Latest beauty buzz Hydrabrasion and RF (radio frequency)

Water-dermabrasion is an exciting NEW innovative non-ablative facial rejuvenation technology. The hydrabrasion peel combines the efficacy of Microdermabrasion with a vacuum system and a new infuse aquation system. It is a lot gentler than crystal microdermabrasion or diamond dermabrasion as only water is used, with the application of specific serums to address specific skin concerns.

The main advantage of hydrabrasion machines is the fact that it is much more gentle and it enables treatment diversification by combining with skin care products such as anti-pigmentation products, lactic acid and salicylic acid to aid a variety of skin concerns, all while hydrating the skin.

Hydrabrasion, just like traditional dermabrasion, focuses on refreshing the skin. However, instead of crystals hitting the skin with pressure, the machine uses specific cosmetic ingredients to exfoliate the skin while deep cleansing/washing it. The special serums are pushed into the deeper layers of the skin while the exfoliation process is going on. The skin will feel hydrated with less redness and irritation, rather than traditional microdermabrasion, which often leaves skin red and dry. With a hydrabrasion peel the technician is able to choose specific serums that address issues such as acne, hyperpigmentation and aging.

Five benefits of hydabrasion are that it:

• evens out your skin tone through serum injection and gentle exfoliation

• refines poor size by diminishing congested skin

• improves the appearance of acne scars by helping to break down the epidermis

• reduces fine lines and wrinkles through a polishing effect

• repairs sun-damaged skin by breaking up the outer layer of the skin and removing dead skin cells

Radiofrequency (RF) therapy

Radiofrequency therapy is a nonsurgical method of tightening your skin.

As you age, your cells produce less collagen, which can lead to sagging skin and wrinkles. Skin laxity occurs around age 35 to 40 when the quantity and quality of your collagen begins to decline. Radiofrequency therapy uses energy waves to heat the deep layer of your skin which stimulates the production of collagen.

Combining these two modalities will give the latest and most visible results in one session. A course of six treatments is recommended.

Hey guys Let’s talk about men’s eye health

With the ever increasing awareness around men’s health issues thanks to fantastic initiatives and organisations such as Movember and I Am Hope, discussing and addressing men’s health (both physical and mental) is becoming far more mainstream, and we are here for it!

Similarly, eye health is something that’s important to keep in check too. We’re talking about ensuring you’re getting a regular eye examination so our optometrists can monitor things like cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma and more. Have you noticed yourself having to hold your phone or your book out as long as your arms reach and find that that’s still not enough? Yeah, definitely time for a check-up!

With all the time we’re spending looking at screens (this has increased to around a whopping seven hours a day!), it’s no wonder we suffer from things such as headaches, eye strain, difficulty concentrating and increased sensitivity to light (photophobia). Luckily for you, we only work with the best, most technologically advanced lenses that will help combat those symptoms of digital eye strain. We’re able to spend time discussing your lifestyle and requirements in order to fit you with the best possible lens type so you can get the most out of your day. We can also

fit your specific prescription into sunglasses.

Perhaps you work in an environment where safety glasses are required. We can set you up with fully certified prescription safety eyewear which is tested to 1337.6.2012 AS/NZS standards.

We are incredibly proud to be able to offer a huge variety of men’s frames (both sun and optical). No longer is your choice limited – we stock all shapes, sizes and colours.

The team at Orewa Optics are on hand to answer any eye care and eye wear questions you have as well as providing knowledgeable advice around the type of contact lenses or optical lenses that will best suit your lifestyle.
