visits

The VIVALDI team recently enjoyed a heartwarming visit to Cavendish Park, a beautiful care home that is part of the Majesticare group. The home spans over three thoughtfully designed levels, each offering a welcoming and homely atmosphere

One of the standout features is the series of stunning terraces on every floor, perfect spots to relax and enjoy the sunset.

Mel and her team extended a warm and generous welcome to the VIVALDI team, who were also joined by colleagues:

Kate Meacock (Rights for Residents)

Katie Thorn (Digital Care Hub)

Victoria Hall (UKHSA/UCL)

Ruth Endacott (NIHR).

During the visit, the team had the opportunity to present the VIVALDI project to residents and staff. The presentation was well-received and sparked thoughtful conversations among attendees.

The visit wasn’t just about sharing research, it was also a chance to connect.

Over a delicious buffet, the VIVALDI team chatted with residents and their families, hearing personal stories and reflections that brought valuable insight and warmth to the day.

The team left with full hearts and full bellies, grateful for the hospitality and inspired by the community spirit at Cavendish Park. It was truly a fantastic experience, and the VIVALDI team is already looking forward to returning in the future

“Cavendish Park by Majesticare are proud to be working in partnership with the VIVALDI project. We have keen resident and relative engagement and people are empowered to have a voice on how their information is used. This means that care homes can improve infection control, reduce outbreaks and infections and capture learning, all whilst putting our people at the heart of what we do.”

visits

The VIVALDI team had the pleasure of spending a wonderful morning revisiting the fantastic Broadbridge Park Care Home Our previous visit saw residents and staff kindly agreeing to be filmed, creating valuable content for the VIVALDI project to share more broadly.

The VIVALDI team had received feedback from other providers, staff, residents and relatives involved in the project. One common suggestion stood out, instead of having the VIVALDI team always leading presentations, why not include voices of those with lived experience in care homes? This would offer a more personal and authentic perspective on the project’s impact.

Broadbridge Park rose to the occasion magnificently Alongside Kate Meacock, co-founder of Rights For Residents, we were joined by Madge, Ruth, and Donna three remarkable women who truly brought the brief to life with insight, warmth, and honesty

After Alan worked his post-production magic on the footage, we were thrilled to return and host a premiere of the finished film.

The atmosphere was heartwarming from the moment we arrived. Residents, staff, and management all came together to make it a truly special event

It was especially meaningful to have residents, Madge, and Kate and Activities Coordinator, Donna with us to watch the final product. Their contributions, alongside Ruth’s, have helped shape something genuinely unique. And of course, no celebration would be complete without tea and a slice of delicious homemade cake it was a lovely way to end the visit

A massive thank you to Kate, Madge, Donna, and Ruth for their time, generosity, and commitment to this project. Your voices will resonate far and wide, helping others across the care community, see and understand the VIVALDI project from within.

It is a privilege to be a part of the Adult Social Care Engagement Collective (ASCEC) for the VIVALDI Social Care (VSC) Research Project. When I first heard about VSC two years ago, my initial reaction was, how come this is not already happening? Having now learnt about all the hard work that has gone into getting the pilot to a point where data is being collected, I understand why The coproduction needed, the levels of protection, ensuring that data is safe, the many different organisations involved to get the processes started, it sounds simple, it is far from that.

The ASCEC is formed of a complete cross section of all involved in the project, from academics and policy makers through to the care providers, families and most importantly residents living in care homes

We meet monthly and together have helped shape the information that goes out, ensuring it is relevant to all we represent We have asked questions such as:

“What is in it for residents?

Will identity be protected? Do they have to take part? How much work is involved for the homes?”.

And now we are looking to the future, how the findings will be presented and made available, as well as asking what care homes residents and workers would like them to look at, to enable all to share best practices, help keep infections controlled and care homes open As well as the monthly meetings, a small team of us go out to see care homes, speak to residents, families, carers directly about the project These are always enlightening, throwing up new questions, suggestions and the opportunity to learn exactly what people would like from the project, all are excited to be a part of it, in helping shape the future.

For me personally, having watched the deterioration of my mum through double glazed doors for a year, watching care home workers struggling, it was devastating.

Going forward, if the information on preventing and controlling infections can come from data of those living in care homes, which are after all unique settings, then hopefully this will never happen again. The project is also helping pave the way to carry out more meaningful and inclusive research in social care, being led by all involved in social care making the future of social care research an exciting place to be

The field of research within Social Care continues to grow rapidly.

This channel looks to showcase how easy taking part is and the benefits of participation.

Episode 12 - The DACHA Study part 1

Welcome to this episode, where we dive into another ambitious project shaping the future of social care in the UK the DACHA Study. DACHA, short for “Developing research resources And minimum data set for Care Homes’ Adoption,” is a groundbreaking national research program aimed at creating a consistent, evidence-based approach to data collection in care homes

In this episode, we’ll explore how the study is helping to build a minimum dataset that supports better decision-making, improves resident outcomes, and enhances research and policy in the adult social care sector We’ll hear from those involved in the study, uncovering how DACHA is bringing together fragmented data systems and laying the groundwork for a more integrated, transparent, and personcentred care model.

Episode 13 - The DACHA Study part 2

What does it really mean to live a life worth living in a care home? In this powerful follow-up to our first DACHA Study episode, we go beyond data and dive into what truly matters: quality of life

Join the movement The sector is encouraged to engage with researchers to co-create a shared language for quality of life in care. The DACHA Study is building the evidence base but it’s the people on the ground who will bring it to life.

Because care should be measured by more than clinical stats it should reflect the lives people want to live
