WHEN it comes to suicidal depression, Mike Nowlan has been there, done that, and he’s not afraid to talk about it.

Last week I had the privilege of attending one of Mike’s talks on mental health.

Mike’s a Laidley local, loves veterans’ cricket, and you’ll probably recognise his name from the column he writes for The Independent every month.

As a volunteer speaker for Beyond Blue, Mike’s a passionate advocate for men’s mental health and although I’ve heard

him speak several times, his message never lacks impact.

He speaks from the heart, he speaks from experience, he is frank with his own battle with The Black Dog.

I commend Mike on his work toward breaking the stigma surrounding mental health issues, particularly for men, and his bravery in sharing his

Valley Chamber of Commerce, a retirement village at Goodna, staff at Laidley Hospital, staff at John Deere Brisbane, teachers at Mountain Creek State School and members from Withcott Helidon Lions Club and Men’s Shed, to name a few.

Mike ends all his addresses and columns with ‘remember it’s not what goes wrong in your life that matters, what counts is how you deal with it.’

Whatever the cause however, it is clear that when the landscape is so dry it doesn’t take much to create a situation where life and property is threatened, not to mention thousands of hectares of bushland. That makes us ask the question: what happens when a rocket engine is tested at the Seventeen Mile Road facility, which is virtually metres from tinder-dry bushland?

There are actually two angles to be taken into account. Firstly, will authorities such as LVRC, QWPS,

volunteers be in a position should the operators and users of the site have a ditionally such a ban would outdoor situation.

The second point to be considered is from the point of view of the companies who use the facility. Can such companies a Gilmour Space Technol-

schedule their test days in place? Would they not be far better off developing a test facility with

limitations, well away from precious bushland?

Clearly it is an expensive exercise to test highly technical equipment and time constraints will always play an important role for organisations who seek to put their technology into orbit. Additionally, what non-existent economic

of bulk-billed health

In an article by Dr. Imaan Joshi in The Medical Republic, she stated, “the pitiful indexation rate that kicks in on 1 July has made the date a symbolic deadline for many GPs to start charging gaps.”

We are hearing more about the unsustainability of bulk-billing health consultations, the unviability of keeping general

era of rapidly rising costs, and the dearth of general practitioners and other health professionals ready, willing, and able to staff our country-wide primary and tertiary health centres.

Dr. Joshi suggested patients will either have to choose between ‘churnand-burn’ styles of medicine with potentially awful care, or budget for quality consultations with their chosen doctor at a viable practice.

This was brought home to me just last week.

My son is a Centrelink Disability Support pensioner receiving National Disability Insurance Scheme in-home and community access support. The Public Trustee of Queensland is appointed to look after his

My son’s family carer took him to his usual GP who always had bulk-billed his consultations. Without prior advice, following his consultation, my son was asked to pay an up-front fee of $60 with $40 claimable back from Medicare.

When asked why, the practice receptionist told the carer that they no longer bulk-billed for persons with disability, but continued to do so for aged pension recipients. Is this not discriminatory, as both cohorts receive the same amount of income support from Centrelink?

As PTQ has hold of his money, my son’s Centrelink approved carer had to pay the total amount out of his own meagre pocket, then wait while PTQ considered reimbursing him.

two of our most vulnerable populations!

Surely it’s time the federal government and our doctors’ associations come to the table and debate a more viable reimbursement rate for our under-resourced and under-paid doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals. After all, they were the ones who brought most of us safely through the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Renewed hope for Inland Rail, Gatton

REPRESENTATIVES from the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) met with Lockyer Valley Regional Council (LVRC) in a ‘positive and productive’ meeting to discuss council’s concerns surrounding the Inland Rail project on November 17.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Tanya Milligan said she was ‘cautiously optimistic’ ARTC were now listening to local concerns.

“I left the meeting with greater optimism the ARTC

community with the respect and dignity they so rightfully deserve and am hopeful this signals a change in cooperation to reduce the impacts on our region,” she said.

ARTC representatives including interim Chief

“ARTC has regular consultation meetings with the LVRC, as it does with other councils along the alignment, to help us understand local concerns and preferences,” an Inland Rail representative said.

“At the November 17th

Help kids get ready for school

BETWEEN the rising cost of living and the ongoing housing crisis, many local families need a little extra help getting the kids back to school next year.

The Lockyer Community Centre’s Back to School drive is underway.

Centre manager Linda Roberts said the drive helps year fully equipped and ready to learn.

“We’re encouraging people to support our local families and support us in equipping their children,” she said.

“The cost of living is

“We’re encouraging people to make a donation along the line of maybe a backpack, or a pencil case, or a lunch box or cooler kit, or some non-perishable healthy school snacks,” Ms Roberts said.

Ms Roberts said the centre has had an over-abundance

of text and exercise books in the past.

Instead, consider donating a voucher.

“That can be in the form of a voucher from Shoe Collections, or a Kmart voucher,” she said.

“We’re trying to widen the scope of the support that the

project gives this year. “The idea is that we give them one or two little material items and then also

Esk lights up new community Christmas tree Kilcoy Art Society December events

A LITTLE Christmas magic came to Esk on Saturday, thanks to the Esk Elves and the community.

The new Christmas tree in Memorial Park was lit on December 3 and the town came out to celebrate with a special visit from Santa.

Esk Elf Ken Wyatt said numerous people contributed to make the Christmas tree a reality.

“Yes it’s about the Christmas tree, and lights, and kids, and all the rest of it, but it’s also about community,” Mr Wyatt said.

“I’m a big believer in community, it’s the one thing we need more and more of.

“Anything that helps build it or maintain it is just gold.”

Mr Wyatt, who grew up in Esk, said Christmas celebrations had gone through several iterations in his time

but there had not been a town-wide celebration for a handful of years.

“Last year I thought we need to get some lights and some community energy happening,” he said.

The Esk Elves banded together and fundraised for a

metal tree decked with lights to be erected in the park.

Somerset Regional Council provided a grant, it was sponsored through Esk Lions, and businesses donated to a

“To get here hasn’t just been a matter of buying by the community. “Hopefully next year it can go on to bigger and better things.”

IN DECEMBER each year, the Kilcoy Art Society Inc (KASI) invites volunteer artists to showcase their artwork in a combined exhibition, as Artists of the Month.

This moth’s artists are Wendy Houston, Carol Robinson, Ann Caporn, Noela Lowien, Jim Purcell, Kris Wheeler, Lynn May, Michelle Ledwith, Leonie Shirley, Margaret Pearson, Larry Rollason, Di Taylor, Dawn Evans, and Cameron Hooper.

Along with the Yowie Country Markets, KASI will hold their last Art and Craft market stalls on The Lakeside Deck on December 10 from 8am.

KASI’s last Foggy Friday will be on December 9.

Textile artist, caterer and chocolatier Wendy Houston will demonstrate a wonderful range of simple and impressive

Christmas foods and will show how to make decorations and wrappings, with a hands-on activity.

The Kilcoy Courthouse Art Gallery will be closed to the public Thursday 15 and Friday 16 December

and will reopening on Saturday December 17.

In-home care options for Somerset

SOMERSET Assist Inc. is a new community not-for-profolder Esk and Toogoolawah residents the option for inhome care.

They have partnered with Trilogy Care, a nationally registered home-care package provider, and Mable, a platform connecting people who need support to local people who provide support.

Somerset is the eighth community in Queensland to embrace the community-managed care model, based on the thriving town of Bell on the Darling Downs.

Somerset Assist inaugural president Lyn Buchanan said older residents are often unaware of the services available to help them stay in their home.

“Even if they navigate the My Aged Care application process, they often miss out on getting the correct level of support they need,” Ms Buchanan said.

Vice president and care coordinator Julie Hayes has worked in disability care for more than 30 years and has spent the past half year connecting with older residents to organise their My Aged Care packages.

“Part of my job is to go to hospitals, introduce myself and talk to the community health nurses, GPs around Toogoolawah and Esk,” Ms Hayes said.

“We’re passionate people about the older residents in Somerset who can see the desperate need, we live in the community and have been aware of this… and this is a great opportunity.”

Once they are on the package, managed by Trilogy Care, residents gain access to local workers, engaged via Mable, who can provide various personal care and social support services.

Ms Buchanan said interested workers need to be over 18, have an ABN, need to register on Mable and pass the Mable police check, and

wish to provide personal care support.

“Every few days we’re getting more people wanting to be a contractor,” she said.

“We’ve got a whole range

Contractors include enrolled and registered nurses, gardeners, personal carers, transport workers, social supporters, cleaners and more.

Treasurer and local businesswoman Ruth O’Dowd said she was excited by the prospect of younger residents being able to work with the older community through Mable.

“I love that idea of the youth looking after older peo-

ple, I just love it, because I think both together can share and care and really form a beautiful relationship,” Ms O’Dowd said.

Ms Buchanan said the program provides employment for school leavers and people already providing personal care for loved ones.

Mable Queensland com-

Brad Grieve said he was impressed with the Somerset Assist team and their connection to the community.

“It’s a huge economic driver for small communities, the value of home care packages being able to engage a local workforce to provide those services rather than the traditional larger corporate providers means that money now stays in town rather than heading out to the big or Sydney.”

Untold stories brought to light

THE Federal Parliament has passed amendments to ensure up to $200 million a year in disaster funding is available to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters and get ready for future emergencies.

Creating the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF) was

Budget and passed into law last week.

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann said by better preparing for natural disasters we can protect lives and livelihoods, reduce insurance premiums, and lower damage cyclones.

“The Disaster Ready Fund will provide up to $1 billion important disaster mitiga-

tion projects,” he said.

“I was pleased the Budget has already allocated funding from the Fund for local disaster readiness projects, including $4 million to upgrade the Ipswich Showgrounds and improve amenities for a new emergency relief centre, delivering on my election commitments.”

Mr Neumann said the

DRF transforms the former Emergency Response Fund into a dedicated ongoing source of funding for natural disaster resilience and risk reduction initiatives.

“The fund will provide up to $200 million per year to invest in mitigation projects

evacuation centres around Australia,” he said.

“We’ve already started extensive consultation with state, territory and local governments and as well as with industry around what projects we can focus funding.”

Funding for natural disaster recovery efforts will also continue through other sources.

John always comes back to the Trail

JOHN Hopwood has travelled great distances across eastern Australia with his donkeys.

His donkey trekking travels started in 1990, exploring the whole of the Conondale Ranges, inland from the Sunshine Coast.

“I spent seven months

pack donkeys after making all my own equipment and training the donkeys,” John said.

After a failed attempt to start an ecotourism business in 1990, he and his new partner Lynette decided to go on an adventure.

“We’d learnt about the National Trail in 1990 and we both left our corporate jobs,” John said.

“We sold absolutely everything and then headed south along the National Trail from Kenilworth.

1991 with four donkeys and planned to travel the Trail until they decided it was time to stop.

They would camp in tents, or stay with the odd farmer here and there.

“We continued south for a whole year, walked 3,500 kilometres,” John said.

“We did quite a few de-

“At one point we walked all the way down to Dorrigo and back onto the Trail in New South Wales.

“We explored the Blue Mountains quite thoroughly,

the Southern Highlands, and we eventually ended up in Canberra and got on the front page of the Canberra Times.”

During their travels John and Lyn promoted the newly designed Trail, only three opening in 1988.

“We were pioneering and promoting it and stopping in at all the schools and village halls, we’d muster people together and explain what the National Trail was all about,”

John said.

The pair stayed in the

sented complete isolation and remoteness where we entertained tourists,” John said.

forced the couple to edge back into civilisation.

“We ended up moving all up and down the eastern side of Australia and I would take my donkeys wherever we went and we’d go trekking,” John said.

John went on to become the national coordinator for the National Trail from 1998

to 2003.

More recently he has made himself at home in Fordsdale in the Lockyer Valley.

“I knew Ma Ma Creek, it’s one of those names that never leaves your memory,” he said.

“The original Trail, before destroyed Ma Ma Creek access, we would come down the whole length of Ma Ma Creek from Stockyard Creek and you would have to camp

at Fordsdale at John and Bev Sutton’s place.

“It wasn’t until I moved up here 18 months ago now, I saw someone cycling down the road here and I rechecked my maps and realised the Trail had deviated since 2011 to come over Sawpit Gully Road and then down Spinach Creek Road towards Fordsdale.

“It was an amazing coincidence… I didn’t realise, here I was back on the National Trail.

“We’ve got here one of the longest recreational Trails in the world and it’s completely voluntarily run and funded, no government assistance.”

John helps trekkers and cyclists on the trail, providing a pitstop where they can rest, clean, and eat.

He said he has always loved the Lockyer Valley.

“This area, from Blackbutt the greatest diversity of landforms and biodiversity,” John said.

“It’s a really interesting area, the Lockyer Valley, that’s why it needs to be preserved.”

He has reached out to neighbouring landowners to sign them up to the Lockyer Upland Catchment Incorporated, a land care group.

“We want to have a continuous line of properties running through the Great Dividing Range to help link up koala habitat and glossy black cockatoo habitat.”

John still keeps donkeys to this day.

Helping Lockyer locals hear better

FIDELITY Hearing opened its new home-base in Plainland yesterday, Tuesday December 6, and it’s kitted out with a steel-reinforced sound-proof room.

The independent hearing clinic’s owner and founder, audiologist Wesley Ong, said the testing facility would allow Fidelity Hearing to provide accurate treatment for its customers.

“We’ve created this because Lockyer Valley residents need the leading standard of healthcare, and the space,” Mr Ong said.

“The advantage is we can create our own controlled environment which is great for testing and we can also create simulated environments, like controlled background noise for speech and noise testing.”

Senior clinician and audiometrist Graham Headley said the chief complaint of people with hearing loss is they struggle with background

noise.

“It’s not something that’s well-done in Australia, it’s just an accepted thing that people with hearing loss will struggle in noise,” Mr Headley said.

“Being able to test for it

and reliably show improvements with technology is super important.

“The patient would then normally make tweaks that we think are correct and then have to go to that environment and come back and tell

us which is so much more time consuming if we can simulate the environment and make those changes in real time for them.

“If you say you struggle in Porters across the road, then let’s simulate Porters and put

some background noise in here that’s like a restaurant.”

Mr Ong said the facility was fairly rare, heavy, and together.

“I hired this Hilux, we

truck and you see the suspension buckle and we were like ‘stop!’” he said.

“Being a local family-owned business. we have got a lot of friends and family involved, all chipping in and getting involved.”

Mr Ong said the Lockyer Valley had become a second home since founding his business.

“We love the friendly country hospitality, we love helping the large number of pensioners out here and pensioners,” he said.

“Most clinics are multinational hearing aid companies which are very sales-driven, so having small companies in audiology is actually a rare

Renau Koleos a competitive SUV

AT THE end of October 2022, Renault Australia was up 37.9% over the same period last year, with the popular Koleos leading the charge, with sales up 72.7%.

Now Koleos has been refreshed for MY23 with the upgrades to the Life & Zen model lines, and the addition of a new Zen 4x4 variant.

Renault Australia General Manager Glen Sealey said Koleos was the backbone of the Renault passenger car brand.

“And while our new the horizon for this market, these additions to the Koleos range allow us to continue to provide Australians with safe, stylish, well-equipped and value for money premium SUVs,” he said.

Koleos blends European design with the kind of functional features Australian

families demand. With its signature C-shaped lights, reclining rear seats, active emergency braking system, intuitive touchscreen with Apple CarPlayTM and

Android AutoTM connectivity, and 5-year Easy Life Ownership programme, Koleos already has a competitive edge in the segment. Every MY23 Koleos

continues with the proven 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 126kW at 6,000rpm and 226Nm at 4,400rpm, and the X-tronic CVT automatic transmission.

Performance for the 4x2 variants will see 0-100km/h dispatched in 9.5 seconds while sipping 8.1L/100km; for the 4x4 models these

8.3L/100km respectively.

Now, with the arrival of the new 4x4 Zen variant,

in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, while the addition of new standard safety and comfort features double down on the premium value-for-money proposition that has been a Koleos mainstay.

As with every Renault, Koleos enjoys the 5-Year Easy Life Ownership programme that includes a 5-Year Unlimited Kilometre Warranty, 5-Year Roadside Assistance, and 5 Capped Price Renault Services costing $2,750 over the term.

“The SUV segment continues to be the most dominant segment and these enhancements to the Koleos range will ensure we remain competitive,” Mr Sealey said.

Pricing starts at $37,000 RRP plus on road costs.

December 5-11, 2022

ARIES

The week starts with the Sun, Mercury and which revs up your Ram motor. But remember Mars is retrograde so, if you are too hasty, you

and pace yourself! Thursday’s Full Moon is a good time for a brilliant light-bulb moment. You certainly have the ideas and passion to get an ambitious project off the ground. Now all you

it.

TAURUS

The Full Moon urges you to shine a bright

values. Do you need to let go of certain people, possessions or attitudes that have passed their use-by-date? And be careful that your main form of entertainment isn’t shopping. Mars is still retrograding through your money zone, so your bank balance (and budget) won’t appreciate a shop-till-you-drop kind of week. The weekend stars favour walking, hiking and biking in nature.

GEMINI

This week’s stars emphasise the constant balancing act between individual needs and relationship responsibilities. The Full Moon and retrograde Mars (both in Gemini) emphasise the need to conserve your energy and prioritise personal projects. Whereas the Sun, Mercury and Venus shine a bright light on your partner, relatives, friends and/or colleagues. Are you meeting their needs, as well as your own? An achievable challenge for a multi-tasking Twin!

CANCER

You’re keen to daydream the hours away in your cosy Crab cave, as retro Mars and the Full Moon illuminate your solitude zone. But – as you retreat into your private world – make sure you can differentiate between fact and fantasy, otherwise you’ll end up in a confusing mess. A work project needs to pass the Practicality Test. So try to balance being idealistic with being realistic. And don’t make serious commitments unless you’re certain you can keep them.

LEO

When it comes to hopes, wishes, close relationships and your peer group, the more will be. A realistic and disciplined daily routine will also help you to pursue your dreams and achieve your goals. Do your best to show extra kindness and compassion towards a friend or family member who’s going through a tough time. The things they are dealing with are more serious and complex than you previously thought.

VIRGO

Work and home life look rather chaotic, as retrograde Mars and the Full Moon stir up your career and domestic zones. Expect the week to be messy and disorganised (and you might get distracted and make some frustrating mistakes) but try to keep things in perspective. Accept disruptions with good grace and adapt accordingly! So your motto is from fellow-Virgo, entertainer Beyoncé: “If everything was perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow.”

LIBRA

This week your aspirations zone is activated by the Full Moon … but retrograde Mars is there as well. So you’re focused on your ambitious hopes, dreams and wishes for the future … but they will take a while to manifest. So your mantra for the moment is from this week’s

entrepreneur Walt Disney: “All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them.” And the patience … and the persistence!

SCORPIO

The Full Moon highlights the resources you share with others. Whether it’s income, property, business or relationships, all joint endeavours must be closely examined. And you also

es. You won’t require much encouragement to shop up a storm, as retro Mars slows down

spontaneous spending gene. So be careful you don’t blow a big hole in your Christmas budget.

SAGITTARIUS

With the Sun, Mercury and Venus visiting your sign, retrograde Mars, and a restless Full Moon, you’re in adventurous, freedom-loving mode. Limiting rules, regulations and restrictions will not be welcome! But slow down, Sagittarius, otherwise you could be involved in an argument or accident. Inspiring quote is from Sagittarian music great Jim Morrison (who was born on December 8, 1943): “The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are.”

CAPRICORN

The Full Moon’s activating your wellbeing zone, so jump off the comfy couch and get moving! Nutritious meals are also on the celestial menu, as you take more interest in your health and more pride in your appearance. If you

voice, then it will point you in the right direction. Mercury and Venus are also moving into your sign, and this power-packed duo will boost communication, creativity and concentration.

AQUARIUS

Take a good look at your close friends and current peer group. Do they encourage you to be the quirky, avant-garde Aquarian you were born to be? Are they supporting your talents and championing your dreams? It’s also a good week to tackle a creative solo project, as the Full Moon energises your self-expression zone. Inspiring quote is from music icon (and birthday great) Jim Morrison: “A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself.”

PISCES

This week you could feel confused or discouraged, especially when it comes to a family matter or a professional issue. But escaping into a fantasy world won’t make problems magically disappear. As the week progresses, do your

tions to current challenges. The gap between dreams and reality is wide but – with plenty of patience and persistence – you’ll eventually get there. COPYRIGHT Joanne Madeline Moore 2022

TOOGOOLAWAH BOWLS CLUB

Thursday 1st December we were rained out and therefore had an RBDO. Saturday 3rd December we hosted the crew from NUTRIEN for their Christmas party. A very hotly contested game of barefoot followed by a barby and refreshments made for a very pleasant evening, and we are sure everyone enjoyed the party.

On Sunday 4th December we had 14 players playing 2 games of Singles and 1 of Triples vying for the Closest Winning Margin. Winners on the day were, Phil Gregory, Lyn McWhirter and Ian Bradow. Runners up were Len Smyth and

CRICKET

LOCKYER CRICKET

Ipswich Community Competition.

Two further games of the T20 component of the competition were held at Ivor

Marsden last Saturday. In the early game against Brothers, the Valley Vikings strolled home, reaching their target of 106 only one wicket down. Josh Reisenleiter was the bowling weapon with 4-11. With the bat, Brock Zischke 71, and Kelsey O’Dea, 31 didn’t need their team-mates to pad up. In the late game, it was a different story. The Vikings were on the wrong side of some 50/50 decisions, which tilted the game away from them. Only Josh Reisenleiter got going, with an impressive 32, but a score of 112 was never going to be enough

concludes at Cahill Park on Saturday, with the Vikings looking for competition points before the Christmas break.

Big Bash for Lockyer

In a major coup for Lockyer Cricket, a full round of the Ipswich Competition

scheduled for 3 and 10 December. Ipswich has redrawn its competition to provide a full round of T 20 matches over successive weekends, by scheduling both morning and afternoon games. On Saturday 3rd December, all matches were played at the Ivor Marsden complex in Ipswich, while this coming Saturday, all matches will be played in the Lockyer, in recognition of the Laidley Blue Dogs and the Valley Vikings. Laidley will host two games at Bichel Oval, while Lockyer will host four games at Cahill Park, using both the No 1 and No 2 Turf Wickets.

When the Valley Vikings entered the Ipswich competition they promised they would bring Ipswich Cricket to the Lockyer. But, it was never imagined that the entire competition with all six teams would be here together on the one Saturday. It is a rare festival of cricket and a feast to delight all cricket fans who can witness the fast action from quality players. In the morning game on No 1, the Valley Vikings get a return tilt at the Northsiders Tigers, who pipped them with a one run, last ball victory at Cahill park one month ago. A high octane encounter is assured. It will be followed in the afternoon with the highly credential

Lockyer Valley but the T 20 festival exceeds expectations. Cricket fans should take a look. If it is a success, it could become programmed again.

Young and old invited to be a Yowie

THE KILCOY Yowies are back.

After two years in recession, the Kilcoy Yowies Rugby League Football Club began sign-on on Thursday December 1 for both its senior men’s team and its new junior division.

Secretary Alana Yarnold said she and her partner, president Rob Fischer, moved near Kilcoy three years ago with their two sons who play out at Stanley Rivers RLFC.

“It was frustrating that we said.

The couple joined the club six months ago and brought their enthusiasm with them.

Treasurer Patty Bleakley said Kilcoy has not had a junior team for 30 years.

“There’s a lot of kids wanting to play football but mum and dad work and they can’t get them to Woodford

Viking Hoger selected for Queensland Brahmans

FOLLOWING the XXXX Country Challenge between North and South Queensland at Mackay in late November, Valley Vikings gun all-rounder, Regan ‘Reggie’ Hoger has been selected to represent the Queensland Country Brahmans, at the National Championships

in January.

In a South Queensland side that was well beaten twice by a dominant North Queensland side, Reggie stood tall with two quality stints in the middle, backed with a strong, if not rewarding bowling performance.

He was one of only

three from the South to gain the top honours.

He came to recognition early in Gatton, being selected for Mitchell Shield at age 18.

His rep journey started with selection in the SEQ Bulls Masters side in October, followed by Schaeffer Shield Selection

for SEQ; followed by South QLD selection for the XXXX Cup; and now selection for the Queensland Country Brahmans, the highest honour in Queensland Country Cricket.

As much as it is a success for Reggie personally, it is a

cricket.

In their inaugural season, the Valley Vikings have produced a Queensland Country player.

Reggie Hoger will take the best wishes of the Lockyer Valley with him to Canberra in January.
