Motion design refers to the visual art of creating animated works using graphic or digital animation in which motion is used as the main graphic and artistic tool. Motion design opens up a world of creative possibilities with a result that can be figurative or abstract, realistic or stylized. It can be made up of filmed content (including stop-motion animation and clay animation), drawings, painted media, typography (kinetic typography), graphic elements (shapes, textures, colours, patterns) or synthetic images, animated by hand or computer. It can be pre-planned and broadcast as a video file or produced in real time, in which case it can be interactive (interactive art) and/or partially random (generative art). Motion design can offer content that is textual, narrative, descriptive, symbolic, spiritual, philosophical, propagandistic, advertising, educational or cinematographic.

VIDEO MAPPING Video mapping is a multimedia technology used to project light or videos onto real objects, to recreate large-scale images on structures (such as monuments) or to recreate a 360° universe. Using specific softwares, shapes are drawn and reproduced to achieve large-scale video projections that replicate the chosen location as closely as possible. Video mapping is often used for nocturnal performances.

VJING & PROJECTION MAPPING Projection mapping is the use of video mapping to create a performance in real time that is synchronized with live or prerecorded music. A video jockey (i.e., VJ) is a person who creates a visual animation to be projected without any additional indications regarding the techniques used or the graphic choices made. VJing is a broad term that refers to visual performance in real time. VJing involves creating or manipulating an image in real time using technology in front of an audience, in sync with music. VJing is often part of an events put on for concerts, clubs and music festivals and is usually associated with another artistic performance. This creates a multimedia performance that may include music, entertainers or dancers performing at the same time as the live or pre-recorded video.

“READY-TO-JAM” In a nod to the world of “ready-to-wear” fashion, ready-to-jam refers to animated sequences created by motion designers belonging to “The Jam Project” artist collective. The colours and rhythms of these original sequences can be modified as necessary to suit a particular situation. Several sequences can be put together for a high-quality projection. Ready-to-jam was created to give our clients an immediate and budget-friendly solution.

PERFORMANCE ART Performance art is a multidisciplinary medium or artistic tradition that can be traced to avant-garde art movements from the first half of the 20th century such as futurism, Dadaism, surrealism and the Bauhaus school. Artists used performance to break down established categories and carve out new directions. The piece may be presented alone or in a group, with lighting, music or visual elements created by the artist alone or with collaborators, and produced in unique venues such as art galleries, museums and “alternative” spaces. A performance may be performed once or repeatedly, based on a scenario or improvised.
