Community Foundation supports Early Learning Group T
he Roxby Downs Community Foundation capped off its first grant giving year with a donation of $5,000 to the Roxby Early Learning Community Group. The Foundation’s Chairperson Michelle Hales said, “The Foundation is pleased to support the Early Learning Group’s move to new premises. Our funds will help the group purchase equipment and toys.” Ms Hales presented the cheque to Director Gail Reid and the group’s Chairperson Sally Bryant and then toured the facility. She said she was impressed with all the work that had been done to get the new venue operational so quickly. Mrs Reid said, “Obviously we’re very excited and grateful to receive the grant and will definitely be putting it to good use in the new facility.” Mrs Bryant said they are very grateful to the Community Foundation for the support they have received and that the donation will be used for equipment to set up the new centre. The Foundation’s goal is to support projects that benefit the long term development of Roxby Downs and according to Ms Hales the Foundation jumped at the opportunity to provide
Gail Reid, Sally Bryant, and Michelle Hales with Finn, Joshua, Jearim and member of the staff, Mary.
Building great men. At St Peter’s College we believe in an holistic approach to education: we are educating minds, building healthy bodies and nourishing spirits. None of these things can happen in isolation. Boys who are supported in this way grow to become great men - who are instinctively good and gentle - because we are leading them on a path to true strength of character. Let us show you how.

funding to a community group supporting the care and development of young children. The Foundation draws its funds from the local business community which are then pooled and distributed via a rigorous grant process. A board of directors, made up of predominantly local people with expertise in community development and finance meet to discuss these applications. “The Foundation relies on donations from local businesses to fund these community grants. The pool of funds available for distribution needs to grow to be able to accommodate future demand. This presents an opportunity for all businesses whether they are large contracting firms or small retailers to contribute funds that support community projects. Donations can be once off, monthly or made annually.” The Foundation will begin promoting the next round of grant funding in February 2012. In the meantime, grant application forms are available from the Big Sky Service Centre, 14 Tutop Street, Roxby Downs. Telephone 8671 2555. If your business would like to donate to the Foundation contact Michelle Hales on 0418 833 818.
