Glenmorangie whiskies from the Highlands of Scotland come in a variety of expressions. All are excellent and consistently receive great reviews internationally. This 12-year-old, sherry cask finished Glenmorangie Lasanta, now bottled at a slightly lower 43% ABV (it was originally bottled at 46%), is one to seek out at this price point.

The Lasanta was first matured in ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, not for further maturation but instead just for a finishing period. Read on and enjoy!

Colour: Burnished gold.

Nose: Creamy caramel, dried fruits.

Palate: Medium-long, vanilla notes with sherry overtones – one to be savoured.

Finish: Hints of chocolatey cocoa, vanilla oak, slight nutty and orange spiciness.

Conclusion: One to buy and taste alongside the slightly more expensive, sweeter and entirely different Nectar d’Or expression. There is room on my shelf for both!
