Founded in 2006, The Texas Playboys Baseball Club is an Austin-based social aid and pleasure club and the undisputed leader of the Sandlot Revolution. Named after the King of Western Swing, Bob Wills’, (literal) band of creatives, the club includes the Texas Playboys baseball team and the team’s infamous booster club, the Playboys Nuts. Together, they are an international community of civic-minded creatives — artists, filmmakers, musicians, writers, restaurateurs, rump shakers, taste makers, and purple rainmakers.
The 2022 season was an epic one for your Texas Playboys, garnering media attention in Sports Illustrated and Texas Monthly, among others. The internet was abuzz when Playboys’ co-founder and relief pitcher Jack Sanders gifted Warstic raconteur Jack White his first home run at the Long Time, the Playboys’ field of dreams in far east Austin. The momentous occasion was captured in The Austin Chronicle and on Austin’s KUT.

#STEPPINUPTOTHEPLATE
Sandlot baseball is an ethos not an expertise. It’s about the beauty of baseball, nice folks, attractive uniforms, hot dogs, real dogs, and, most importantly, good intentions. With that in mind, the Texas Playboys ask that all sponsors and advertisers will participate in the club’s annual service initiative, #steppinuptotheplate, either by weighing in on prospective donation recipients, through in-kind donations to game-day raffles benefitting a local cause, matching challenges, or by joining the Playboys for volunteer days and community outreach. The 2023 season fundraising goal is $75,000, to be distributed among ten nonprofits.
All sponsors and advertisers who contribute to #steppinuptotheplate will be recognized in the Texas Playboys’ biannual printed zine, The Long Times. And in the weeks leading up to each raffle, participants will be acknowledged on the Playboys’ social media channels, on the select non-profit’s socials, and in the Playboys’ monthly e-newsletter, The ShortTimes. The game day announcer will also publicly recognize the raffle contributions, all which will be artfully arranged by Elizabeth Pecore, owner of Basket Case Design, and prominently displayed on the Long Time stage.
