of India confirmed in its annual Report for 201617 that 99 per cent of the junked 500 and 1000 rupee notes, have been returned to the banking system. As on November 8, 2016 when the demonetization was announced, there was 1,716.6 crore pieces of Rs 500 and 685.8 crore pieces of Rs 1000 in circulion, totalling Rs 15.44 lakh crore. Minister Arun Jaitely vehemently defended the note ban decision, saying the move was not intended to confiscate money but to bring it into formal channels and tax them, further he said, “it was rather aimed at flushing out black money, eliminating fake currency and striking the roots of terror financing”. Before that former RBI governor Raghu Ram Rajan was not in the favour of demonetisation. Adhaar data may be Hacked by CIA, Claims Wikileaks Jaipur. Just few days ago, Supreme Court has ruled that Indians enjoy a fundamental right to privacy.
