A message from the

Superintendent Scoring in the top 5% of districts, Carter County has established a reputation for excellence throughout the state. Over the past several years, hundreds of educators have come to our district to learn what they could do to provide better opportunities for students across the Commonwealth. Most of Supt. Ronnie Dotson these visitors affirm what we know to be true; our teachers and support staff are the best! The dedication and commitment to the success of the students in Carter County is evident in each of our schools.

Many changes are taking place in Kentucky's educational system. While the measures of success may look different this year, our commitment to excellence is unchanged. We realize that a good education can make a world of difference. The Global Partnership for Education website contains the following quote, "Girls and boys who learn to read, write and count will provide a better future for their families and countries.

With improved education, so many other areas are positively affected. In short, education has the power to make the world a better place." What an awesome privilege and responsibility our employees have to work in a profession that can make such a positive difference.

Education is a partnership between students, parents, schools and community.

Working together, we have the opportunity to impact the lives of our children. According to research, "When schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more."

There are many opportunities to be involved in our children's education. I encourage everyone to find ways to participate in fulfilling our district's vision of being "The Standard of Excellence."

Truancy Kentucky law recognizes the value of regular school attendance, requiring that all children ages 6 to 18 attend school. Children under the age of 6 who are enrolled in school are also subject to compulsory attendance laws. It is the parent's legal responsibility to enroll their children in school in accordance with the law.

Truancy is defined as an absence from school without permission.

What is a truant?

Any student who has attained the age of six (6), but has not reached his/her eighteenth (18th) birthday, who has been absent from school without valid excuse for three (3) days or more, or tardy without valid excuse on three (3) days or more, is a habitual truant.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for allowing us to share with you in the education of your child. Please pray with us as we seek to instruct your child in the coming year.

Carter Christian Academy has gone through some tremendous changes over the course of the summer: • We now have partnerships with both KCU and ACTC so that our High School students will be able to take college courses through their Dual Enrollment programs.

• Enrollment has hit the 100 mark and overtaking it each passing day.

• We have added a 2 year old classroom to our State regulated Preschool program.

• We welcome several newcomers to our staff including Jessica Sexton- Preschool Teacher, Ashley Rogers- Preschool Teacher, Hannah Carter- Supplemental Instructor, Melodie Carter- School Counselor and Becky Yates are our new Preschool Director.

• We have finished renovating 3 new classrooms, and have only the floor, emergency exits and bathrooms to complete before opening the Historic Hitchins Gymnasium. We have

never been closer and we expect all work to finalize before the holidays!

We are amazed at the work God is doing in our school.

Carter Christian Academy seeks to provide a quality education in the context of an atmosphere that honors the Lord. Based upon God’s Word, the faculty strives to teach every subject from God’s perspective. Our focus this year is on remediating those areas of academic weakness pertaining to our testing results from last year. Three staff members will be focusing on that sole task, ensuring our rigor is competitive with local schools. However, we do not want to simply compete academically but strive to consistently raise the bar concerning rigor.

We look forward to an exciting school year.
