I have pleasure in presenting to you the 5th issue of Dog Winner World (July 2016) It was my dream to create an All Breeds Magazine which features some of the top dogs from different countries around the world. And this is becoming a reality. Thank you to everyone who has bought into this dream - the designs are stunning and in a class of its own. The dogs are some of the very best. I trust that the magazine will go from strength to strength. As Pat de Coning said: “Its the place to advertise!� I believe we are different to any other dog website or magazine and why advertise locally if you can adverise internationally? At some point in time any magazine would charge for advertising space and Dog Winner World is no different. Up to now advertisers paid for the design of ads but nothing for advertising space. We are planning to keep the costs low and will advise you in the next month how we will go about this. I thank you for your support and wish you success in the ring!

A dog with no tail
This is applicable to Bulldogs and French Bulldogs. A judge recenrly withheld the Challenge Cerificate in French Bulldogs because the dogs in the ring had no tails. I have asked the question in a discussion group “Is a dog without a tail a dog?’ These are some of the responses: I think we can say that those who have been in the breed for some time have pretty much seen them all and or bred them all. Well except that I have never bred a Bulldog without a tail. A tail can be one vertebrae. And it is a tail. How much emphasis a judge places on a dog without a tail per say depends on the overall quality of the dog. I would have done the same if the Standard lists tailessness as a DQ. Why would this Judge be in the position to withold a CC in the first place? Were the other entries that bad? Put in his place, I would have excused the dog for lack of merit and awarded BOB to a well balanced dog without Disqualifying Faults. I‘ve answered several all breed judges that have asked this very same question by saying, “ Let’s suppose the AKC banned docking dogs tails just like The Kennel Club did along with UK vets, and you are judging Old English Sheepdogs that now have tails (possibly of all shapes and sizes/carriage etc) and a Naturally born tailess OES comes into your ring. Knowing yourself that a OES can be born without tails (or at least a very short tail similar to one that has been docked, and these dogs have always been prized by the OES breeders) If you DQ him on the basis that he has been docked you would be wrong, he hasn’t. Most judges are not vets and therefor not qualified to distinguish docked or not. The all breed judges usually agree with this thought, so I then ask, “If it is OK for OES why not bulldogs, please don’t lose a good dog for one fault. So yes, of course it’s still a dog.
