Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in you will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise you for your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Worship & Music

Easter is not only a day. Easter is a season. As such, there is much opportunity for repeated musical selections to add to the unified feel of the season. Conversely, much like Christmas carols, there are an abundance of Easter hymns appropriate to the season! So it is here that we enter into a dilemma: do we keep repeating certain hymns and songs or do we take advantage of the rich repertoire of Easter hymns?
Why not both? For the octave day of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday), you may have noticed a repeat of some of the hymns. As we progress through the season, we will use a very well known hymn for several weeks, “Hail Thee Festival Day”, appropriate for the season of Easter, as well as Ascension and Pentecost, as a common processional hymn. Other hymns throughout the Mass change weekly.
There is also the wealth of proper music prescribed for this season. Every day of the week and every Sunday has its own antiphons for the Entrance, Offertory, and Communion, some of which we use at different times (especially at weekday Masses in the chapel), in keeping both with the tradition of the Universal Church and for some variety in the liturgy.

The Chosen airs every Monday 1:00PM, Friday 5:30PM & Saturday 5:30AM

Louis de Montfort, Priest, 1673-1716
Born Louis-Marie Grignion on January 31, 1673 in Montfort, France, this saint was the oldest surviving child of a large family. Even as a young child, Louis exhibited a remarkable spiritual maturity.

At the age of twelve, he was sent to the Jesuit College of St. Thomas Becket in Rennes where he developed a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Awareness of the needs of the poor and the sick also developed during his years at St. Thomas. Together with some of his classmates, Louis spent some holidays tending to the needs of the poor and nursing the sick in hospitals.
At some point during his college days at St. Thomas, Louis became conscious of a calling to the priesthood. Upon completing his studies, a benefactor provided an opportunity for him to study at the Seminary of Saint-Sulpice in Paris. In 1693, at the age of twenty, Louis set out on foot for Paris. Along the way, he gave away all of his money to the poor that he met and even - Read More HERE.

“Easter Duty”
The Catholic Church requires of us as baptized Catholics to observe the following:
The obligation, the privilege really, of receiving the Eucharist at least once a year often called “Easter duty” for those in the state of grace should still be fulfilled during the period from the First Sunday of Lent, February 18, 2024 to Trinity Sunday, May 26, 2024. However, the Church’s law does permit this precept to be fulfilled at another time during the year when there is a just cause.
“

In the beginning I was trying to go it alone. I was reading the Bible by myself, and even though it’s a very strong time and emotional time to sit and read the Bible, I learned that you can’t go it alone. You need community. To be part of the Catholic Church is that bigger part that was missing.” – Kyle
Being a Catholic means being part of a spiritual family. Often, it can be your flesh-andblood family, or it can be a close friend who invites you to “come and see.” As you enter the Church, the parish community and the RCIA Program will walk with you on your journey of faith.

Quo vadis for April 14. .
.
My Dear Parishioners:
Today we celebrate the Third Sunday of Easter. Our belief in the Risen One is not some elite intellectual exercise but an embodied faith expressed in actions. Our faith is seen both in us by our assent to God’s will and in our actions by our witness to repentance and forgiveness of sins. Forgiveness is part of the reality of resurrected life; it is the effect of death and resurrection. We should walk and act like a forgiven people. Repentance-andforgiveness does not belong simply to Lent there, that’s over for another year. It is as much a part of the Easter mystery. Forgiveness is the virtue that enables us not to allow past hurts to determine our decisions and actions in the here and now. Forgiveness opens up the space for creating together with the one forgiven a new future where we can “fall peacefully asleep”. Forgiveness is a resurrection activity. This is how Jesus is known.
Saturday, 6 April was the Spring Clean Up. We had a lot of hands on deck to make our parish campus look neat and tidy. I am a firm believer that the first moment of evangelization is when people drive by, or drive onto our campus. Being neat and tidy is a big welcome to visitors and prospective new parishioners. Remember that this is our spiritual home and we are co-responsible for keeping things in good order. Many Thanks!
As we continue to journey throughout the Easter Season may we be particularly attentive to the proclamation of the Sacred Scriptures. The message is poignant. Jesus continues to be revealed and it is the responsibility of the Apostles and the Disciples to carry on the
mission for which Jesus offered his very life. In some small way we are faced with a similar challenge. We must continue the mission of our forebears who built the church in our midst. Through our faithful stewardship of time, talent and treasure we must be bold in the proclamation of our faith not only with words but most especially in our deeds. The faithful and reverent celebration of the liturgy is the primary way in which we re-commit ourselves week after week. There have been so many favorable comments about the way in which our parish community prays when we celebrate the Eucharist together. From the singing to the hospitality you are the face of our community. I thank you for the positive attitude that you are cultivating. You are helping us to welcome and sometimes re-welcome members to our parish community as new parishioners. May God continue to bless us with a spirit of outreach to the marginalized and to welcome new members to
OUR PARISH OF SAINT MARY.
To all those who have generously supported our Easter Collection 2024 I offer a great big Thanks! To those who have not yet done so, I offer a great big invite to do so as soon as possible. As is our parish custom we will offer a report on this important collection in the weeks ahead. We continue to make progress in our 2024 Annual Catholic Appeal. Thank you to those who have made their gift or pledge. Please join with us in support of our Bishop and the many services and ministries provided throughout Central New Jersey. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer. Happy Sunday. Peace.
