Fluid and languorous. Natural motion without distracting drama. Tension without pretense. Opulent layers and visually arresting depth. Texture that demands your interest and keeps it.

Cori Maxine paints art that catches the eye, captures your interest, and compels you to re-engage time and again with the imagery, shapes, and juxtaposition of colors and media. You can’t walk past one of Cori Maxine’s paintings without taking notice, and that is what has finally led her to make her art available to the public.

Cori Maxine’s background is as varied as the different materials she uses to paint and create art. At Ithaca College, her art minor took a backseat to a major in broadcast journalism. Her interest in documentary filmmaking gave way to a career in teaching, and then to a career in marketing and eventually a highpowered role as Chief Operating Officer of a law and consulting firm.

After raising a family, Cori Maxine made time for her art again. Landscapes, figures, and florals were too disciplined, and finally she gave voice to her unrestrained creative impulses with a style that is evocative, compelling, and exuberant.

While many an artist can lay claim to an angst and drive borne of childhood or early life traumas, Cori Maxine’s art isn’t so much a product of her trials as it is a result of her journey to learn from them and transcend. Rebirth. Letting go. Moving forward. Discovery anew.

CORI MAXINE
Cori. Maxine. Art.

Cori Maxine started to accumulate an inventory of works around 2012-2013, which her husband would frame and hang in their Philadelphia home even before the acrylic had dried. Well after they ran out of walls, Cori Maxine continued to paint. Their home was a salon for gatherings, and friends insisted on commissioning pieces after they were captivated by various works on the walls.

In 2017, Cori Maxine and her family moved to Westlake Village, CA, again selecting a home with plenty of blank walls to showcase the growing collection of her paintings in various sizes and media. Up went the art, in came the friends, and again came the requests to buy pieces and commission originals. Seeing lightning strike twice, Cori Maxine was finally convinced that art should be shared to be truly appreciated. In 2019, after much pushing and cajoling from friends, family, collectors and art-world experts, she decided to publish a catalog and make her works available widely. That decision has not been an easy one for Cori Maxine, but it’s hard to explain her reticence to sell her art to the public. Maybe it’s losing control, but losing control is good. Happily hoarding doesn’t spread the happiness around. Maybe it’s that she isn’t good enough, but don’t most artists think that at some level? Maybe others won’t see in her art what she does? But, letting go and inviting others to interpret is part of the joy of creation. Maybe she feels like each piece is never done, but they are done enough. Maybe people will judge her, but maybe she’d be judged for never taking a risk. Anyway, it’s time because it’s never time. No more excuses. We hope you are compelled by Cori Maxine’s first collection, “Authentic”. Originals, prints and private commission available.

Studio visits are by appointment only. Please call or email to set a visit. I will also travel to you. Originals and prints are available. If you do not see an original painting that resonates with you or your client, you can commission a painting.

WHY COMMISSION A PAINTING?

• You love a certain painting, but the size isn't right or it's already sold.

• You need specific colors for your space and the work I have available does not have those colors.

• You are looking for an entire collection of paintings for your house, restaurant, hospital walls, or corporate offices, and you want the work to be cohesive in color scheme and/or design. Each piece has meaning to fit in your modern, contemporary design. Or, use my paintings in your traditional home as a counterpoint. An original piece is a reflection of love and passion. It can be a story of the family in the home or the history and architecture of the space. Learn the story behind the piece or even be a part of the story. Each of Cori Maxine’s abstract, bold pieces is a celebration of the space and the client. Her paintings dance in the space, becoming a focal point that never fades to background.

AN OVERVIEW OF THE COMMISSION PROCESS

After discussing your exact needs (colors, substrates, textures, sizes, desired delivery time), I visit my client’s space, often in person, but virtually, too. After, I begin the initial phase with chosen colors. We will then communicate about design and composition. After this is approved, I continue to create. I will show you a progress shot, if you desire, at about the 75% completion mark, but can also provide video of the creation process. At the 75% point, only very small revisions are possible (i.e. "a little more blue here, a few more areas of depth there"). Once the piece is completed, no further revisions are possible.  Commissions require a non-refundable 50% deposit. The remaining 50% is due before the painting is shipped, picked up, or delivered in person . Payment must be cleared before shipping.
