Yes, you will have to complete the census. The census is a five-yearly survey of every person and home in New Zealand. The government uses the information you provide to help plan for public services such as hospitals, schools, roads and public transport. You can complete the census online or on printed forms.

A few things to keep in mind about the census are that:

• starting from 13 Feb, Stats NZ sent everyone in the country a census pack by post or in person via a census collector the census pack contains an internet access code and instructions for how to use it to complete the forms some households receive paper forms and you can ask for forms to be posted to you you can contact your local CAB if you have questions or need help with your forms you can get help in multiple languages
