What

You’ll Do:

Day 1 1 Complete the Hook Exercise

2. Introduce the DBQ Question

3 Write DBQ question on chart paper and post in highly visible area of the studio

What You’ll Need:

For Learners:

● 3-hole punched copies of the DBQ Hook Exercise

● DBQ binder*

*All learner documents should be housed in a DBQ binder If a learner is absent, please add their documents to their binder

For Guide:

● Educator Guide version of the Hook Exercise (with answers)

● Anchor chart paper

Day 2 1

Review the DBQ question (reference anchor chart in studio)

2 Read the Background Essay

3 Annotate the Background Essay as you read, defining unfamiliar words, and highlighting information that may help answer the DBQ question

Day 3, PART I 1

Review the DBQ question: ensure learners are clear on what they are looking to answer using the documents

2 Complete Pre-Bucketing: identify potential answers to the DBQ question based on information found in the Background Essay

For Learners:
