Letter from the President and CEO AND BOARD CHAIR
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
In our last annual report, we made a promise to continue the work we’ve done to forge forward together with purpose, alongside our partners. We took that momentum of Forward Together and paved Pathways to Progress
In this year’s annual report, you’ll notice the impact of this approach as we leaned into seeking new ways to support our partners. Building on our commitment to local healthcare, we partnered with the Suffolk Foundation to award the second annual Healthcare Pathways Scholarship awardees and encouraged past recipients to return home and provide compassionate, high-quality care to their community. We remain committed to supporting partners that alleviate hunger, foster opportunities for recreation and fitness, and build community spaces that encourage movement and connection. For a third time, we renewed our partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence to deepen our shared commitment to support local nonprofits. These efforts have shown us how essential collaboration is to progress.
Within our Community Engagement grant section, a new category has emerged—our Collaborative Community Engagement grants. We’ve been deeply inspired by our nonprofit partners’ commitment to working together. Their impressive efforts have moved us beyond admiration and into meaningful action, motivating us to embrace partnership opportunities that advance shared goals. In 2024, we came together with three of our peers to pilot a new approach grounded in trust. By simplifying the application process and easing the challenges faced by those seeking funding for community projects, we strengthened the support and resources provided to nonprofits. We hope to continue growing this opportunity with other peers and look forward to driving greater impact through collaboration.
This year, we’ve included video storytelling that features the groups and individuals who are part of this important work. We invite you to scan the QR codes and follow the links throughout these pages and hear their stories firsthand. It’s our hope that these voices help you truly see and feel the tangible good we are creating. Thank you for believing in our work as we continue to pave Pathways to Progress.
Sincerely,

R. Battle Betts, Jr. President and CEO

Pathways to Play PLACES TO THRIVE
Every community deserves places where people can connect, play, and live well. The Healthy Spaces grant brings that vision to life by funding accessible facilities that promote active lifestyles and access to healthy food.
