Lake City Skiers Water Ski Show Team is Indiana’s only competitive water ski show team. The team is celebrating 32 years of providing fun, family entertainment. A nonprofit organization, the team provides free water ski shows to the public at Hidden Lake in Warsaw. Lake City Skiers was established in 1989. The team doesn’t just ski for fun: it also participates in competitions. The ski team won division II nationals back to back in 2006 and 2007 and again in 2014 and 2016. The team and its members have won numerous awards over the years. The group will be competing in

It’s a
true innovation to the pontoon industry. Lake City Skiers believes in its potential and are ready to test it, according to its website. “We built a new barge this year,” said McLaughlin. “We use it as a starting dock at travel shows and for transporting equipment in our tournaments. We are also using it as part of our show this year for the aquarium scene in ‘Finding Nemo.’” People are welcome to join the team. Practices are twice a week Monday and Wednesday. “We do schedule some extra act practices when preparing for a tournament,” he said. There is increased seating this year, and the site can host about 2,000 spectators, explained McLaughlin. Free shows are at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday at Hidden Lake, located on the southwest corner of US 30 and SR 15, just behind Smith Tire in Warsaw. The last regular Sunday show is Sept. 5. An all-star show is Sept. 11, at Hidden Lake. This is the only time there is paid admission as it is a fundraiser. “We put on a big show,” said McLaughlin. “There will be skiers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan.” For more information, visit www.lakecityskiers.org or its Facebook page.
