Elmo Lincoln

After all, many in Rochester, especially younger people, are likely unaware of Lincoln’s contributions to the history of American cinema.

And he left Rochester soon after he got out of school. … It was a surprise to us when he did what he did. Everybody was surprised. But I was always kind of thrilled when I saw his pictures, and I saw every one that showed here. People made quite a big thing of it when one of his pictures came to town.”

American Cinema.” It was Griffith who changed Otto Elmo Linkenhelt’s name to Elmo Lincoln.

Many of those attending the Nickel Plate Music and Arts Festival at the Fulton County Courthouse on Aug. 27, and for days afterward, got a good look at the visage of one of Rochester’s most famous citizens: Tarzan, also known as silent film star Elmo Lincoln, or, to his friends and family back home in Indiana, Otto Elmo Linkenhelt.During the festival, sidewalk chalk artist Jeff Pinkinton recreated a press photo of Lincoln as Tarzan, which dates back over 100 years to 1918 when the barrel-chested former railroad brakeman and boxer starred in the first film adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ popular literary creation, “Tarzan of the Apes.”Not only was Pinkinton’s work an impressive example of chalk art, it also showed how public art can be educational as well as aesthetic.

In yet another contrast to modern filmmaking practice, Lincoln actually killed a lion during the making of the film. “The lion was doped and tied up,” Elmo explained. “I was supposed to jump on his back and stab him with a knife.” After an unsuccessful attempt with a blunt bayonet, he was finally able to dispatch the unfortunate animal, named “Old Charlie,” during the next day’s filming. But“Old Charlie” exacted a bit of postmortem revenge. When his carcass was used in a later scene Lincoln’s weight “forced the air out of the lion’s lungs and made a sound like a muffled roar. “I set a new record for the broad jump trying to get away,” said Lincoln.

In his appeal to Israel, Moses urged them to remember the majesty of God and respect the Word of God. He quoted Jehovah’s own words, “Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always” Deuteronomy 5:29. Obedience is always a matter of the heart, and if we love the Lord, we will keep his commandments John 14:15, 2124. There’s no conflict between the greatness of God and the grace of God, his transcendence and his immanence; for we can love the Lord and fear the Lord with the same heart Psalm 2:10-12; 34:8-9. Even though God’s children live under grace and not under the Mosaic Law Romans 6:14; Galatians 5:1, it’s important for us to know the law of God so that we might better know the God of the law and please him. Christ has fulfilled the types and symbols found in the law, so we no longer practice the Old Testament rituals as Israel did. Christ bore the curse of the law on the cross Galatians 3:10-13 so that we need not fear judgment Romans 8:1. But the moral law still stands and God still judges sin. It’s as wrong today to lie, steal, commit adultery, and murder as it was when Moses received the tables of the law at Mount Sinai. In fact, it’s worse, because we have today the full revelation of God’s will through Jesus Christ, and we sin against a flood of light — the Bible. “I will not forget your word” Psalm 119:16b. Read Ron Purkey’s free Bible study outlines at rcpbibleoutlines. com . Purkey has been an ordained Baptist minister for 50 years.

No person receives salvation by keeping the Ten Commandments Romans 3:19-20 & 23. The purpose of the law of God is to reveal the God of the law, and when you focus on him, you find it a delight to obey his commands Psalm 40:8. Moses closed his review of the Ten Commandments by reminding the new generation that at Sinai God revealed his glory and his greatness. The God of Israel is not to be trifled with because he is a holy God. Israel would never again go to Sinai and see the fire, the cloud, the darkness, and the lightning, and hear the awesome voice of God speak from the mountain; but they needed to remember the majesty of their God and the authority of his word.

After two years of planning, lots of organizing and hard work, Sult opened her own practice, Fulton County’s first direct primary care facility, Sult Family Medicine. “Patients coming to Sult Family Medicine can expect to have an appointment when they need to be seen, not weeks later. They can also expect little to no wait for me when they get to the office.”

Dr. Jennifer Sult grew up in the Rochester area, graduating from Rochester Community High School in 1997. After attending Indiana State University and Indiana University School of Medicine, and fulfilling her residence at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Sult returned back to her hometown to practice medicine.

insurance rates with high deductibles; even patients that would prefer more accessibility to their doctor.Sult has created communication guidelines in which her patients have full access to her, even after office hours. “Patients will have my personal cell phone number to contact with issues and I will communicate with patient via phone, email or text, whatever that patient prefers” Sult expressed. “Most things after hours are emergencies, and I want to be there for my patients.”One thing Sult Family Medicine offers that other traditional facilities don’t is significant savings on most labs and many prescriptions. “Members at my clinic receive discounted lab testing and generic medications I dispense direct from the clinic. I will also work to find the best price for medical needs they have that I do not provide.”

Direct primary care facilities bypass insurance companies and instead offer patients health care services with an affordable membership fee.

A few years ago, Sult became aware of the direct primary care model. “I thought to myself, this sounded like the kind of doctor I wanted to be when I was kid and dreamed of being a doctor.” She continued to explain that with this care model she would be able to spend more time with her patients to establish better relationships with them, which, in return, allows her to provide better care.

Sult uses the example of radiology tests; as she does not provide these services, she will take the time to call around and find the best price for her patients.

Crews will be performing bridge maintenance between East CR 875N and East CR 900N. There will be alternating lane closures in the area and traffic will be controlled by a temporary trafficWorksignal.is scheduled to start on or after Sept. 19 and is expected to wrap up by mid-October. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

She worked for Woodlawn Hospital for 12 years, “That was a very good experience, but I did not want to continue working for the ‘fee for service’ world, having only 10-15 minutes for each patient.”

While traditional medical care is widely know, a new model called direct primary care is a different way to think about your health needs.

Another perk is that businesses can enroll employees with Sult Family Medicine. Sult will work directly with employers to provide an inexpensive health care option for employees. Employers receive an additional discount when they are enrolling more that five employees.

For more information regarding direct primary care and Sult Family Medicine, call (574) 223-7858 or visit the clinic 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 710 E. 9th St., Rochester. Parking is available in back of the building off Race Street.

direct primary care practice, that means they don’t take insurance to pay for services. They offer low-cost primary care for those uninsured as well as those with insurance. Sult actually recommends patients to have health insurance for those high-cost care needs, if that become necessary.Withamembership at Sult Family Medicine, the monthly fee includes all the visits you may need, same or next day visits, extended visits when needed, and access to physician by phone, text or even video calls, not to mention the savings on labs and prescriptions.

While they are open to anyone who is willing to pay the monthly fee, which ranges from $35 to $100 a month, Sult created the clinic to help provide patient-centered care.
