Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in you will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise you for your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Worship & Music
Andrew J. Macirowski - Pastoral Coordinator for Worship & Music / Principal OrganistWorship@stmaryscoltsneck.org
Music@stmaryscoltsneck.orgDivine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Sunday after Easter, the Octave Day of Easter. It is originally based on the Catholic devotion to the Divine Mercy of Jesus that Saint Faustina Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament reported as part of her encounter with Christ, and is associated with special promises from Jesus and indulgences issued by the Church.
The devotion was actively promoted by Pope Saint John Paul II. On April 30, 2000, Sister Faustina was canonized and the Sunday after Easter was declared as Divine Mercy Sunday.
In the years since, the devotion has grown, with many Catholics reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet as part of their prayers, especially during adoration or in preparation for or after the sacrament of penance and reconciliation.
A growing number of churches hold special services on this day. Votive Masses, penance and reconciliation services, Eucharistic adoration, concerts, liturgy of the hours with the people, etc.
A Plenary Indulgence may also be obtained by: Going to confession, attending Mass and partaking in Holy Communion, to pray for the intentions of the Holy Father, while: In any church or chapel take part in the prayers and devotions in honor of the Divine Mercy. In the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, exposed or reserved in the tabernacle, say an Our Father and Creed.
...in both cases, adding a devout prayer to the Merciful Lord.
This year, we are pleased to offer the following: 12 Noon Mass concluding with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by a period of adoration.
2:30PM - Divine Mercy Chaplet
3:00PM - Benediction
As we continue on our Easter experience, let us remember the Mercy of Jesus. May the peace of Christ be with all.
Peter Chanel, Priest and Martyr, 1803-1841
The Peter was the fifth child of Francis and Mary Ann Chanel, peasants living in Cluet, France. Mary Ann recognized that her son could perform great service to God and she dedicated him to Mary. His education was turned over to the priest in their parish who saw him through his elementary schooling. Peter then chose to enter the seminary where he was esteemed by both students and faculty.
After his ordination in 1827, Peter was assigned to a rundown and lax country parish which, by simply caring for the sick, he completely revitalized in three years.
Peter’s ambition had always been to become a missionary, however, and when the Society of Mary (Marist) order was founded, Peter joined in 1831.
Peter’s first duties with the Marists were not exactly what he had envisioned. His assignment was to teach at the Marist seminary, which he did for five years. In 1836, the Marists were given the New Hebrides islands in the Pacific as area for their - Read More HERE.

“Easter Duty”
The Catholic Church requires of us as baptized Catholics to observe the following: The obligation, the privilege really, of receiving the Eucharist at least once a year --- often called “Easter duty” --- for those in the state of grace should still be fulfilled during the period from the First Sunday of Lent, February 18, 2024 to Trinity Sunday, May 26, 2024. However, the Church’s law does permit this precept to be fulfilled at another time during the year when there is a just cause.

Palm Sunday
Quo vadis for April 7. . .
My Dear Parishioners:
Today we celebrate the Second Sunday of Easter and the Eighth Day of the Easter Octave. More recently this Sunday has come to be known as Divine Mercy Sunday for those who have a devotion to Saint Faustina and the revelation of Jesus made known to her. The remarkable thing about belief is that it always has room for unbelief. Like mystery itself, belief isn’t something we have and that’s it. There’s always room to grow in our belief just as there’s always room for our unbelief. We call Thomas “doubting Thomas” and so he was. Truth be told, so are all of us. There come times in our lives when we are simply overcome by emptiness and absence perhaps the death of a loved one, the painful illness of a small child, or loss of a job. At these times doubt or unbelief are natural. This doesn’t mean we have lost our faith, it means that doubt or unbelief can be metaphors for dying. Like Thomas, when we come to profound belief we know as rising. What moves us from unbelief to belief? Also like Thomas, encounter with the risen Christ. In our times of doubt or unbelief we need to keep our eyes focused on the risen One and, in due time, we know the Lord is with us inviting us to belief.
Many thanks to all those scores and scores who helped to prepare our worship for the Triduum and Solemnity of Easter. Preparing our parish facilities and our community is not an easy responsibility. Those who helped with arranging flowers and plants; those who helped with set up and cleaning; those who prepared the sacristy and the sacred vessels/vestments; those who served in various liturgical and support roles; those who shared their sewing talent…the quiet stewardship of many enable us to offer our very best. We had encouraging attendance throughout the Triduum. It was edifying to see so many people gathering for worship each day. What a wonderfully prayerful experience for us on Holy Thursday and the Easter Vigil as we celebrated the Liturgy. The Good Friday Service and the Way of the Cross call us back as we reflect on Christ’s suffering for our salvation. Your stewardship enables our parish to continue to grow as well as making great things happen in our midst.
His Excellency, The Most Reverend Bishop David O’Connell thoroughly enjoyed his recent visit to pray with our community. He enjoys leading us in prayer and celebrating the Eucharist. I appreciate the bishops willingness to take time from his schedule to visit our parish community. Let us continue to pray for His Excellency as he strives to serve and lead the People of God in our Diocese of Trenton.
Don’t forget that the Spring clean up is this coming Saturday, 6 April 2024. It si a great opportunity to meet other parishioners and help us care for our beautiful 25 acre campus. The date is schedule to comply with the township pick up of leaves, branches etc. Thank you for sharing your time and teaching our children and young people the importance of caring for our environment.
Following the 12:00 noon mass this weekend we will conclude with an indoor Eucharistic Procession from the altar of reservation to the altar of celebration. Eucharistic Adoration will continue throughout the afternoon. Eucharistic Benediction will be imparted at 3:00pm. All are invite to come and enjoy some quiet time with the Lord. Also, the Easter Egg hunt will commence at and following the 12 noon mass this weekend. Many thanks to all those who have prepared this event for our parish children. Thanks also to Mr. Robert Cioffi of the Colts Neck Pharmacy for generously donating candy for this event.
If you have not made your gift to the Church for the Solemnity of Easter, please do so as soon as possible. We will render an accounting to you in the coming weeks. Many thanks to all those who have so very generously participated in the 2024 Annual Catholic Appeal. If you have not made your pledge/gift, please do so as soon as possible. On a personal note, I am grateful to all those who have graciously remembered my birthday as well as those who have sent gracious remembrances to the parish house for the Solemnity of Easter to me personally. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer. Happy Sunday. Peace.

"Colts Neck's Finest" to Speak at the April Martha Mary Guild Meeting
All women of the parish and our Cohorts are welcome to attend the Martha Mary Guild meeting on Wednesday, April 10. An officer from the Colts Neck Police Department will be there to talk about what's going on in Colts Neck and the surrounding areas and to give us very important guidelines on personal safety in and out of our homes. This is vital information, especially as we age and as many women are widowed.
Join us at 11:30AM for the rosary in the "old chapel", which will be followed by BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch), with refreshments and desserts supplied by the Guild.
Another important aspect of this meeting is the voting of our slate of officers for 20242026. The presentation will follow (around 12:30PM).
Come for the presentation and for the camaraderie! You'll be glad you did!!
