Every civilisation has ushered to

its successful merits with repetitive up and down or back and forth linear motion. One of the factors that could make this venture a possibility is a novel attribute possessed by humans - The Art of Un-Learning!

Being one of the most intriguing phenomena, unlearning has set the world in a transgressive motion, propelling a socio-intellectual development.

But did you ever imagine what triggered this change? Some might dig up historical bibliographies to scout for the reasons that made human society evolve into its deserving entitlement. But the prominent question asked by the global forum is, "What made humans cross the barriers and become a possibility to reject their own limitations, unlike other species?"

Discovering answers to these questions, many scientists, evolutionists, and bio-physicians dipped their noses into the social architecture of human beings and later elucidated the world with insights into the human mind. Upfronting these marvels of society, it became significant that nurturing the psyche at an earlier age can enhance as well as bolster socio-economic development. Realizing such an objective, a German psychologist - Wilhelm Wundt, established the very first psychology laboratory in 1879. This has been a remarkable step in the world of psychology. Spreading its wings to every corner of the world, psychology has paved the way for many professions, many theorists, and a few critics too!

As it set foot in God's own countryKerala - in the Indian sub-continent, it found Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth as its harbor. The deemed to be university facilitates ancient, contemporary, and modern knowledge of psychology to its students, researchers, and professionals, which is ultimately revamping the world for the better.

Spearheading this transformation is the university's Vice Chancellor – Prof. Ajay Kapoor . Known for his inclusive

Our Gurukula model enables students to solve contemporary challenges while guiding them to leave a positive impact on the world as confident and cultured contributors to socio-economic development.

and standout leadership, he has exemplified the true meaning of 'success through excellence.'

Let's take a walk through the enlightening journey of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth and learn the art of educational leadership!

From Inception to Excellence!

Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV) was conceptualized in 2016, the birth centenary year of the inspirational and visionary founder of Chinmaya Mission, who is not only a renowned Vedantic master but also a teacher par excellence, Swami Chinmayananda. CVV was notified as a Deemed to be University under the ' de Novo' category on16 January 2017.

CVV has been a renowned torchbearer for the preservation of Indian cultural heritage and its knowledge traditions through higher education. Briefing about the college operations, Prof. Ajay Kapoor says, "We are currently operating from two campuses: the main campus, known as the Chinmaya Eswar Gurukula (CEG) campus, is located at Adi Sankara Nilayam, Ernakulam, Kerala, and the second campus, called Chinmaya Naada Bindu Gurukula (CNBG) campus is located at Chinmaya Vibhooti (Kolwan, Pune, Maharashtra) "

The institutes' core mission is to blend India's ancient and time-tested wisdom with present-day knowledge fields. Striking a careful balance between the

conventional and the new, the University offers common streams of programs with unique electives and supplementary subjects with an intent to mold the youngsters of today into well-rounded, responsible, valuegrounded young adults who contribute to the nation and the world at large.

The University has commenced its intensive campus development on a 50-acre plot acquired nearby in Onakkoor, Ernakulam, and is succeeding towards quality education while stepping ahead into the future.

3 Pillars of CVV's Success

Like every educational institute built on a foundation of its ethos coupled with a farfetched vision and mission of spreading knowledge, CVV has proved

to be the torch bearer in the psychology discipline. Known for academic excellence, Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth is known to adhere to its principles while facilitating quality education.

Mission: As a Deemed to be University, the institute envisions exceeding excellence in higher learning and research to explore, conserve, and share the contemporary significance of Indian Cultural Heritage and Indian Knowledge Traditions (IKT). CVV aims to integrate the practices of modern pedagogical advances with the beauty of the traditional gurukula model of learning.

Conventionally, students were only guided to take clinical and industrial psychology. But there are upcoming areas like Neuropsychology, Forensic Psychology, Educational Psychology, Sports Psychology etc. Students can also be guided to take up these branches.

The Pandemic PIVOT Entrepreneur WOMEN

India is on a mission to become 'Atmanirbhar'. But is it possible without women's participation, considering women constitute nearly half of India's population, 48%?

Women entrepreneurship has the potential to transform women's economic roles in India. Currently, there are 13.5 to 15.7 million womenowned businesses in India, representing 20% of all enterprises. They own mostly single-person businesses and directly employ an estimated 22 to 27 million people. When provided with equal access to inputs, women-owned enterprises have the capacity to produce equally strong economic outcomes when compared with enterprises led by men. Accelerating the expansion of womenowned businesses, both in terms of quantity and scale, has the potential to create 150 to 170 million jobs in India by 2030. This will necessitate a multistakeholder approach that is integrated across multiple dimensions, including the government policy, finance and investments, and formal and informal mentorship.

COVID-19 is one of a kind in terms of the magnitude of its impact, as it is a humanitarian disaster that has disrupted both supply and demand in the global economy. While all firms must pivot their business models in times of turbulence, lowering risk while grabbing new possibilities, this is especially difficult for women entrepreneurs, whose enterprises are concentrated in the areas most badly

and the

impacted by the shutdown. Those running their retail businesses like salons, boutiques, daycare centers, etc. faced a complete shutdown, and some of them had to empty shops because of their inability to keep paying the rent.

This COVID-induced she-cession has important implications. The task is to get through the immediate effects of fracturing while also designing medium-term measures that will empower women. The COVID-19 pandemic may have brought the Indian economy a little bit closer to the longawaited prospect of extensive female participation.

Women are increasingly turning to entrepreneurship as a means of achieving economic independence and a higher social status that allows people to recognise and value their skills and abilities. Women's entrepreneurship has been driven by the relaxation of social barriers combined with economic reforms in the country over the previous two decades (post-liberalization era). According to current trends, the majority of female entrepreneurs work in micro and small businesses.

Unlike earlier times when they were confined to very limited small businesses in the form of small shops running salons, boutiques, catering and food stalls, cretches etc. today's women entrepreneurs should be commended for their increasing investments, increased use of contemporary

technology, for venturing into the export market, for providing significant employment for others (especially more women), and for setting the example for other women entrepreneurs. The band of women who has attracted attention is professionally educated, with access to contact networks and resources, and so, in theory, capable of launching larger firms. There are three categories of these women entrepreneurs: those operating at micro levels and are solopreneurs running their own shops, those functioning through Self-help groups, and those who are start-up founders.

The emergence of the pandemic has resulted in considerable disruptions in business. Due to unprecedented pandemics and lockdowns, the businesses suffered, and even some of the women entrepreneurs had to temporarily close their businesses. Due to the closure of schools, offices, markets, transportation social distancing, their business suffered a lot. They also had to resort to staff cutting to reduce their cost, but managing it has been challenging.

But COVID has impacted their businesses, not their spirits. In a survey conducted by Bain and Co. of 350 women, entrepreneurs from urban India revealed some encouraging findings. According to the survey, 90% of women entrepreneurs believe that they will be able to survive the crisis. 54% have already changed their

Pedagogies Inside Psychology Colleges

The curiosity of knowing the human mind completely has been the wish for years which has taken a lot of transformations and shifts in the educational sector. It has given birth to the subject of psychology which studies the human mind and its functions in detail. With the rise of psychology, many unopened doors have been opened and explored to discover humankind's yet unknown functionality.

A study has shown that between 1.2 million and 1.6 million undergraduates take introductory psychology classes each year. The number might keep on increasing every year as many students are becoming aware of the subject and its speciality. Also, many colleges have been constructed for the study of the same.

But what are some pedagogies inside these colleges?

Delve in for the information.

Study through Behavior Behaviourism states learning as an observable behavioural change that happens in response to environmental stimuli. Positive, rewarding stimuli establish positive associations between a particular behaviour and the reward, and these prompt a person to repeat the same behaviour. Moreover, negative stimuli that are punishments discourage the behaviour that is related to those stimuli. These conditioning processes teach people to repeat or avoid certain behaviour.

Behaviourism also helps the ways and the sequence used in the teaching and

IIf you observe the behaviour of humans closely, then you would understand that humans are very curious creatures to ever walk on this planet Earth. Talking about curiosity, what do you think about the very known thing that humans have contemplated yet have only managed to explore or just scarfed the surface of it?

Yes, you guessed it right, it is the human brain that drives the curiosity yet is the most unexplored territory that is yet to be fully understood and explored. That is the reason some human actions cannot be justified even by science.

If you look up for quotes or definitions of psychologists, you will surely come across the anonymous quote that states, "Psychologist is a man who watches

everyone else when a beautiful girl enters the room."

Many of the prominent thinkers from the ancient world have made an attempt to study human behaviour and psychology. Though they have only scratched the surface of it, they have laid the foundation of psychology and discovered some of the most interesting facts about the natural computer chip that resides in our foremost cranial cavity.

Given the curious nature of humans, there are many people who have wandered off in an attempt to dedicate their life to psychology. While such growing interest in humans helped in discovering various hidden facts about the brain and its socio-psychological behaviour, many efficient psychology colleges have been established.

In India, where tradition, human nature and culture move all together with human progression, psychology has played a crucial role in developing this incredible country.

Catering to that need for growth in the bracket of psychology, Surana College was established, and today it holds the position of being one of the leading psychology colleges in the country.

Establishment of Surana College of Psychology Surana College was established in 1995 as a part of Surana Educational Institutions governed by the GDA Foundation. Over the years, it has crafted its way to being one of Bangalore's leading colleges with

world-class academics, inspirational teaching and an inspiring track record of student employability.

In this incredible college where students study the nature, functional and behavioural patterns of our very own human brain, the college management has curated the atmosphere in a way that transmits something more that is more than just a degree. The college philosophy is about its people, a friendly campusbased lifestyle, new engaging experiences, broaden outlook and intellectual discovery, all placed at the heart of the 'Garden City' .

The Inception Story of Post Graduate Department of Psychology

After bringing significant progress of educating students in the field of psychology and addressing the increasing interest in the field of psychology, the college management decided to introduce and spread their wings for further studies. Talking about the inception story of Surana College's post graduate department of psychology, Dr Archana Surana says, "The Post Graduate Department of Psychology was established in 2003 attracting some of the bright minds to study, teach and undertake research here. With over 20+ University ranks to its credit, it's no coincidence that we are consistently among the top colleges in the country for Psychology programs. Our teaching is inspired by our stupendous research and core belief that psychological science can help people improve their lives."

The 2-Year Courses Offers the following Specializations: Ÿ Clinical Psychology Ÿ Child Psychology

Organizational Psychology

A Self-competing Track Record

Since its inception, Surana College has

served over 40,000 students and has been re-accredited by NAAV with an 'A+' Grade. The institute offers eight distinct degree courses along with five postgraduate courses.

Moreover, the college has made a name for itself among aspiring psychology students as a renowned college for honing the students' overall skills and has produced over 50 university ranks and some of India's best sportspersons, musicians, and theatre artists.

Vidyadhanam Sarvadhana Pradhaanam

Surana College has been incepted on its core value of ' Vidyadhanam Sarvadhana Pradhaanam ', which translates to 'Education is the supreme of all wealth'. Sharing the institute's vision Dr Archanan Surana, the Managing Trustee, says, "Our vision is to be the educational institution of preferred choice by ushering convergence of knowledge, skills and values through holistic education. With a mission to Mould Character and Careers, one of core value being 'Vidyadhanam Sarvadhana Pradhaanam' ."

The Scholarly Leader

Dr Archana Surana, the inspiration behind the Surana Educational Institutions (SEI), is a dedicated educator working to provide everyone with a high-quality education. She has received the 2015 Network 7 media house jury's Most Valuable Women Educationalist and Reformist award for India. She is an advocate for education, a benefactor, and a social worker.

In the pharmaceutical business, where Dr Surana started her professional career as a "Director", she made a significant strategic and financial contribution to the organization's growth over a ten-year period. She is a

Bhawribai Surana Charitable Trust member and the managing trustee of the charitable trust GDA Foundation. She has worked for a number of orphanages, taken part in NSS's rural development initiatives, and promoted the "Social & Eco" movement.

Preparing Self-reliant and Independent Thinkers

Being a prominent college of psychology, Surana College has recognized the need to treat every patient differently and in a way that would help the person sitting on the other side of the table. In that farsighted vision, the institution prepares its students and transforms them into self-reliant, independent thinkers who are capable and socially helpful citizens of the country, imbued with ideals to give back in their own small way to society.

Expressing her views of the learning outcomes and course objectives, Dr Archana Surana says, "The appropriate balance of freedom, responsibility, and discipline is provided to students on

campus. The institution promotes interdisciplinary and lateral thinking in research to question existing knowledge and life paradigms. The pursuit of entrepreneurship is also encouraged. The Surana's does not accept donations; instead, we charge a reasonable price for a high-quality programme. The institution's benefit has been offering co-education."

Developing a 360° Psychological Perspective

Psychology is not just limited to science and study of brain and human behavioural patterns, but it is an art of connecting in a better way with the patients and helping them. That is the reason student involvement is in the key functioning at the college, even in extension activities, community services and sustenance of the academic environment.

Highlighting how the colleges take that extra mile to make their students complete psychologists, Dr Archana Surana asserts, "Acceptance from parents and the general public has been a huge help to the college's operation. Visitors offering pats on the back, advice, and inspiration include academics, soldiers, professionals, and well-known people. The corporate sector, service sector, and sociocultural institutions value having college students work for them."

"The team is aware of how critical it is to identify and develop various levels of leadership from a 360 ° view. The learning outcomes have been improved and ensured by a positive academic interaction between teachers and students. The institution's efforts to retain and preserve the love of learning have been successful. The Management's strong backing and effective departmental coordination make the institution proud," she further adds.
