The summer months are quickly approaching and there is a lot of exciting, purposeful work happening that is advancing our initiatives to strengthen our core, reignite growth and improve clinic level profitability.
FROM SANJIV'S DESK
President and CEO, Sanjiv Razdan
Our new MVP mobile app will officially soft launch on May 30! This is an incredibly exciting achievement for our brand that is the result of several months of development and testing. Thank you to the Marketing, IT and Operations Teams at the CSC for their commitment to creating an excellent mobile app experience for our patients. I’d also like to thank the partners from across the system that helped bring our vision to life, including franchisees Jason Collier, L.S. Carper, Dan and Dorit Kjaergaard and Noah Stone from the NFAB Tech Subcommittee, the Wellness Coordinators and doctors selected to our AXIS User Group and the 56 clinics that participated in the “Friends and Family” beta test. More details and support resources can be found on page 14
From the start, the new mobile app was designed to prioritize how our patients want to interact with our clinics, and every effort has gone into making sure it will be clear, easy to navigate and supportive of their needs. All of our initiatives must keep our patients as the central focus. By keeping them at the heart of everything we do, our business will grow, profitability will follow and everyone will win.
Then, on June 2, we will begin the “Buy 5, Get 1” Wellness Sale . This is our opportunity to extend savings to our existing patients and invite them to recommit to their treatment plan. Last year, the promotion exceeded overall sales goals by 19 percent, and I am confident that we will find similar success in 2025. Please review the Promotion Guide and other supporting materials as well as some best practices from topperforming clinics during last year’s sale on page 12
I am excited to welcome Andra Terrell and Eric Wyatt to our Executive Leadership Team . Andra is our new Senior Vice President, Legal and is an innovative legal strategist with two decades serving franchise systems. Eric has 30 years’ experience in franchise operations at numerous national brands and joins us as Senior Vice President, Operations and Patient Experience. Both are exceptionally qualified, dynamic, collaborative leaders ready to help us execute our mission and vision.
I recently traveled to the Chicago market with our CMO Lori Abou Habib and our Senior Vice President of Development, Craig Sherwood. We had a wonderful time visiting some clinics and witnessing firsthand the efforts of our doctors and Wellness Coordinators. These interactions continue to be incredibly valuable, and I am very grateful to the franchisees and clinic teams that hosted us.
Finally, our next Monthly Pulse is on Thursday, June 5. This is our opportunity to check in on the pulse of our organization and share progress updates on some of our key objectives.

Marketing Excellence Award Winners Share Strategies that Deliver Local Impact
Atlanta-area franchisees
Dan and Dorit Kjaergaard received the 2024 Marketing Excellence Award for exhibiting all-around excellence in marketing their clinics and the brand to their local community. Their consistent, “always on” approach has strengthened their brand presence in their local community and has delivered strong lead generation and New Patient counts.
A driving force behind their marketing execution is Marketing Manager Michelle (Mich) Ramos, who began working for Dan and Dorit in July 2023 as a virtual assistant from her home in the Philippines. Initially, she helped with AXIS audits and patient communication through Carbon. Now, she manages social media strategy, posting and engagement and monitors online performance for their three-clinic portfolio.
“I love to work at The Joint because every day I learn and witness something amazing,” says Mich. “From the wonders of chiropractic to patient success stories to the passion and hard work of the doctors to the dedication of the management, every day is just as exciting as the first day of work.”
Social Media: Post Local and Post Often
One of Mich’s main responsibilities is to source images, videos and other content from their clinics and repurpose it in order to post consistently and keep their social media pages fresh. She provides clinic teams with clear instructions for the content she needs, making it as easy as possible for the WCs and DCs to execute.
Then, Mich uses SocialPilot to plan and schedule 50-60 pieces of content per clinic per month across Instagram, Facebook and Google My Business. They focus on using as much in-clinic content as possible and supplement with boilerplate content to continue feeding the algorithm.
Recently, Mich has become responsible for managing a budget for each clinic in order to boost content based on engagement to elevate beyond organic reach.
Creating Local Awareness Through Community Events
Dan and Dorit are proactive in hosting local events and community engagement activities, such as Customer Appreciation Days for clinics needing a boost.
In lieu of collecting leads at these events, Existing Patients are invited and encouraged to bring a friend or family member that could benefit from ongoing chiropractic care. Mich posts about the event on social media while the inclinic team communicates it to patients with flyers. They also reach out to neighboring businesses for raffle prizes and giveaways.
They typically see about 30 New Patients at the event and convert around 60 percent into plans or packages. They also see a lift in New Patient counts in the weeks and months following the event.
Consistency is Key
Dan and Dorit focus on building a strong local social media presence through consistent, frequent posting and developing connections within their local community to grow brand awareness. These tactics, combined with Mich’s strong organizational skills and curiosity, are creating stronger relationships with patients and delivering measurable results.
Ultimately, however, the Kjaergaards believe that staying the course and continuous effort around local marketing strategy is the foundation for success.
“Consistency is the keyword. That is the most important thing,” said Dorit. “Successful marketing is not about always having the best or most creative idea. It’s the legwork of ensuring the message comes out all the time.”

TRAINING DEVELOPMENT
Franchisee Profile: Kevin Bock
The Joint Chiropractic – Mount Dora (FL)
The Joint Chiropractic – Clermont (FL)
Kevin Bock was introduced to The Joint Chiropractic after visiting with his wife who was dealing with shoulder pain. It made a real difference for his wife and, he soon discovered, his college-aged daughter who had been a patient for two years after hurting her back.
Kevin opened his first clinic, The Joint Chiropractic – Mount Dora (FL), in April 2022, then opened The Joint Chiropractic – Clermont (FL) in July 2023. Both clinics achieved GO Elite and he anticipates opening a third clinic in 2026.
“Follow the processes, procedures, and protocols— consistently. Success doesn’t come from one big move, but from doing many small things right every day,” says Kevin. “Stay focused, stay disciplined, and set your sights on reaching GO Elite.”
Kevin is on the Board of Directors and is a Chamber Ambassador for the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce. He can be seen driving his The Joint wrapped vehicle throughout his local area and leverages social media, especially Facebook Groups, to post about the positive impact of The Joint’s services. His efforts have significantly increased his clinic’s visibility and strengthened its ties to the community and his dedication led to his selection as a finalist for the 2024 Franchisee of the Year Award.
Kevin previously ran a ski club, but admits it was the free trips and not passion for the sport that drove that decision. He also worked at Sea World as a walrus pusher. “Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like,” he notes. He also once spent time with former President George Bush at his family home in Maine.
MVP Mobile App Targets
Soft Launch on May 30
The Joint’s new MVP mobile app is targeting a soft launch on May 30!
Over the past several months, the Marketing, IT and Operations teams have collaborated to develop, test and refine the app’s features and functionality. Valuable feedback from the 56 clinics that participated in last month’s “Friends and Family” test was also instrumental in preparing for the app’s release.
The MVP mobile app will include the following features:
• Clinic Locator: Patients will be able to search for the clinic nearest to them through a mapbased function that is easy to navigate.
• Doctor In Clinic: Displays the doctors that are working in a particular clinic that day.
• In-Clinic Check In: In lieu of scanning their key tag, patients can check in for their adjustment and be entered into the queue via the mobile app. This feature uses geofencing so that the option to check in becomes available to the patient once they are within a certain proximity of the clinic.
• Push Notifications: Sends basic notifications to patients about promotions, clinic news, and more.
What is a “soft launch”?
Once the app is available for download, patients will primarily learn about the app’s availability directly from clinic teams. Franchisees and clinic teams are encouraged to invite their most active Existing Patients to download and begin using the app.
Mobile App Talking Points Resource Guide: Refer to this one-page informational sheet for recommendations on when and how to inform patients about the mobile app.
Download the Mobile App Talking Points Resource Guide on FranConnect
Otherwise, patients can discover the app on their own by searching in the App Store (iOS users) or the Google Play Store (Android users).
The Joint will collect feedback that will help refine in-clinic processes and identify best practices ahead of the full promotional launch scheduled for July 1. A full range of marketing and advertising tactics will be developed and deployed to support the promotional launch.

Now Available: Support Guide for “Doctor In Clinic” Mobile App Feature
The MVP mobile app will allow patients to check if their favorite doctor is currently working in their local clinic prior to arriving.
To support The Joint’s DCs with this new functionality, a support guide has been created and includes an overview of the “Doctor In Clinic” feature, log in and log out procedures and additional best practices. The guide also addresses a discrepancy that was identified during beta testing and the update that was deployed to correct the issue.

• Print out the Quick Reference Guides on pages 10 and 11 of the Mobile App Guide for Clinic Staff and keep these at the front desk and by the doctor’s computer. This ensures they are easy to access and reference!
Success Starts Here! How to Get Ready for the Soft Launch
In the April issue of BackBone, we shared recommended actions that franchisees and clinic teams can complete now to make the upcoming mobile app launch a more seamless experience for patients.
We encourage everyone to review the items outlined below and complete the requested actions ahead of the soft launch.
1. Franchisees: Confirm clinic coordinates for “Patient Check-In” feature. If you have not yet provided accurate GPS coordinates for each of your clinic locations, please do so! This will ensure that patients can check in via the mobile app correctly. CLICK HERE to watch a video that demonstrates the process for providing clinic coordinates. CLICK HERE to access the submission form and input clinic details.
2. Ensure patient names are accurate in AXIS . Patients will be connecting their apps to their patient record using their legal first and last name. Additionally, patient names will auto-populate in the mobile app. It is crucial that any clinic notes, nicknames or other extra language is removed so that only the first and last names are displayed. As part of daily clinic activity, when you come across a name field with extra verbiage, please take the time to update accordingly.
3. Begin collecting patient phone numbers and email addresses when creating patient records in AXIS. Mobile app functionality will be tied to these fields and collecting this information now will create less work when the app is available for all patients. This information should be collected with all New Patients going forward. Teams may also start collecting this information for their long-standing patients who may be utilizing the app in the future.
We will continue to communicate updates, metrics and ongoing reminders throughout the soft launch period.
The MVP mobile app will provide our patients with the features and capabilities that are most important to their in-clinic experience. By committing to a smooth launch experience, we are committing to offering our patients a highquality digital experience.

Great work, team!
DC Profile: Dr. Ryan Baack, D.C.
The Joint Chiropractic – Spring Creek (TX)
Growing up, Dr. Ryan Baack, D.C. suffered from various sports-related back injuries and chiropractic care helped him the most.
“I was absolutely mesmerized by the fact that someone could help me so much with just their hands and not wanting to perform surgery or prescribe medication,” he says. “I love being able to help people and use my own body to provide benefit to others.”
Dr. Baack completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Northern Iowa, then received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. In his early career, he worked in a variety of clinic settings but always felt that the clinic’s bottom line was prioritized over the health and wellness of the patient.
In 2016, he began working at The Joint and loved that he could finally focus on what matters most: great adjustments and great patient care.
Dr. Baack became PC of The Joint’s Denverarea clinics in May 2024 and his outstanding dedication, leadership and passion led to his selection as the 2024 PC of the Year!
“Dr. Ryan's dedication and passion are truly contagious, influencing everyone who has the privilege of working with him,” said Alex Hanson, Chief Operating Officer for franchisees Phil and Erin Davis. “His unwavering commitment to his craft, combined with his ability to elevate both the WC’s and Doctors, has had a profound impact on the entire team since he took on the role of PC.”
In his spare time, Dr. Baack is a sports junkie and a pitbull lover. He is a proud “girl dad” and is expecting his second daughter in August 2025!
Chiropractic Connections: Building the Brand Across the Country
The Joint proudly sponsored Sherman College’s annual Lyceum, connecting with approximately 200 attendees, including practicing doctors and Sherman College students and faculty.
Our presence was focused on engagement, networking and fielding questions about careers, preceptorships and franchising with The Joint. We wanted to convey the message that The Joint is not only the largest chiropractic organization in the world, but also an accessible and supportive career path, especially for students entering the profession. We spoke with many students about job opportunities after graduation and informed faculty about The Joint serving as a preceptorship site to give students real-world experience with a diverse patient population.
In one instance, the team met a retired chiropractor who shared how much he missed patient care after recently relocating. We were able to explain that The Joint offers opportunities for semi-retired or retired doctors to work part-time or as coverage doctors, and his face lit up with excitement about the possibility of returning to patient care.
Our participation in the event allowed us to share a space with students just starting their careers and those rediscovering their place in the profession, and all can consider The Joint as a possible next step.
Thank you to franchisees Mici Fluegge and Dr. Patrick Greco, D.C. for attending the event and representing the brand!
