life by going to Africa to rescue Christian slaves and to seek martyrdom. Instead, he got as far as Gibraltar where he peddled religious books and holy pictures.
In 1538, he went to Grenada and opened a religious goods store. Soon after, he heard a sermon by St. John of Avila that filled him with remorse. He engaged in a public beating of himself, begging forgiveness for his sins and wildly repenting his former ways. For this, he was thrown into an insane asylum. Helped by John of Avila, who suggested that he apply his energies to helping others rather than to practicing the harsh penances that he had imposed on himself, John of God found new purpose in his life. Upon his release – Read More HERE.

“In the beginning I was trying to go it alone. I was reading the Bible by myself, and even though it s a very strong time and emotional time to sit and read the Bible, I learned that you can’t go it alone. You need community. To be part of the Catholic Church is that bigger part that was missing.” – Kyle
Being a Catholic means being part of a spiritual family. Often, it can be your flesh-and-blood family, or it can be a close friend who invites you to “come and see.” As you enter the Church, the parish community and the RCIA Program will walk with you on your journey of faith.
Please prayerfully support…
Tanner Grigoli, Ryder Grigoli, Kimberly and Christopher Cascone as they prepare for the reception of Sacraments for full initiation into the Catholic Church. If you or someone else you know is interested in becoming Catholic or completing their Sacraments of initiation, please contact us at (732)780-2666.
We are looking for teachers for our Summer Religious Ed program. Classes run August 5-16, 2024 Paid positions are open for certified teachers who are alive in their faith. Classes are on Campus.

The Catholic Church in the United States requires of us as baptized Catholics to observe the following: Thedaysoffast(onlyonefullmealperday)andabstinence(nomeat)areAsh Wednesday(February14)andGoodFriday(March29). AllotherFridaysofLent(February16 throughMarch22)aredaysofabstinence(nomeat).
Fast consume only one full meal. Water may be taken throughout the day
Abstinence– consume no meat; this obligation prohibits the eating of meat but not eggs, milk products or condiments of any kind, even though made from animal fat.
Baptized Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast and those from the age of 14 are also obliged to abstain Those who are automatically dispensed from fast and abstinence regulations outside the age limits noted above include: the physically or mentally ill, especially individuals suffering from chronic illnesses such as diabetes. Also included in the dispensation are women who are pregnant or nursing. In all cases, common sense should prevail and ill persons should not further jeopardize their health by fasting.

MyDearParishioners:
Today we celebrate the Third Sunday of Lent. Most of us get lost in the demands of our everyday living. We get up in the morning, spend our day working, prepare and clean up after meals, shop and clean, drive the kids to soccer practice, worry about them, and do countless other things before we fall into bed at the end of the day usuallytotally exhausted. Inthe midst of all this it is pretty difficult to be single-minded about anything except the tasks at hand. Our longest-range goals are maybe saving a little money for a much-needed vacation; sometimes that dream trip is what keeps us going. This gospel dramatically challenges us to keep doing all these everyday tasks but for the right reason: zeal for God. Ultimately, we are to offer up the temple of our own bodies for dying and rising. This is our \daily dying: not necessarily doing something different, but doing what is demanded of us out of zeal for God and the good of others. This is our daily rising: that we have kept our sight on God and have believed the signs of God’s presence tous.
Please join us for daily mass Monday through Friday in the Parish Hall Chapel. We will host our communal Lenten Confessions on Sunday, 17 March at 3:00pm. Please mark your personal schedules now and plan to participate. You should also be receiving the HolyWeek and Easter Schedule in the mail. If you
have not within the next two weeks or so, please contactthe parish office. Make every effort to participate in the Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Services. Personal responsibility is key to continued growth in thespirituallife.
The Way of the Cross is celebrated communally each Friday evening at Saint Catherine, Holmdel. Additionally, there are reflection nooks in the chapel for personal prayer and reflection. The lights go on when someone enters and the heat has been set a bit higher than usual during the unoccupiedsettings. Taketimetoreflecton the mystery of the Lord’s Passion and Death.
Thanks to those who have acted in a responsible manner and made their commitment to the 2024 Annual Catholic Appeal. We need every person to act responsibly in order to assist our diocesan bishop as he strives to pastor us and respond to the needs that exist in our four-countydiocese.
Next weekend we adjust our clocks forward one hour. Don’t forget. Father Pat McPartland will be with us this weekend and I will be at Saint Catherine Parish. Have a great week. Let us remember one anotherinprayer.HappySunday. Peace. FatherJeff

Wednesday, March 13
The snow storm in January caused the cancellation of a very informative meeting, with special guest, Monmouth County Surrogate Judge, Maureen T. Raisch. To quote her: "My primary goal is to help you, especially when you are grieving the loss of a loved one."
We don't like to think about that part of our lives, but it is a realityand it's very important to know how to handle the practical aspects. The Surrogate's Court is a court of limited jurisdiction that handles matters dealing with Probate, Administration of Estates, Guardianship and Adoption, as well as overseeing assets of minors under its jurisdiction for Monmouth County residents. As a member of the Court, Ms. Raisch is well qualified to answer pertinent questions you may have. All women of the parish and our Cohorts are cordially invited to attend this meeting on March 13. Come to the former chapel in the Spiritual Center at 11:30AM for the praying of the rosary, followed by BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch), withrefreshments supplied by the Guild.
The program will begin around 12:30PM
