Welcome to the Summer 2025 issue of I DO! Where bridal meets bold, tradition flirts with trend, and the rulebook is gracefully rewritten (preferably poolside, cocktail in hand).
This season isn’t about choosing between classic and cool—it’s about having both. Think breezy linens with statement heels. A barefoot beach ceremony followed by a rooftop afterparty. Champagne towers under the sun and dancing until the stars come out. Because today’s couples are crafting weddings that feel like celebrations, not checklists.
Malta, as always, is the dream setting— sun-soaked, vibrant, and brimming with love stories. And this issue? It’s your ultimate frontrow ticket. We’ve packed it with fresh summer style, beauty tips, real weddings, and just the right dose of drama (the fun kind).
We’ll never tire of tradition—the heartfelt vows, the teary toasts—but we’re all for couples swapping rules for personality. Brides in bold lipstick, sunset photoshoots, and yes, grooms in linen suits by the sea.
So whether you’re planning, pinning, or just daydreaming, this issue is here to inspire your big day—sunny, joyful, and unapologetically you.
With love (and SPF 50),

Help! My Mother-in-Law Took Over
THE MOTHER IN LAW SURVIVAL GUIDE
WHEN “I DO”
WHAT?”
WHEN “I DO” TURNS INTO “SHE DID WHAT?”
Wedding planning is supposed to feel like your Pinterest board come to life — dreamy colour palettes, cake tastings, and that giddy countdown to the big day. But for some brides, the biggest hurdle wasn’t picking between peonies and pampas grass — it was navigating a mother-in-law with strong opinions and no concept of boundaries.
From fashion faux pas to floral takeovers, we asked real brides to spill the petals on how their MILs went rogue. Spoiler alert: it’s equal parts jaw-dropping and weirdly impressive.
“She completely redid the table décor — I found out via Instagram.”
My vision was cottage garden chic. She replaced it with red roses and candelabras that looked like they belonged in a Dracula reboot. I saw it on a vendor’s story before I even got to the venue.
— Sophie, 28
“She wore a wedding dress. Not a guest dress. A wedding. Dress.”
It was floor-length, white, lace, and had a small train. She called it her ‘second chance to walk down the aisle.’ I told her it was a great chance to walk right out of the photos.
— Mel, 31
“She invited people… who invited more people.”
We agreed on a 120-person limit. She added a few ‘close friends’ from her Pilates class — who then brought their husbands, their kids, and in one case, a neighbour who ‘just loves weddings.’ I ended up with 148 guests and 12 chairs short.
— Lara, 26
“She changed our cake. Without telling us.”
We’d picked lemon lavender — light, romantic, a little different. She called the baker and changed it to double chocolate because ‘vanilla things are forgettable.’ I found out from a confirmation text while sitting in traffic. I cried into my steering wheel.
— Jade, 33
Yes, she might “just be trying to help”. But if that help feels like a floral freight train, here’s how to keep your cool –and your vision.
1. Give her a title, not a task
Want her involved? Offer a role with boundaries — “Head of Welcome Bags,” “Chief of Family Coordination,” or “Ambassador of Rehearsal Dinner.” It sounds official, keeps her busy, and steers her away from your dress, guest list, and centrepieces.
2. The Polite Deflection is Your Best Friend
Learn this phrase: “Oh, what a lovely idea — I’ll definitely think about it!” Then don’t. Not every suggestion needs a debate. Smile, nod, and stick to your plan.
3. Don’t Share Everything
It’s tempting to keep everyone in the loop. Don’t. The more info you share, the more chances she has to “tweak” things. Keep key decisions between you and your partner (and maybe your planner). Share final details, not works in progress.
4. Put It in Writing (or in a Shared Doc)
If she must be included, keep everything in one place — a shared document with clear tasks, deadlines, and boundaries. It feels collaborative without becoming chaos.
5. Stay United with Your Partner
Your fiancé(e) should be your buffer. If something crosses the line, it’s their job to step in. You don’t need to play referee — you need to stay sane.
6. Control What You Can. Laugh Off the Rest.
Some things will go sideways. Someone will show up in white. Something will go missing. Breathe. Laugh. Screenshot it for the group chat. The most important part — the marriage — is still entirely yours.
7. Plan a “Rogue-Proof” Element
Give yourself one or two details you fully control — something no one else can touch. Whether it’s your vows, your playlist, or your shoes, having that untouchable element can keep you grounded.
IN THE END, IT’S YOUR DAY
You’re marrying your person, not their entire extended family. Yes, you may have to dodge a few awkward moments, field unsolicited advice, or survive a fashion ambush — but your wedding will still be yours. The laughter, the tears, the weird candelabras and all.

SHE’S BEAUTY, BRAINS, AND HAS A BLACK LAB STEALING THE SPOTLIGHT. MEET VENICE CASSAR –MODEL, DESIGNER, AND PHOTOGRAPHER
LIGHTING UP OUR SUMMER COVER WITH HEART, HUSTLE, AND HER SIGNATURE GOLD SPARKLE.
From living room fashion shows in her mum’s heels to gracing the pages of IDO Bridal Magazine, Venice Cassar has always been drawn to the spotlight—not for fame, but for the joy it brings her and those she loves. “I used to slip on lipstick, throw on a dress, and sashay around the house like it was Milan Fashion Week,” she laughs. “My parents always cheered me on. That encouragement became the foundation of everything.”
Her big break came after a local calendar shoot—but the journey started long before then. From community pageants to casting calls, Venice carved her own path through hard work, heart, and a little sparkle. Now, years later, she’s not only a model but a trained interior designer, a passionate photographer, and a creative force always hungry to learn.
And her favourite part of being on set? “The people—always the people. Shoots are like mini worlds full of creative minds. Stylists, photographers, other models... I love the mix. You learn something new every single time.” As a photographer herself, Venice finds each experience on set doubles as inspiration for her own work behind the lens.
When asked to describe her style in three words, she doesn’t miss a beat: “Confident. Natural. Creative.” And while trends come and go, there’s one staple she swears by—gold accessories. “Rings, necklaces, earrings—if it glimmers, it’s on me. It just pulls everything together and makes me feel like me.”
Dream shoot destination? “Lake Como. The villas, the water, the golden light—pure romance. It feels like something out of a timeless love story.” But when it comes to personal meaning, this summer’s shoot with I DO is already her all-time favourite.
Why? Because she wasn’t alone. Venice’s beloved black lab, Harley, joined her on set—and stole the show. “She’s been with me through everything. She’s getting older now, and I don’t know if she’ll be around on my actual wedding day. So to have her with me, in this dress, on this set… It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. I’ll carry that with me forever.”
When she’s not modelling, Venice is often found studying photography, working on client shoots, or getting creative with interiors. “I’ve always loved visual storytelling—whether it’s a photo, a room, or a fashion look. It’s all part of the same spark.” Outside of work, it’s long walks, dips in the sea, and quality time with her nearest and dearest that keep her grounded. “And yes,” she adds with a grin, “I 100% talk to Harley like she’s a human. Full-on chats. She gets me.”
Venice isn’t just stepping into the spotlight—she’s shaping it, one frame at a time.
Venice Cassar, with Harley by her side. Our Summer 2025 cover star.
A venue for all seasons
DECIDING ON THE PERFECT VENUE FOR YOUR WEDDING — NO MATTER THE SEASON — TAKES THOUGHTFUL PLANNING. EVEN IF YOU HAVE A VISION IN MIND, FLEXIBILITY IS KEY TO CREATING A DAY THAT FEELS JUST RIGHT.
Malta offers no shortage of stunning wedding venues that work beautifully year-round.
Whether you’re dreaming of a breezy summer celebration under the stars or a cosy winter affair indoors, the key is choosing a space that caters to every detail of your wedding experience. Somewhere that feels both memorable and practical — a place where you can celebrate freely while your guests feel relaxed and well looked after.
Elia Caterers created Giardini Lambrosa with this very idea in mind. It’s a venue that stands out for its contemporary architecture, modern wooden cladding, and marble water features. The surrounding gardens provide a tranquil outdoor setting for spring, summer, or autumn weddings, while the indoor spaces are ideal when temperatures dip or unpredictable weather strikes.
There’s also a stylish couple’s/bridal room on site, fully equipped with a bathroom and shower — ideal for quick touch-ups, outfit changes, or just a moment to breathe before the next celebration begins. Plus, there’s dedicated storage for gifts and essentials.
Giardini Lambrosa’s sister venue, Veranda, offers a more intimate setting for up to 120 guests, with stunning views over Malta’s natural landscape — especially lovely at sunset. When it comes to comfort, these venues tick all the boxes. You’ll find full air-conditioning, ample space for regrouping, and flexible room arrangements that make planning easy — whether you're hosting a summer BBQ, a winter cocktail reception, or a springtime garden soirée. Plus, both venues offer complimentary Wi-Fi, keeping your guests connected
and your celebrations seamlessly modern.
And yes, speaking of BBQs — Giardini Lambrosa offers the option to include a BBQ station or outdoor grill experience as part of your celebration. It’s a popular choice for laid-back summer receptions or even post-wedding brunches. From Mediterranean meats to grilled vegetables and fresh seafood, their catering team can design a BBQ menu that suits your style.
Better yet, the venue is dog friendly — ideal if your furry friend has a role to play in the ceremony. There’s also plenty of free parking with dedicated attendants, so guests arrive stress-free.
Elia Caterers, one of the first to introduce an open kitchen concept in Malta, continues to set trends with their forwardthinking approach to dining and service. Their service includes free viewings on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 5.00 and 7.00 pm, plus a helpful team on hand to assist with everything from menus to decor to supplier coordination. No booking needed — just show up.
Their reputation for detail even extends to those final flourishes: guest books, cake tables, photo easels, fixed bars, and themed extras are all included when you book the venue. A rare and welcome bonus in the local wedding scene.
Finally, a special permit means you can celebrate outside until 1.00 am — and if hearts are still full and feet still dancing, the indoor area can stay open even longer.
If you’re planning a wedding for any time of year — and want your day to feel both beautiful and easy — Giardini Lambrosa could be the perfect place to say “I do.”
Smudged eyeliner and shiny foreheads have no place in your wedding album. Whether you’re exchanging vows under the summer sun or dancing the night away in the Mediterranean heat, your makeup should stay pictureperfect from beginning to end.
In this feature, we dive into expert tips, melt-proof techniques, and go-to product picks to help you glow, not sweat, on your big day. We also spoke to renowned Maltese makeup artist RUTH ATTARD, who shared her top advice for creating a radiant, long-lasting bridal look that holds up beautifully from “I do” to last call.
1. SKIN PREPARATION IS ESSENTIAL
Every successful makeup application begins with properly prepped skin. In a hot and humid climate like Malta’s, this step becomes even more crucial.
“Hydration is key, but keep it simple.” says Ruth. “Avoid rich, oilbased creams and instead opt for a light, water-based moisturiser followed by an oil-free, mattifying primer. This creates the perfect base without clogging the skin or encouraging excess shine.”
2. LIGHT LAYERS FOR LASTING COVERAGE
When it comes to foundation in summer, restraint is key. Heavy layers are more likely to break down in the heat.
“I recommend using a light to medium coverage foundation, something that blends well and stays on long.” Ruth explains. “Avoid anything too thick or too dewy, and apply in light layers, building coverage only where needed. This will make your complexion look fresher, photograph better, and withstand humidity more effectively.”
3. SET WITH PRECISION, NOT PRESSURE
Setting products correctly can extend the life of your makeup without sacrificing a natural finish.
“Cream-based products, such as blush or bronzer, can absolutely be used,” Ruth advises. “Just set them lightly with matching powder blusher and bronzer to boost longevity and focus your translucent powder on the T-zone and any areas prone to shine. Avoid overpowdering, as this can create a heavy or cakey finish - especially under strong sunlight.”
4. INVEST IN A QUALITY SETTING SPRAY
No summer makeup routine is complete without a reliable setting
spray. It’s the final step that ensures longevity and prevents unwanted slipping or smudging.
“A setting spray acts as a seal, helping makeup stay fresh through warm ceremonies, outdoor receptions, and energetic dance floors,” Ruth says. “It’s a musthave for any summer event.”
And if shine appears throughout the day? Ruth recommends blotting before powdering. “Blotting papers or even a one ply tissue can remove excess oil without disturbing the makeup. Powder should only be reapplied sparingly once excess oil is removed, to maintain a soft, natural finish.”
FINAL TIP: PLAN AND TRIAL
For brides working with a professional artist, Ruth emphasises the importance of a trial session under similar weather conditions to test how products perform in real-time. This allows any necessary adjustments to be made well ahead of the big day.
Guests attending destination weddings should consider bringing a small touch-up kit with essentials such as blotting papers, lip colour, and a mini mirror - a discreet but effective way to refresh your look throughout the celebration.
From exchanging vows in sunlit courtyards to dancing beneath starlit skies, a Maltese summer wedding is unforgettable - and with the right preparation, your makeup will be too.
With these expert techniques, you can embrace the beauty of the season while feeling confident, polished, and entirely photo-ready.
FVANITY LOUNGE VANITY LOUNGE
Where confidence meets timeless beauty
or brides-to-be, your wedding day look is more than just makeup and hair—it’s the crown on one of the most important days of your life. At Vanity Lounge, led by the experienced hairstylist Nell, brides not only find their perfect style but also discover a personal journey of self-care and confidence.
With over 22 years in the beauty industry, Nell’s passion for empowering clients is evident in every detail of the salon she created.
“After working in the hair and beauty industry for 12 years, I had a dream of creating a space where I could do things differently—a place that feels luxurious yet welcoming, where every client feels special,” says Nell. “The name Vanity Lounge reflects the idea of celebrating beauty and self-care without guilt—because taking time for yourself is not vanity, it’s confidence and self-love.”
A ONE-STOP BEAUTY DESTINATION
What started as a hair-only salon has now become a complete beauty destination, offering a curated selection of services under one roof.
“Today’s lifestyle is so busy, and I wanted to create a place where people can look and feel their best without having to run from one appointment to another,” Nell explains. “Watching Vanity Lounge grow and evolve into what it is today has been one of the most rewarding journeys of my life.”
From advanced Keratin treatments (perfect for Malta’s humidity) to Hair Botox for deep restoration and Dermapen scalp therapy to stimulate hair growth, Vanity Lounge is all about creating long-term beauty solutions, not just short-term styles.
“We don’t just follow trends—we focus on the health of the hair and scalp,” Nell adds. “It’s about creating beautiful, healthy hair that lasts long after you leave the salon.”
BRIDAL HAIR PHILOSOPHY
When it comes to weddings, Nell and her team understand that every bride is unique. Whether you’re dreaming of timeless Hollywood waves, a romantic textured updo, or something modern and trendinspired, the priority is finding a style that feels like you
“Some brides are drawn to timeless, elegant styles, while others want something bolder or unique,” Nell shares. “The most important thing is to choose a look that makes you feel confident and true to yourself. That’s why a bridal trial is essential—it gives us the chance to explore different options until we find the perfect match.”
TOP BRIDAL HAIR TIPS FROM NELL
1. Start early. Book your wedding hair appointment at least a year in advance to secure your date, and use that time to plan treatments that will enhance your chosen style.
2. Prep your hair. “For strong, healthy hair, start a care routine at least 6 months before the wedding,” Nell advises. Regular trims, deep conditioning masks, and professional treatments like Hair Botox or Keratin will ensure hair is at its best.
3. Think texture. If your dream look involves braids, waves, or a textured upstyle, adding highlights or soft color beforehand can enhance dimension and make the hairstyle pop in photos.
4. Long-lasting styles. To keep your style looking perfect from ceremony to dance floor, Nell uses carefully selected products, like powder dust for natural hold and expert styling techniques tailored to your hair type.
5. Don’t feel pressured. “An updo isn’t mandatory just because it’s traditional,” Nell says. “The best bridal look is the one that feels most natural to you.”
WHY BRIDES LOVE VANITY LOUNGE
From the very first consultation, brides are given a personalized experience designed to bring their dream look to life. Nell’s expertise, combined with her passion for hair health and beauty education, ensures every client leaves not just looking stunning but feeling confident and cared for.
“Our goal is not only to deliver beautiful results but also to create a relaxing experience that leaves you feeling your absolute best,” Nell says.
The Bridal Beauty Checklist
(BECAUSESTRESSISNOTAGOODWEDDINGACCESSORY!)
◊ Lock it in early. Book your hairstylist at least 12 months ahead—trust us, you don’t want to be panic-Googling stylists two weeks before your big day.
◊ Trial = sanity. Schedule your hair trial a few months before the wedding. Bring inspiration pics, but don’t be afraid to experiment.
◊ Shine bright like your ring. Start nourishing masks or hair treatments 6 months out for that glossy, “just got engaged” shine.
◊ Trim the drama (and the split ends). Schedule your final trim 2 weeks before the big day.
◊ Plan for weather sabotage. Malta’s humidity? Meet Keratin treatment — your secret weapon for frizz-proof hair.
◊ Don’t go product-wild. Stick to trusted professional products (no last-minute drugstore experiments—your hair deserves better).
◊ Dance floor proof. Ask your stylist about light but strong hold products—no stiff helmets, just soft, lasting magic.
◊ Most importantly: Wear your hair how YOU love it. Your wedding is about celebrating you, not just tradition.
Unforgettable wedding entertainment ideas The WOW Factor
You’ve locked in the venue, nailed the outfit, and curated the menu. Now it’s time to think beyond the basics. What really sets a wedding apart? It’s the in-between moments—the unexpected touches, the bold entertainment, the bits people actually remember. Malta isn’t just a pretty backdrop; it’s packed with unique, high-impact ways to level up your celebration. From immersive performances to playful surprises, we’ve rounded up 10 standout ideas to keep your guests talking long after the last drink’s been poured.
1. MAGICIAN –VENDOR SPOTLIGHT
Expect gasps, giggles, and guests asking, “Did you see that?” Brian Role seamlessly weaves close-up magic into your wedding day, adding laughter, atmosphere, and moments of pure wonder without ever stealing the spotlight. From mingling during cocktails to performing between courses, every interaction becomes a minitheatre of amazement. For couples wanting something refined, unexpected, and unforgettable, Brian’s magic leaves guests talking long after the night ends.
“Magic is about more than tricks—it’s about creating moments people will talk about forever,” says BrianRolè, one of Malta’s top wedding magicians.
2. FIREWORKS DISPLAY –VENDOR SPOTLIGHT
Want to end the night with something unforgettable? BG Malta Fireworks delivers custom, smoke-free displays that add serious sparkle to your celebration. Think glittering bursts timed to your first dance or heart-shaped explosions as you share that just-married kiss.
These shows are venue-safe, music-synced, and camera-ready— basically made for the ‘Gram. Whether you’re after drama, romance, or a full-on sky spectacle, BG’s expert team has you covered from setup to showtime. It’s not just fireworks—it’s a grand finale your guests won’t stop talking about.
3. LIVE WEDDING PAINTER
Swap snapshots for something truly special. A live painter creates an original artwork during your wedding—capturing the scene as it unfolds. Guests can watch the magic happen in real time, adding an unexpected moment of calm and curiosity to the day. Whether it’s the ceremony, first dance, or just the vibe of the venue, every brushstroke tells your story. The result? A stunning keepsake that’s equal parts art and memory, ready to hang long after the last toast.
4. A CAPPELLA GROUP
No instruments. No fuss. Just soul. A cappella groups bring harmony, heart, and a serious wow-factor to your wedding day. Whether they’re serenading guests at the aisle or surprising everyone mid-reception, their rich, layered vocals give you goosebumps—in the best way. From gospel favourites to reworked pop songs, their sets are fully customisable and suit venues from chapels to clifftops. Chic, classy, and deeply moving, this is music with intimacy and flair. Your first dance song, but make it magic.
5. AERIAL ARTISTS
If you want drama (the glamorous kind), aerialists bring elegance and spectacle in equal measure. Suspended from hoops or silks, these performers float, twist, and fly through the air—adding a spellbinding element to your celebration. Perfect for large venues, poolside soirées or sunset moments under the stars, aerial shows offer a unique rhythm to the evening. Whether it’s a solo show before dinner or a mesmerising act to kick off the party, this is performance art with edge. “There’s something surreal about watching someone float above the crowd—it’s like the wedding just levelled up.”
6. CARICATURE
ARTIST
Bring your photos to life! A live caricature artist offers fun, flattering (and a little cheeky) portraits your guests will treasure long after dessert. Great for kids, hilarious for grownups, and brilliant for ice-breaking, caricatures make the perfect takehome gift. Position your artist near the bar or by the welcome drinks, and let the laughter begin. It’s old-school charm with a modern twist—totally customisable and always a crowd-puller. Bonus: You’ll likely frame yours too.
7. SILENT DISCO
Three playlists. One headset. Zero complaints. A silent disco is the unexpected hero of wedding nights, solving noise restrictions »
» while delivering a high-energy party. Picture your uncle grooving to ABBA while your cousins vibe to Dua Lipa—all in the same room. Everyone gets a say, no one misses out, and it’s hilarious to watch. It’s inclusive, lively, and guaranteed to be remembered. Curate the channels to match your vibe—and prepare for chaos (the fun kind).
“The best part? Watching 100 people belt out different songs at the same time. Pure chaos. Pure fun.”
8. SINGING WAITERS
Just when guests think they’ve settled in… boom—your servers burst into song. Disguised as ordinary staff, singing waiters are trained pros who launch into opera, musical theatre, or crowd-pleasing bangers when least expected. Reactions are priceless, the energy is infectious, and soon everyone’s singing along. It’s like a flash mob meets fine dining—elegant, unexpected, and oh-so-fun. A perfect mid-meal twist that never fails to land.
9. TAROT OR PALM READER
Why not add a little mystery to the mix with a tarot or palm reader offering mini readings throughout the night. Set up a velvet-draped nook or boho-inspired tent where guests can pop in for quick, playful predictions—love, luck, or a cheeky glimpse into their future. It’s light-hearted, totally unexpected, and always a great conversation starter. Whether they’re true believers or just in it for fun, everyone leaves a little intrigued and a lot entertained.
“It’s not about destiny—it’s about sparking curiosity and a little mischief.”
10. RETRO GAMES CORNER
Inject a bit of nostalgia with a vintage gaming lounge. Giant Jenga, Connect Four, arcade classics—it’s a playful nod to your inner child. Guests will mingle, laugh, and sneak off for a friendly challenge while the party goes on. It also doubles as a photo-ready chill zone, especially styled to your colour scheme.
Add popcorn or cocktails, and it becomes the new dancefloor alternative. Oldschool charm meets modern wedding fun.
“Games are the ultimate icebreaker—suddenly your uncle and your best friend are locked in a Connect Four showdown.”
FINAL FLOURISH
Let’s be honest—your guests won’t remember the napkin fold or the exact shade of your flowers. But they will remember how your wedding made them feel. That’s where entertainment comes in. It’s not just background noise—it’s the energy, the surprise, the “wait, did that just happen?” moment. Whether you’re all about drama, fun, or a little bit of chaos (the good kind), great entertainment takes your day from lovely to legendary.
Cookie-cutter weddings? Not on Vera van Leeuwen’s watch. In Malta, where weddings often stick to the same script, Vera saw a major opportunity: couples deserved more than recycled décor and predictable venues. She envisioned celebrations that were bold, personal, and dripping with story. Enter Isle Décor – Bespoke Events — her luxury design studio that turns weddings into immersive, soul-stirring experiences.
MORE THAN A WEDDING. THIS IS YOUR STORY, DESIGNED.

THE COUPLE
Ingrid & Joseph 25 May 2025
Flamenco dancer meets engineer! Ingrid Sciberras and Joseph Caruana tied the knot in a charming Gozo ceremony, followed by a relaxed, sun-soaked reception with stunning views at Country Terrace.
They say true love always finds its way back. For Ingrid Sciberras and Joseph Caruana, it took three decades, a global pandemic, and a healthy dose of flamenco to make it to the altar. “I told my friend after a few group meet-ups: one day, I’m going to marry that man.”And she meant it. Ingrid, a powerhouse in HR by day and flamenco queen by night, met Joseph through mutual friends 35 years ago. The spark was instant, but life had other plans. They went their separate ways—until fate (and Facebook) brought them back together right before COVID.
Fast forward to lockdown in Gozo, and romance bloomed. “We moved there together and fell in love with island life—and each other,” says Ingrid. “Eventually, we just knew. We wanted to make it official. And Joseph wanted to give me the dream wedding I thought I’d never have.”
CUE THE CASTANETS
With Ingrid’s flamenco roots and love of all things Spanish, the wedding was always going to be a vibrant, passion-fuelled fiesta. “It was Flamenco meets Malta,” she laughs. The theme? Red and purple. The vibe? Fun, fiery, and full of flair. “Guests were told to ditch the formality and wear something bright, bold, and fabulous!”
Wedding planning came naturally to Ingrid (she’s organised more flamenco shows than she can count), but invitations had her stumped—until a chat with her office’s marketing manager sparked the perfect idea. The end result? A bold Declaration of Love invited guests to donate to meaningful NGOs instead of bringing gifts. »

» As for keepsakes, tradition got a flamenco twist. Each guest received a delicate perlini pouch and a Spanish fan in—yep, you guessed it—red or purple.
A DRESS MADE IN ANDALUSIAN HEAVEN
There was only one possible look for Ingrid’s big day: a custom flamenco wedding dress. “I had the vision in my head for years,” she explains, “but I needed someone who could bring it to life.” She found someone in Torre del Mar, Spain— designer Teresa Ninu, who not only nailed the dress but also provided the shoes and earrings to match.
“The second I saw it, I cried. It was the dress. Full flamenco drama, just as I’d imagined.”
Ingrid adds: “It was all the more meaningful because the dress was gifted to me by my beloved aunt, who is like a mother to me.”
Joseph, always the joker, jokes about wearing a bullfighter’s suit. “We talked him down,” Ingrid laughs. He ended up looking dashing in a deep blue three-piece suit.
The bridesmaids? Dressed in radiant red and purple, complete with fringing from Seville. “I worked with Alamango in Malta to design every dress from scratch,” says Ingrid. Even the flower girls and pageboys wore custom flamenco outfits— hats, braces, and all. “We didn’t hold back!” »
»The veil? A stunning lace Mantilla from Juan Foronda in Seville, gifted by Ingrid’s brother. “It was so special. My friend and hairdresser Gino rehearsed the styling countless times until it was perfect.”
A CHURCH THAT SANG
Choosing the venue was easy—eventually. Their dream chapel was too small for the musical performance they had in mind. Instead, they chose the majestic Gharb Parish Church in Gozo, which had the perfect acoustics to honour their love of music.
And the music? Oh, the music. Opera-singing cousins, talented friends, and the incredible Cordia String Quartet filled the church with soaring harmonies, including an unforgettable rendition of Ave Maria as Ingrid walked down the aisle.
“The church was packed. I walked in with my brother, thinking of my late parents, and I was overwhelmed with emotion.”
Even the wedding rings held deep meaning. Ingrid wore her late mother’s wedding ring—an exact fit, as if meant to be. Joseph’s ring came from Art Diamonds by Lee Satariano, who crafted a sleek and simple band just for him.
Floral arrangements across the church and venue were just as heartfelt. “I had a very specific colour palette in mind,” says Ingrid. “And George Xerri managed to create exactly what I envisioned—for the venue, the church, and our bouquets.” »

“It’s never too late for love, or for the wedding you’ve always dreamed of. Ours just happened to include dancing, drama and a whole lot of red and purple!”
–Ingrid & Joseph
» FIESTA TIME!
The reception took place at the couple’s favourite date-night spot: Country Terrace in Ghajnsielem. “It was a no-brainer,” says Ingrid. “It’s where we fell in love with Gozo, and the views are just spectacular.”
Décor was minimal but bursting with colour. From the floral arrangements to the playful details, every corner had Ingrid and Joseph’s personal touch. Guests were greeted with fans, palios, and two easels: one displaying a witty quote hand-painted by Ingrid’s cousin, and another with photo-upload details for their digital wedding album.
“We skipped the posed couple photo. Instead, we gave guests a quote: ‘We didn’t arrive at our understanding to get married through our rational mind.’”
The food? A global culinary journey. Canapés, prosecco, and food stations offering everything from sushi and Indian dishes to traditional paella. Dessert was handled by Busy Bee, while Edel created a stunning wedding cake that looked (almost) too good to eat.
DANCING, SURPRISES AND A FLAMENCO SHOWSTOPPER
Entertainment was non-stop and full of surprises. Things kicked off gently with Cordia, then picked up with a mix of Queen, Pink Floyd, and dance floor favourites by Cash and Band. Joseph’s cousin’s daughter even jumped in with a few surprise songs.
Then came the flamenco performance, choreographed by Estelle Bonello Sant and danced by Ingrid’s beloved Alegria dancers. But the real moment? Ingrid swapping her bridal shoes for flamenco heels and joining the dancers herself.
“I danced a Tangos and Sevillanas in full bridal flamenco glory—our guests lost it!”
Their first dance? Lionel Richie’s Stuck on You. “The lyrics were perfect for our story. Just two people who found their way back to each other.”
From there, the night melted into an ‘80s dance party that kept everyone on their feet—from toddlers to grandparents.
BEHIND THE SCENES
The dream team included wedding organiser Brian Sultana, whose calm energy and killer coordination made everything seamless. Maids of honour Karla, Chantal and Leah helped Ingrid with everything from makeup to nerves. Cousins Andrew and Matthew played their part, and best man Ian Buckle made hydration a top priority.
“It was a team effort. But Brian? He was a wedding ninja.”
Even the journey between the church and reception added a sprinkle of comedy. In an open-top car, Ingrid and Joseph were applauded by locals, stopped for impromptu selfies, and delayed by a friend who had to get a picture in the middle of the road.
THE FINAL I DOS!
Their wedding was more than just a celebration—it was a reunion, a statement of individuality, and a love letter to flamenco, Malta, and second chances.
FROM TEENAGE SPARK TO LIFETIME VOWS
They first met as teenagers—Michela was 16, Steve 20. “Steve was mature and mysterious… I made the first move!” she says with a laugh. It was the start of a relationship built on patience, passion, and plenty of motorbike rides across Malta.
“Steve used to ride from Żebbuġ to pick me up from Mġarr. That’s how it all started—something so simple that meant the world at the time.”
Fast forward 10 years, and the couple had weathered life’s seasons together. It was time for something unforgettable. And Steve delivered—on two wheels.
40 DAYS, ONE PROPOSAL
In 2023, just before Michela moved to Sweden to begin her Master’s, Steve began a solo 40-day cycling trip from Malta to Stockholm. The finish line wasn’t just geographic—it was romantic.
“He cycled across Europe—40 days straight. Then he showed up in Sweden and proposed. How could I say no? It was surreal.”
Her “yes” marked the end of one journey and the beginning of another—this time, together.
A SOULFUL CELEBRATION
From the start, the couple wanted their wedding to reflect who they are: joyful, unpretentious, and full of personality. Royal blue organically emerged as their accent colour—bold, elegant, and deeply them.
“We didn’t want to force a theme,” Michela says. “But blue just kept showing up in all the right places. It became our thread.”
Guests received hand-bottled Maltese olive oil— lovingly prepared by Michela and her mum—as a fragrant nod to family roots and shared tradition. The invitations were hand-designed, featuring natureinspired motifs and, of course, splashes of blue.
BRIDAL FASHION WITH A TWIST
Michela’s gown from Eva Mariee was a dreamy blend of romance and playfulness, with floral detailing and detachable balloon sleeves. “The moment I tried it on, I felt like it had chosen me,” she recalls.
Later, for the reception, she changed into a flirty short white dress with floral appliqués and a matching bag—“Glamorous flower princess meets free spirit,” she says with a grin.
Tying the knot in a church full of memories
The ceremony took place at Ħaż-Żebbuġ Parish Church—Steve’s childhood church and the one where he once served as an altar boy.
“It meant a lot to him to marry there,” Michela says. “It grounded everything.”
Eight priests concelebrated the Mass, and Michela’s ex-classmate, the talented Maxine Pace, performed a moving medley that included the entrance hymn.
“Hearing Maxine sing as I walked down the aisle... it added a deeply personal layer to the moment.” »

THE COUPLE
Michela & Steve
10 May 2025
Michela and Steve were married at Haz-Zebbug Parish Church. Their wedding was a stylish and heartfelt celebration –set beneath the trees at Château Buskett and illuminated by soft fairy lights. With royal blue as the thread tying it all together, every detail reflected the couple’s personality, heritage, and a decade of shared memories.
» Although their beloved dog Pippa didn’t take part in the ceremony, she was waiting outside—wearing a tiny royal blue bow—for plenty of post-Mass cuddles and photos.
“She’s such a big part of our lives. It meant the world to have her there—even if she skipped the vows!” Michela says.
A TWILIGHT FOREST DREAM
As guests made their way to Château Buskett, they were welcomed by an enchanting woodland scene. “The fairy lights were everything,” Michela says. “That mix of twilight, tree cover, and sparkle—it felt like a storybook.”
Disco balls shimmered above the dance floor, while warm golden hour light washed over the venue’s historic stone walls and lush surroundings. Cocktails were served from a vintage balcony— painted royal blue to match the couple’s signature palette.
Dinner featured local dishes curated by Corinthia Caterers, with
a traditional Maltese food table that stood out as one of the bride’s favourite elements.
A SOUNDTRACK TO REMEMBER
From soulful sax at cocktail hour to a high-energy set by Kurt Calleja & Band, music was central to the celebration.
The bridal party made their entrance to “Sarà Perché Ti Amo,” setting the tone for an upbeat, heartfelt evening. One of the bridesmaids even surprised the couple with a live serenade—“It completely caught us off guard and had everyone in tears and fits of laughter,” Michela says.
Their first dance turned into a perfectly imperfect moment when the singer missed the cue.
“We ended up having two first dances—first to ‘Bla Tarf,’ then our original song, ‘Ordinary.’ It was chaotic, emotional, and so us,” she says. »
» A WALL OF LOVE
A 3x2-metre photo board displayed 10 years of love in black and white, offering guests a visual journey through Michela and Steve’s relationship. Now, it hangs above their sofa at home.
“It’s the centrepiece of our living room. Like a love letter we get to see every day.”
The dream team
From start to finish, the day came together with the help of a talented team. Makeup was by Jennifer Dimech, florals by The Floral Designer, and photography by Mark Cassar and Ernest Vella—each vendor contributing artistry and warmth to every detail.
THEIR ADVICE TO OTHER COUPLES?
“Make it yours,” Michela says. “Don’t follow every rule or trend. Follow your story. The moments that feel most like you will be the ones that stay with you.”
A little tradition, a lot of bold personality, and one royal blue dog bow to top it all off—Michela and Steve’s wedding was a heartfelt reminder that love looks best when it’s true to you.
Sometimes, love begins with a plot twist — and a good party. Kristian and Kylie’s story started at a Gringos night out, where a chance meeting, a bold first move, and some terrible dance moves sparked something real. “It just felt easy,” says Kylie. “No games, no awkward silences. We both knew something was happening.”
Fast forward a few years and these two are still laughing, still dancing (badly, by their own admission), and very much in love. When it came to saying “I do,” they wanted something timeless yet laid-back — a romantic garden affair filled with soft hues, fairy lights, and, yes, a pizza station.
A GARDEN MADE FOR LOVE
The couple always dreamed of an outdoor wedding. “We wanted sunshine, nature, and that ‘hidden garden’ magic,” says Kristian. Château Buskett delivered all that and more. “When we walked in, we knew this was it. It felt like stepping into a fairytale.”
The colour palette was as dreamy as the setting: pastel blues, creamy whites, and soft greenery that blended perfectly with the venue’s natural beauty. Guests were greeted by glowing candlelight, wooden tables adorned with greenery runners, and just enough DIY magic from the bridal squad to make the décor personal.
THE FASHION MOMENT
The groomsmen went classic in black suits with crisp white shirts — “Sharp, simple, and full of charm,” says Kylie. Bridesmaids glided in pastel blue gowns with flowy fabric that danced in the summer breeze. Kylie’s own dress, a stunning creation by Ave Marie, was all about understated elegance — the kind of gown that whispers rather than shouts.
The bouquet? Clean, white blooms with soft green accents, echoing the less-is-more approach that defined the day.
GOLDEN RINGS AND GOLDEN VOWS
Their rings were as meaningful as their vows. Both bands were engraved with the wedding date, their initials, and even their fingerprints. “It’s like carrying a piece of each other everywhere,” says Kristian.
The ceremony itself was intimate, filled with the people who truly knew their journey. “Every smile, every tear felt like a reminder of why we were here,” Kylie shares.
A FEAST UNDER THE STARS
When the vows were done, the party began — and didn’t stop until the early hours. Château Buskett transformed into a glowing, star-lit celebration. »

THE COUPLE
Kylie & Kristian
21 June 2025
Their love story began on a Gringos dance floor and, on 21st June 2025, they said “I do” beneath the leafy canopy of Château Buskett. Surrounded by soft blues, fresh greenery, and their favourite people, the day was relaxed, romantic, and full of music, laughter, and unforgettable dance floor moments.
» A 12-piece brass band and two powerhouse vocalists set the tone, followed by a DJ who kept everyone on the dance floor. “Was there table dancing? We’ll let the guests tell that story,” Kristian laughs.
The menu was as fun as the vibe — a mix of finger foods, platters, and a late-night pizza station that stole the show. “We didn’t want anyone leaving hungry,” Kylie jokes.
THE FIRST DANCE
Under a canopy of fairy lights, they danced to “Jekk Mhux Int”. “The lyrics just felt like us,” says Kylie. That first spin, surrounded by friends and family, was a moment they’ll never forget.
BEHIND THE SCENES
The wedding was a true team effort. Their bridal party — Daniel, Dean, Adrian, Aleandro, Carl, Abigail, Nichole, Nadya, and Monique — were more than just attendants. “They were our hype squad, therapists, and crisis managers, all rolled into one,” says Kristian.
A few special touches gave the night its unforgettable sparkle: a 360 video booth, a CO2 gun that fired up the dance floor, and flawless coordination from Golden Edge, who styled the day to perfection.
“IT JUST FELT RIGHT”
There was no over-the-top proposal, no countdown — just two people who knew they were ready. “Life gave us all the green lights, so we went for it,” says Kristian. Kylie sums it up best: “We wanted a wedding that felt like us — relaxed, romantic, and full of fun. In the end, we got everything we hoped for: love, laughter, and the best party of our lives.”
