I’m supporting a Silverdale Business Improvement District

When Cristina and I started our new build in Millwater in 2012, we knew that Silverdale was a great place to do business and an exceptional place to live. The explosive growth in Silverdale over the last 10 years is testimony to that and we have been blessed, over that time, with the opportunity to establish and grow UProtectNZ Insurance Services as a respected insurance adviser.

Since March 2020, I’ve also had the pleasure to chair the Silverdale Business Association and work with a great team of people, both voluntary and part-time. The extended lockdowns placed major constraints on our ability to undertake our normal activities but over the last three years the association has grown from strength to strength.

I believe, however, that Silverdale can become even better by achieving Business Improvement District (BID) status, which will create a partnership with Auckland Council and bring in funds to promote economic growth in our area. You can get more information on the BID process by checking out the article on page 26 or by visiting silverdalebusiness.co.nz/ bid-project/.

The success of initiatives by our neighbours at Destination Orewa Beach (also a BID), in supporting and promoting Orewa businesses and the vibrancy this brings to Orewa shows just how much Silverdale Business and the Silverdale community could benefit from becoming a BID.

Voting by commercial property and business owners within the Silverdale BID map area will take place from 1 to 28 March 2023. If you are eligible, I encourage you to vote YES. Every vote counts.

I personally have no doubt that a Silverdale BID would be a great initiative for Silverdale. That’s why I’m supporting a Silverdale Business Improvement District.
