TERM TIME HOLIDAYS Since the commencement of the school year I have received over 40 requests from families who seek leave of absence to either holiday or travel overseas for a variety of reasons. I therefore draw your attention to the school’s attendance and punctuality policy as well as Marlborough Primary School’s development priorities again, where we aim for ALL children to have attendance of 96% or higher. A wealth of research into pupil attendance highlights a clear link between children’s progress and their attendance at school. It is unsettling for a child when returning to school following periods of absence, and presents a real challenge for teachers and support staff who work very hard to ensure all children’s needs are met and are able to achieve. No absence requests will be authorised unless there is an exceptional circumstance. As yet, none of the requests received meet the criteria. If you choose to go ahead and your child is absent from school, attendance will be marked in your child’s registration record as unauthorised and a penalty will be issued by Harrow Council, in line with both the School’s and Harrow’s policies. We publish term dates well in advance and therefore encourage you to book your travel, family and personal events around these dates. Thank you for your continued support, Miss D. Anazodo Headteacher
100% RAFFLE WINNERS In this edition of ‘The Magic of Marlborough’ we congratulate Adithi from Falcon Class, Abby from Emerald Class, Helge from Falcon Class and Ashaz from Diamond Class as Marlborough’s winners of the 100% attendance weekly raffle over the past fortnight. They each take home a £5 Toys R Us voucher to use towards the cost of an item of their choice. We congratulate them and applaud their families for their commitment towards having the best possible weekly attendance!
