We’ve had a great start to the summer with passengers enjoying our new routes to Ibiza and Rodez as part of the 40 destinations we now serve from Southampton Airport.

Powdair has announced a new service to Sion in Switzerland whilst easyJet will be operating a triple weekly service to Geneva.

Runway Run 2017 We had a fantastic morning on the 25th June for our annual runway run. 600 runners turned up at the crack of dawn to run down the runway to raise funds for our wonderful charity of the year, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. In total over £16,000 was raised with more coming in from sponsorship each day! Thank you to everyone who took part, we look forward to seeing you again next year.

After noticing the money had blown away onto the runway he kept an eye on it and then called the NATS tower for permission to safely retrieve the money. 1. What does your day to day job involve? I am responsible for everything that goes on outside the terminal building, whether it be on the airfield or the aircraft parking stands. My number one focus is safety and making sure we maintain the highest levels in everything we do. * Our best rates are our online rates which are better than those advertised in branch

2. What is your favourite part of what you do? I really enjoy my job and not knowing what I will be faced with each day is quite exciting. The team here are very passionate about what they do and I really enjoy working with them.

3. What training did you have to go through before you could do this job? I started my aviation career at Heathrow and London City Airport where I went through lots of job based training to learn the ropes and understand how to run an airfield.

I used to want to be a train driver when I was a boy, so maybe I would resurrect that idea!

Your trip to the city wouldn’t be complete without poking your head into the quirky roofed food market of The English Market which has been trading since 1788.
