The Adult Social Care Engagement Collective seeks to include a broad spectrum of stakeholders from across the social care sector (including users, providers and commissioners) to ensure that research is driven by the sector, for the sector

"It's wonderful to feel like we're contributing to something bigger,"
We were delighted to receive a message from Jovelyn, the VIVALDI lead at Lonsdale, who shared with us that on the 10th of December 2024, they streamed the Vivaldi Webinar in their lounge, which was attended by a number of residents, staff, and relatives. Feedback at the meeting was very positive. Viewers found the VIVALDI webinar to be an informative session, and residents and families alike expressed their gratitude for being part of this groundbreaking study. They were united in their commitment to reducing infections and enhancing the quality of life for all. The experience reinforced the idea that together, they could make a difference and that their voices mattered in shaping a healthier future.
Deborah Leeson-Smith, Health and Safety Manager and Infection Prevention and Control Lead at Risedale at Abbey Meadow, shared her pride in the VIVALDI Leads across all Risedale Nursing Homes, stating:
“I am very proud of the VIVALDI Leads in all Risedale Nursing Homes and the work they have been doing to inform residents, their families, and staff of the VIVALDI Social Care research project.”
Some homes have hosted well-attended ‘tea and cake’ mornings, sharing animations, website information, and details about the study. The project is now part of Infection Prevention and Control inductions and updates, ensuring all staff stay informed and can communicate effectively with residents and families.
On December 10, 2024, residents, family members, and staff from Lonsdale Nursing Home joined a project update via Teams, while two Risedale Nursing Home residents attended the latest ASCE session and wish to continue participating.
Residents feel "honoured" to be involved in research aimed at reducing infections and improving lives. They found the sessions highly informative, answering key questions about the study. One resident shared, "It's wonderful to contribute to something bigger. By being part of this research, we’re helping to keep ourselves and others safe." Families echoed this sentiment, grateful for the opportunity to support their loved ones.
Engaging care home staff, residents, and families through coproduction fosters innovation and meaningful progress in care. Open dialogue ensures all voices are valued, creating more responsive and compassionate services. By working together, we can build stronger, safer, and more supportive care communities for the future.
