Greetings! “Thanks, be unto God for His unspeakable gift” (2 Cor. 9:15). God’s unspeakable gift to mankind is our Savior, Jesus the Christ, the LORD. He, and He alone, is the ultimate answer to reaching lost mankind. Grace and peace be bestowed upon each of you from the Lord.

And so, the month of February is now behind us, but the continual sharing of African American history will be our ongoing effort year-long. I contend the majority people of this nation have done an effective job on the minds and spirits of the Black population through the generations, meaning hundreds of years. This effect cannot be overcome in a month of 28 days-time.

I am thankful for the research done during our Moments in Black History. We have had glimpses of some lesser-known heroes of our history beyond the standards of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Thurgood Marshall, and the like. There are so many more than the usual names. Our history and heritage is replete with thousands and thousands of heroes who did remarkable things while facing the challenges of opposition. We must respect and give honor to their achievements.

I warn us, as a people, though, that we are becoming less spiritual and faithful than our ancestors. We have more possessions than they had before us. We can enter and access places which they could not imagine. But they had more faith in God than this present generation of African Americans. Church connection was expected as a way of life. Church was the only institution which truly belonged to the generations before us. Church was the place where Black men and women could have unquestioned dignity. Church was where Blacks could be leaders in the community without fetters, or conditions. In those days, going to church meant they were going somewhere which called for them to dress in their best. Church was where our ancestors could shed the uniforms of labor and servants and put on suits and dresses, and be “somebody.”

However, I fear that as we have progressed in many ways, we have regressed in some very important ways. Our people were not then so publicly profane and vulgar. Our families from which we came were solid and firm. Men and women married and raised children together. Men and women worked for their living. They were not too proud to work jobs wherever jobs might be found. And if that job did not pay sufficient compensation, they would take another job to supplement their wages. If they did such things in their day, we can do likewise in our day.

Call-In Prayer Warriors Ministry

1 John 5:14-15 says, “This is the confidence which we have before Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask Him, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.”

The Sisters of the Call-In-Prayer Warriors Ministry held its first successful prayer conference call of 2025 on Tuesday, January 21st at 6:00 p.m. The Sisters were on one accord, basking in the presence of the Lord as we lifted up the name of Jesus.

Prayers were offered up for the needs of many who made requests; for health issues, bereavement, leaders (locally and nationally), our country, and the devastation in California. As we prayed, not only did we recognize our inadequacies and our need for a holy God; but we had the privilege of experiencing the divine enabling power of the Holy Spirit. Recognizing that faith is the key to effective prayer, we the members of the Call-In-Prayer Warriors Ministry believe that continuing our prayer conference calls is a necessity and we invite others to join us. Prayer helps us understand God’s will, it strengthens our convictions, and it brings us closer to God.

We will have prayer conference calls in April, July and October with specific dates shared as determined. And the Prayers continue……… Sis. Mildred Riley, Dorcas Circle CoChairperson

“We LOVE Giving and Serving Others”

The sisters of Dorcas Circle met in January for brunch planning how to continue giving and serving all residents at Pflugerville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pflugerville, TX. We are actively involved with teaching Bible Study, providing gifts for Bingo, donating cupcakes and other items requested for monthly birthdays and other activities, and assisting with the preparation of a Residence Library. We are working with an amazing Activity Director, Ms. Edna Johnson. We are absolutely blessed in return and look forward to our continued partnership at the facility. We have most recently begun providing snacks for a kindergarten class at Delco Elementary School. This giving has become more of a treat to us than providing them with treats. God is blessing us through giving and serving others. We give God ALL glory and praises for allowing us to be an inspiration to others. Circle Chairman, Jackie Ealey, is providing spiritual leadership that ensures this circle continues “Moving from Mission, to Message, to Ministry… Educated, Equipped, and Empowered to Impact the World”. Dorcas Circle sisters faithfully hold bi-monthly meetings at 10:30 AM on Tuesdays, traditionally, in the homes of members. We remain God-focused through a lesson each meeting and planning or reporting activities that ministers to others. Dorcas Circle is comprised of sisters that enjoy fellowship time and showing love towards each other.

In the Star Trek television series/movies, they have a saying, “to boldly go where no one has gone before.” This is in reference to searching the galaxy for new civilizations and things never seen before. To Boldy Go. The word boldly means “in a confident and courageous way; showing a willingness to take risks or in a manner so confident as to be presumptuous.” To take that bold step when you don’t even know what the next step will be. To Boldy Go, not with fear or anxiety but with confidence.

This is the way we need to go before God! We need to be bold in our prayers. Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) states, “ Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.” Sometimes we can boldly go before God for our friends, family, church, and just about anyone else but ourselves!! We can pray boldly to God for others but when it comes to ourselves and what we may need or go through, we shy away from having confidence not really believing He can do for us what He has done for others. Its like we forget that that the same God who healed them, is the same God that can heal us too. The same God who helped your neighbor is the same God to help you. If we can pray for others with determination and boldness, we need to pray for ourselves the same way. Acts 4:31 (NKJV) states, “ And when they had prayed, the place where they assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”

We need to know God and know what His Word says so that we can boldly go before His throne with our petitions. There is that saying, “the more you know the more you grow.” It is so true. The more we know about God, the more we can boldly go before Him. Don’t be afraid to talk to God, don’t be afraid to ask God for any and everything, and don’t be afraid of His answer, just Boldy Go!!!

The Bible describes hope with a metaphor. Hope is the anchor of our souls. Our souls are not tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. We have stability in our lives because in the midst of the tempest there is an anchor. And that anchor is the hope that God has placed in our hearts. It is a hope that carries with it, God’s assurance. It is a hope that cannot fail. To God be the Glory!
