Keep employees productive this summer

A

s a specialized employee benefit and property and casualty consulting firm and insurance provider, Better Business Planning, Inc. continually offers more than Illinois group health insurance solutions to the more than 700 clients it serves. It offers much needed risk management analysis. Employee productivity can have a huge impact on business risk in the summer time. That’s why the employee benefit consultants at Better Business Planning, Inc. have put together these top three ways to keep employees productive and happy this sum-

mer, in order to mitigate risk to Illinois employers: 1. Flexible Schedules In a recent survey conducted by OfficeTeam, 41% of the employees polled chose flexible schedules as the most coveted summer benefit. Offering a flexible summer work schedule could minimize distractions, especially for working parents with children out of school for the summer. 2. Early Leave on Fridays 28% of survey respondents said leaving early on Fridays was the best summer benefit perk. As summer is a time when many employ-

ees daydream about being elsewhere and enjoying the nice weather, early leave time on Fridays could encourage employees to work harder the rest of the week so they can enjoy more time with their families on Friday afternoons. 3. Company potlucks and picnics 11% of employees who took the survey said company activities such as a picnic would be their most desirable summer benefit. Company events are a good way to encourage bonding and solidarity among employees. It can also encourage emotional engagement, which is known to increase productivity.
