In summer 2015 I interned for the Faroes // Danish Avant Garden fashion brand, Barbara Í Gongíni . During my stay at the company, I along with the other interns, developed showpieces for the brands upcoming fashion show broadcasting SS16 collection. The showpieces where UP cycled pieces, made out of scraps from older garments from the brands collections.

Further on into my internship I also designed a knitwear collection for their upcoming AW17 collection. One of the garments that I created was approved into the brands AW16 collection and I was hired into the company as a freelance knitter. Every piece is hand made carefully, as I´ve been developing my own techniques and craftsmanship skills from an early age.

Since then I´ve developed styles, along with Barbara í Gongíni, for their SS17 collection. Which was showcased for the first time at an old warehouse , which had been arranged as an fashion show venue for the brand, during Copenhagen fashion week //August 2016.

And up to this date I´m currently finishing the final prototypes for AW17

AS NOTHING IS EVER PERFECT The SS16 showpieces where developed in order to reuse old material from the studio.

AW16 KNIT WEAR

SVARTISANDUR // BLACK BEACH On the south coast of Iceland near to a village called Vík in Mýrdal, you can find a beautiful beach called “Reynishverfi” by the locals // for other its more recognized by the name Black beach on Vík. When visiting the beach you will come across sculpted stones that rice from the routs of the mountain, these stones are called Reynisdrangar.

That is something so magical about how the nature has sculptured the stones, into these graphic forms that almost look like man made objects. I experimented and manipulated yarn in order to recreate the natural pattern of the stones. Along with creating a new sort of pattern, the styles have a thread to Barbara í Gongínis previous collections. The black beach sweater is my interoperation of how the Reynisdrangar appeared to the viewer.

THE PERFECT MIRROR TO MY SOUL The SS17 collection was developed in order to allow the material to spiral, and create its own way. From one thread to the next one. Featuring this cocoon effect in the garment. Emphasizing on the structure of the female body, embracing it and allowing it to develop on its own.
