Full Life Festival Saturday at gym The Full Life Festival, a celebration of health and wellness in Florence will be held Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pearl Moore Gymnasium. Admission is free. Some 50 exhibitors from around the Florence community will have booths set up. There will be boiled peanuts hot from McCall Farms, recipe giveaways, fitness (yoga, tai chi, Zumba and fit & strong) demonstrations, outdoor equipment demonstrations, numerous health screenings, diabetes counseling, lifestyle coaching, healthy school lunches, spiritual and emotional health resources, and exhibitors promoting active living like Girls Scouts, Pee Dee Healthy Start and Phil’s Bicycle World. There will be numerous giveaways and door prizes. A complementary meal will be provided by Clean Eatz. The new City Center Farmer’s Market, located across the street from the gym, will be open. Customers will be able to buy locally grown fruits and vegetables, local, pasture-raised beef, pork, and chicken, milk, butter, cheese, handmade crafts, fresh breads. The market accepts the SNAP EBT cards and WIC and senior vouchers. The Pearl Moore Gymnasium is located at 500 Barnes St.

Central UMC women to hold fundraiser The United Methodist Women at Central United Methodist Church in downtown Florence will hold their 17th annual UMW BBQ Fundraiser on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. You can dine in at the church, take out, or schedule a lunch delivery. Deliveries are available for orders of 10 or more plates. Dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (no deliveries during dinner). The fundraiser will be catered by Schoolhouse BBQ. Tickets can be purchased at the church office, 265 West Cheves Street or through any UMW member. Adults can purchase a ticket for $9 and the plate will include BBQ, rice and red gravy, sweet potatoes, slaw, bread, and cake. A hot dog plate is available only at dinner for children who are dining in for $3. All proceeds from the fundraiser go to local missions including Lighthouse Ministries, House of Hope of the Pee Dee, Epworth Children’s Home, Pee Dee Coalition, Rural Mission, SNAC, Killingsworth, The Wesley Foundation at Francis Marion University, Santahatchie Christmas
