NBN fails to provide us promising we could have it. We have used Skymuster plus satellite which is very substandard.

Skymuster satellite long latency causes numerous problems.

Doing work online or even banking is problematic with dropouts due to the latency.

When there is a storm, we lose connection despite

what NBN says. We tried getting help through our local elected federal member but nothing of course.

So, we decided to try Skylink which is not NBN – it’s a separate satellite system.

Based on my experience my advice is if you cannot NBN then it’s well worth looking at this Skylink.

A few points about Skylink. I bought the devices and signed up in parallel to continuing Skymuster from NBN.

The Starlink deal was we could return it within a period for no cost or limited cost.

No instructions – that is poor in my view.

They expect people to be able to know what to do ie be tech savvy. Test if it’s going to work for you at your location.

Best advice is to get access to a phone that accepts the app and try it before ordering the system and signing up.

Installing the dish was not hard but instructions would be welcome.

Starlink is more expensive than Skymuster plus the up-front cost they hit you with. I ran both Starlink and Skymuster in parallel for a month.

It was clear that Starlink was just so much better, we have canceled NBN Skymuster. We are glad to be rid of dealing with NBN with Skylink.

I hope the above helps bridge the gap for those who need better internet than NBN can provide.

“Everyone’s stuck by me, it was supposed to be in October but everyone’s here,” Mrs Daetz said.

Medicare funds lag behind rising costs

CRITICAL shortfalls in Medicare funding have put pressures on practices and, in turn, patients.

Medicare indexation has not kept up with rising costs, necessitating the introduction practices, according to the Australian Medical Association (AMA).

Twenty hospital beds for forty-three thousand people in Lockyer

IN RESPONSE to the announcement of Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) coming to Ipswich and Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan called on the state and federal

government to fund a new regional hospital.

Cr Milligan welcomed the Australian and Queensland Governments’ plan to expand the UCCs, but added Lockyer Valley desperately required a new regional

hospital to cater to its growing needs.

“As it currently stands, approximately 20 available hospital beds for a population of 43,000 and counting is unacceptable,” Cr Milligan said.

“Anything less than a new regional hospital is a band-aid solution, and council continues to advocate strongly for this crucial infrastructure that would prevent residents from being forced to travel outside

the region to access basic public health services.”

The UCCs intend to offer alternative care for non-life-threatening conditions to relieve stress off emergency departments.

“The bulk-billed clinics…

will provide more health options for our residents, albeit in excess of a 30-minute drive away for many and with very limited public transport available,” Cr Milligan said.

Harvest-ival song writer records winning song

ARTIST Sammy Morgan

was busy recording her piece ‘Revolution Song’ at The Barn Recording Studio in Plainland on March 17.

Sammy won best original song at this year’s Harvest-ival Music Festival and was prized with an opportunity to record her song with music producer Steve Robin.

The Coominya based singer said her song aims to call for people to experience things on their own accord.

“I wanted to really speak to people about learning for themselves,” she said.

“To not just believe what

everyone’s telling them, but to go and experience something and not just be stuck in what other people are saying.”

Sammy said ‘Revolution Song’ wasn’t her original choice for the Harvest-ival, but the song’s lyrics spoke to her as the appropriate

alternative.

The Barn recording studio owner Steve Robin said the festival’s goal is to bring local music together.

“The whole point of the Harvest-ival is to bring some local people out and get them to meet and and try and centralise the scene,” he said.

Marburg networking event draws a big crowd for Ipswich and Bremer

Over 60 businesses from the Ipswich, Somerset and Lockyer regions attended a networking event held at the Marburg Hotel on Thursday 16th March.

The event was hosted by the Ipswich and Bremer Chambers of Commerce and brought together businesses from all industries to network, share experiences, and hear about what support is available to help them through the Chamber.

“We want to let businesses in the rural areas of Ipswich and the surrounding parts of Somerset and Lockyer know that they are not forgotten, that we are here to help if they need us” said Kit Philp, CEO, Ipswich Region and Bremer Chambers of Commerce.

The Chambers also launched their new network for the food, agribusiness and tourism sectors which they hope will provide a platform for businesses in these industries to identify opportunities to connect and grow.

Elly Rae Ross who represents the Bremer region on the Chamber of Commerce Board, spoke about the history of the chamber in the area and encouraged other local businesses to engage with the Chamber of Commerce and events that they run throughout the year.

“I love the networking events. I have met many lovely people and have the common bond of owning my own business. It’s a lot of fun and being part of the Chamber, I know that if I ever need advice they are there for me”.

In addition to this event, the Chambers have other networking and informational events planned for the year.

Veterans club helping brothers in arms

BY JESSE HAMILTON

THE Veterans Support Centre in Laidley has served armed forces personnel in the Lockyer and Brisbane Valley region for the past 15 years.

The club’s mission is to ensure veterans have assistance in place for their wellbeing, care and compensation.

They provide a wide range of support, from helping with a social venue veterans and their families can visit.

Club treasurer Andrew Black said the group met for a social get-together once a week.

“Tuesday is like a drop-in centre,” he said.

“It’s for people to drop in and have a chat, if they’re feeling down and out, we can give them some help or just to come in and have something to eat.”

Club president Vince

Pagett said the centre was an inviting place for all service personnel to come along to.

“A lot of the fellas in here are ex-Royal Air Force,” he

said.

“So they all know someone who knows someone from where they’ve been, so they have a great deal they can

talk about.”

Mr Pagett said people can book an appointment with the club for support with personal issues.

“We thought we don’t seem to be doing any good at the moment,” he said.

The ‘In Between’ Day

EASTER Saturday is the ‘in between’ day. It sits between Good Friday, the day Jesus died on the cross, and Easter Sunday, the day He rose to life again.

For the original followers of Jesus it was a day of uncertainty and grief.

they didn’t know how events

would resolve. They had to live in the uncertain space ‘in between’.

Depending on your view,

the ‘in between’ Saturday might see you focusing on the death of Jesus, that it was a horrible, but necessary way to overcome the power of death once and for all.

Or, you might be one of

the optimistic and positive people who look forward to Sunday and celebrating that Jesus rose and delivered on the promise of eternal life.

Commemorating the story of Easter

LOWOOD Trinity Lutheran Church welcomes all to participate in Holy Week and Easter services in a shared time of devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ.

Lowood Lutheran Pastor Ben Graham said Holy Week begins with a celebratory

“The focus of Palm Sunday is remembering Jesus and his disciples walking into Jerusalem to celebrate one of the Jewish festivals,” Pr Graham said.es on Easter Sunday when the congregation celebrates Jesus’ resurrection.

“Easter Sunday is when we celebrate Jesus as it’s being discovered that he’s alive,” he said.

Pr Graham welcomed all to come along to Holy Week as the church commemorates the week leading to the death and resurrection of Christ.

The roadmap intends to set the industry up for the future, secure market access and create value for growers, industry and supply chain customers.

To inform the roadmap, Cotton Australia invites local growers and industry members to complete an online survey.

For local growers, this is the chance to have your say on a number of topics that will impact your shared future, including:

Euro breeds just keeps improving

TOP QUALITY cattle will

be exhibited and go under the hammer at Bartholomew & Co Livestock Agent’s 18th Annual Beaudesert Euro Show and Sale on April 1.

Livestock agent Garth Weatherall said the lineup included ‘outstanding’ lines including Charolais- and Limousin-infused weaner steers and heifers.

It is an opportunity to come and see the best cattle both locally and from afar.

Scenic Rim’s weaners and it’s a chance for exhibitors to come forward and compete in the show side of it against some of the Scenic Rim’s best,” Mr Weatherall said.

Now in its 18th year, the quality keeps getting ‘better and better’ as vendors seek out top bulls to improve genetics.

“The cattle are getting better and better each year with

vendors going out and buying the better bulls each year,” Mr Weatherall said.

“See some of the best and take the opportunity to purchase lines of cattle that are bred with the best of

bloodlines.”

There are more than 500 cattle booked for the show and sale and cattle are in excellent condition this year.

“It’s not as wet as last year but the cattle have done

particularly well and they’re presenting very, very well,” Mr Weatherall said.

Exhibitors will have the opportunity to present their cattle for show and sale in six classes:

1. Pen of Steers Suitable for Future Export

2. Pen of Steers Suitable for Future Trade

3. Pen of Weaner Steers

4. Pen of Females Suitable for Breeding

5. Pen of Heifers Suitable for Feed-on

6. Pen of Weaner Heifers

The presentation begins at 9:30am at the Beaudesert Saleyards and the sale begins at 10am.

Bikes and 4WDs driving in memory

THE JACKSON Hepner Foundation Memorial Drive was held on Saturday March 25, with four-wheel-drive, classic car and motorbike enthusiasts riding from Mt

Hotel Motel to raise money for cancer patients.

Jackson Hepner was an apprentice carpenter from Woodford who passed away

rare bone cancer in 2021.

The Foundation was formed in his honour to help

families and patients dealing with cancer diagnoses, gifting them hampers and providing support.

On Saturday morning, around 300 motorbikes and 4WDs left Mt Archer for Harlin.

There’s one thing that unites all of us. Our natural instinct to protect and look out for one another. To step in, in times of need. To step up in the moments that matter. To react in a split second, when we know that every second counts. And we believe it should be no different when you drive.

That’swhywe developed Toyota SafetySense,and it’s designed toprotectusall.

foundation organiser Rachael Hepner said 600-700 people joined in the memorial drive and activities.

“We had the pig races in the afternoon and a merch tent that got absolutely smashed,” she said.

“The Harlin Hotel Motel

has been so accommodating, allowing us to camp out the back.”

Mrs Hepner said the party continued late into the night.

“It might have been Jackson letting us know that he was okay with the day.”

Participants also raised money through Containers for Change for Help Hudson Hear, an initiative proudly supported by Harlin Hotel.
