Annual Report for 2013
Oslo, 8th March 2013
We arranged 7 own events and participated in several others through advertising, networking, and one with financial support. Our costs met our expenses, and we strengthened our ability to support worthy causes within our purpose and scope. To facilitate insight and improve transparency, we switched to accounting by journal and spreadsheets, easily accessed by all members. During 2013 our society had 24 individual-, 32 family- and 8 corporate paying members, representing more than 200 people interested in cultural exchange and Japan. The Activities of the Society February 1st (Fri.) New Year Party We celebrated new year at City Center Hotel 2nd floor with 40 participants. We are fortunate to have an excellent, real “Sommelier of Sake” in our midst as member, Mrs. Kaori Ishii, and we enjoyed her lecture on the Art of Sake Brewing and had the pleasure of tasting both rare and high quality sake, including one from Norway by “Nøgne Ø” in Grimstad. Afterwards we enjoyed buffet from Sato Japanese Dining. February 17th (Sun) The Ski Day Sporty 15 of us on skis enjoyed the gentle slopes and beautiful woodlands of Østmarka, in beautiful weather and among many happy families on tour in the woods. Our picknick in the snow and afterwards warm stew at Skullerud Lodge was masterly arranged as before by Keiko Moriguchi and Kjell Kvammen. February 28th (Wed.) AGM at the Embassy with lecture on Japanese Film. Once again the Embassy of Japan generously hosted us. 29 members attended the General Meeting in the comfortable cultural center at the embassy. We enjoyed a lecture on Japanese Film 1950 - today: A short introduction", by Henrik Bardum. June 12th (Wed) We had the opportunity to participate in an evening cruise on board the old steamer ”Børøysund” sailing around Oslo Fjord by Maritime Technical Society and “TEKNA”, where many us are members. A beautiful evening on the fjord on this restored ship, one of the oldest steamships still sailing, was enjoyed by 8 of us in good company with shrimps & beverages.
