SMALL SCHOOL BIG DREAMS!

SOMETHING FROM NOTHING

BUILDING on the success of our K-8 Academy campus, administration and parents worked to expand MOT Charter School to the high school level in 2014. The Class of 2018 put on display our core values of COMMUNITY, RESPECT, COLLABORATION, INNOVATION by starting their high school years in a modular building in the parking lot of our lower school campus. During that year they shared gym & cafe’ space with K-8 students, created clubs & hosted the first homecoming dance. They pioneered the way for generations and continued to set the tone of what it is to be a Mustang once the High School campus opened the following year

In the 10 years our high school has been in operation, students have gone on to colleges/universities around the world. They have chosen to serve in their communities and in our military, opened businesses, and even come back to teach in the classrooms where it all began.

COVER STORY INTERVIEW

Celebrating a bright future!

As a father, baseball coach, and teacher, Mr. Dan Schimpf has used this quote often. After over 20 years teaching in large districts, Dan came to MOT Charter in 2021 to lead a small program into a big future His students didn't disappoint

“I was fortunate to be born into a family of musicians, which meant I was exposed to music of every genre at a young age. Today, it's a passion I now share with my own child. To take this personal passion and share it with my students, to do this for a living, is a gift. I wake up every morning excited to go to work and witness the tremendous musical growth of my students The best parts of my day are supporting all the students who are here because they are driven to express themselves through music MOT Charter's music program supports students at all levelsfrom those who are new to making music to high school seniors preparing to become college and professional musicians - and helps them strive to perform at the highest level Many of our students have been selected to All-County, All-State, and even All-Eastern Regional honors bands, choirs, and orchestras, performing with the best of the best among high school musicians In the last two years, we were one of very few high schools to send multiple students to the Governor's School for Excellence in Music Most of our graduates continue to make music at the highest level in college, whether majoring or minoring in music, or performing in college ensembles.”

Music is central to teen life While most enjoy listening, those who pursue formal music studies find it to be a valuable outlet and a bridge to future opportunities Participating in high school music programs fosters artistic expression, enhances teamwork, discipline, and cognitive skills, preparing students for a harmonious future At a smaller school like MOT Charter, we are able to work closely with every individual student to help them reach their musical goals. The needs and desires of individual students are considered, as the students shape the direction of the music program in collaboration with the teacher. Whether they intend to pursue music as a hobby, career, or side job, the close-knit family atmosphere of the MOT Charter Music program can get them there!

MUSICPATHWAY
“My goal as a high school music teacher is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every music student feels safe, welcomed, and valued as an individual. Together, we foster a sense of community, where each student's unique talents and aspirations are celebrated.

Through collaboration and mutual support, we work as a team, helping every student achieve their fullest potential and meet their musical goals."
GRADUATION DAY!
"Excellence knows no size limit; it thrives in the smallest notes of life's symphony just as brilliantly as it does in its grandest crescendos."
