He glows : Jonathan Busarow

Jonathan Busarow was raised on music and has been sharing his passion for it with the Fort Wayne community since 2012 when he moved here to accept his position as Executive Artistic Director for the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir. Today, he continues to remain a vital instrument in the process of teaching children of diverse ages and backgrounds the benefits of learning and performing music.

Busarow has always been “impressed with the Fort Wayne community and the arts opportunities it provides.” His position with FWCC gives him the chance to nurture the early relationship between a child and music, helping them to understand music literacy, as well as how to refine themselves vocally. FWCC provides not only in-house classes but works with local music teachers and the Allen County Public Library, as well, and is working on launching a new program through Arts United.

“I want to make sure that everyone in our community knows what we can do and that this can be for them,” Busarow says. “If there’s a kid that loves to sing, then we have a place for them.”

FWCC provides tuition assistance to help eliminate barriers that may prevent a child from participating. With over 250 children from all over the community, the organization focuses on fostering a child’s love and curiosity for music while giving them access to “skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives,” Busarow says. Busarow is also an active member of Rotary, a service organization that works locally, as well as globally. The Fort Wayne chapter recently helped build a heart hospital in India, as well as an oxygen lab. Busarow notes that “the work is so powerful,” and he has been able to make strong connections with local leaders by becoming a member. A husband and father of 4 young boys, he notes that in their free time, his family “loves visiting the Botanical Gardens and the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. My wife and I really love to explore different restaurants and enjoy spending time with friends from church,” he says. “Fort Wayne has fit our family so well, which has been a real blessing.” They are currently working on a home renovation and caring for the newest addition to their family, born just a few months ago. You can see Busarow and the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir’s hard work put on display during their yearly spring concert on Saturday, May 7th at PFW. a he glows
