PARIAN SA BINONDO: A CHINESE FILIPINO CULTURAL CIVIC CENTER UNDERGRADUATE THESIS

In the modern day Binondo, there is a growing need for a center that offers an avenue for community engagement, cultural immersion, and education. Elements of progress and development are essential to a nation’s survival and existence, but so are culture, identity, and heritage.

Binondo is not complete without its sea of lanterns. Its lanterns, similar to its people , and this project, are a symbols of hope that emerged from an unprecedented blend of cultures. Binondo cannot evolve without its people, and Parian Binondo will serve as the lantern that will guide its people towards a better, stronger Chinese Filipino community.

The dougong system is one most recognizable symbols of Chinese architecture. Translating simp roofs and floors. It is no surprise then, that this distinct design and structural feature was broug of Chinese culture itself.

The traditional dou, gong, ang and other parts of the system were broken down and explored individually.

A design module was created from the new design, and added as a supplementary element in the proposed structural system of the building.

KALSADA COFFEE: PROPOSED PRODUCTION EXPANSION CLIENT: KALSADA COFFEE COMPANY LOCATION: CALIKING, BENGUET, PHILIPPINES PROJECT YEAR: 2019 As a response to contextual contraints unique to the site, The Kalsada Coffee Company aims to disrupt the conventional producer and consumer relationship in coffee production by optimizing the economic benefit for the producer as well providing the highest quality of philippines specialty coffee for the consumer.

A proposal for the expanded production line, which involves the design of a drying bed structure and wet mill is proposed as a pragmatic solution to the unique needs of the company.

THE VISAYAN FORUM: HOME FOR ABUSED WOMEN AND CHILDREN CLIENT: THE VISAYAN FORUM LOCATION: QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES PROJECT YEAR: 2017 WORK DONE UNDER: ECHAVEZ-LEWIS GROUP Visayan Forum is a non-profit, non-stock and non-government organization in the Philippines established in 1991. VF works for the welfare of marginalized migrants, especially those working in the invisible and informal sectors, like domestic workers, and trafficked women and children.

The project calls for a small complex that serves as a temporary residence of rescued female abuse victims.
