打卡背後

這次有幸參與新一期的The Mills Paper，真正有機會重新認識南豐 紗廠是怎樣的一個地方。早已知道，南豐紗廠是近年本地流行熱 點，籌備刊物期間，親身發現這裡除了吸引不少文青外，原來更多 的足印來自毛孩，包括狗狗、貓貓、兔子、烏龜、鸚鵡等等，難怪 吸引了不少售賣寵物用品的店舖進駐這裡。飼養寵物的主人，特別 重視家中毛孩的健康，會選購不損害生態環境、人畜無害的生活用 品。這個出發點，正好與南豐紗廠的理念相近。

近年活化成為歷史文化地標後，南豐集團積極推動可持續發展，推 出不少文化、藝術、城市研究及可持續發展議題的項目，包括《世 界之約》、《幸會木棉》、《與種籽有約》等等，讓大眾與我們共 同重拾與世界共存的橋樑，建立更好的生活習慣。就像月前開放， 位處紗廠地下的「織刻生活店」，或者位於3樓的Green Wall，讓大 家在購物或打卡期間，擴闊對世界的視野。漫步這裡總能看到有關 紗廠昔日點滴、荃灣社區歷史故事，更能認識更多世界的資訊，還 有緊貼生活日常的小百科。希望這次藉著The Mills Paper，這一趟 本地小出走，讓你我獲益不少。

Behind the Flash

It is my pleasure to contribute to the new edition of The Mills Paper, which offers me the opportunity to discover The Mills in depth. While The Mills is a well-known hotspot in town, it was not until I worked on this publication that I realised it not only attracts young enthusiasts of art and culture but also furry friends, including dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles and parrots. The pet-friendly environment has naturally created a habitat for shops selling pet-related goods. As pet owners care about the health of their furry kids, they usually opt to purchase daily products that are unharmful to nature, human beings, and animals – a philosophy honoured by The Mills.

Since the building was revitalised to become a historical and cultural landmark, the Nan Fung Group has taken an active role in advocating sustainable development through different projects promoting sustainability, including “In Time Of” , “Nice to meet you, Kapok!” and “A Date with Seeds”, promoting the concepts of coexisting with nature and nurturing healthy habits. Examples include “The Store in Time” on the ground floor which was open a month ago, and the Green Wall on the third floor, inviting visitors to broaden their horizons towards the world as they go shopping or photo snapping. By wandering around The Mills, visitors can explore the history of the building and stories about Tsuen Wan. Please enjoy The Mills Paper and take a short break from the hustle and bustle. Murals

The murals on Pak Tin Par Lane reveal how the artists depict The Mills’ past, present, and future. Here are murals created by two local artists. When you take pictures of the murals, do you understand the ideas behind them?

光速叢林（畫家：連佩文）

壁畫作品是向南豐紗廠雅緻的歷史建築 致敬。藝術家描繪了紗廠內部獨有的柱 群交織着叢生的植物，亦虛亦實的景物 之間，探索着要是紡織廠沒有被珍惜保 育，卻不幸地被廢置作為反面結果，大 概當下會是另一番景象。在科技光速變 幻的年代，人人都變成「低頭族」聚焦 在屏幕之上，作品希望提醒我們放眼身 邊一直存在的自然美態。

Overgrown (Artist: Rebecca T Lin)

“Overgrown” pays homage to the beautifully timeworn architecture at The Mills. The artwork

depicts a soothing scene of overgrown plants weaving between tall pillars, exploring the idea of “what could have been” as an alternate outcome if

the former cotton mills were left abandoned. At a

time when technology is moving at lightning speed and everybody is looking down at their screens, “Overgrown” reminds viewers of their surroundings and the beauty in things from the past. 南豐今昔 ( 畫家：Uncle)

The Past and Future of The Mills (Artist: Uncle)

The Nan Fung Cotton Mills thrived as Hong Kong’ s textile industry flourished in the 60s. Since then, the company has led the development of local innovative industries to new heights. “The Past and Future of The Mills” celebrates the importance of striking a balance between creative development and resource conservation at The Mills.

南豐紡織於1954年由陳廷驊博士成立，是香港當時產量最高 的紗廠之一。南豐紡織原有六座廠房，其中一至三廠已於90 年代重新發展。其餘三座於1960至1970年間落成，名為南 豐紡織四、五、六廠，現已活化成為嶄新的南豐紗廠（The Mills），佔地約260,000平方呎。三大支柱分別為南豐作坊、 南豐店堂、CHAT六廠。 Nan Fung Textiles was founded in 1954 by Dr. D. H. Chen and grew to become a cornerstone of the territory’s dominant textile industry in the booming manufacturing era of the 1950s. Nan Fung Textiles initially comprised 6 factory buildings named Mills 1 through 6 respectively. While Mills 1, 2 and 3 were redeveloped in the 1990s, Mills 4, 5 and 6, completed between 196070, are the buildings that have been transformed to become The Mills today.
