Vegreville Radiothon blows away expectations!
One of many donations that helped the Radiothon reach close to $60,000. The Vegreville Hospital Ladies Auxilary donated $1,200. In no particular order: President Marlene Roth, Phyllis Tarapacki, Treasurer Jane Tennat, Secretary Yvette Pedersen, Past President Phyllis Warburton, Marie Wispinski, Marion Baxandall, Marion Lemiski,Winnie Zakordonski, Dr. Dan Edgcumbe, and Councilor Taneen Rydyk.
Joe Machney Reporter After many months in the planning stages and much effort from a variety of businesses and community members, the day of St Joseph’s General Hospital Vegreville Radiothon, November 18 started bright and early at 6 in morning and ended at 3 in afternoon with Mayor Myron Hayduk having his mustache
and head shaved and donated which he promised to do if they reached $40,000 to build a Medical Simulation and Clinical Skills Training Centre to improve care in the community of Vegreville. The training centre will allow rural emergency and trauma physicians, healthcare providers and first responders stay up to date and current in the best practice for trauma
and emergency care. They accomplished this goal and surpassed it by a considerable amount nearing the $60,000 mark before the clock struck 3 with a total of $58, 065. Live on location were the hosts Jamieson Brown from Country 106.5 and Dr. Daniel Edgcumbe who both played an integral part in
