DOROTHY L. WILSON SUMMERTON — Dorothy Loretta Wilson was born July 7, 1953, in Clarendon County, to the late Judge and Jannie Bell Wilson. On Friday, March 14, 2014, God called her home to rest at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. She was predeWILSON ceased by one sister and two brothers. Survivors are one son, David (Diane) Wilson; five grandchildren; eight sisters; nine brothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Summerton with the Rev. O’Donald Dingle, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. EMMA D. MOORE Emma Abrams DesChamps Moore, 54, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 17, 2014. She was born July 3, 1959, in Sumter County, to Lillie Mae Bradford Abrams and the late Ernest Lynburg Abrams. She received her education in the MOORE public school system of Sumter County. She was employed by Target Distribution Center. Her survivors are her three children, Latoya Deschamps (James) and Katasha Deschamps, both of Mayesville, and Delvyn (Enwar) Deschamps of Fairborn, Ohio; her mother, Lillie Mae Abrams; five sisters, Nancy Gilliam (Joseph), Juanita Wilson, Beverly Abrams, Dora McFadden (Nathaniel) and Betty Lois Lenard (Felix); six brothers, Charles Abrams, Leroy Abrams, Michael Abrams (Barbara), Sammie Abrams (Odell), Ronnie Abrams and Clayton Abrams (Natasha); five grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A son, Julius Deschamps, preceded her in death. The family will meet and greet from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 315 W. Fulton St., Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. James Blassingame, pastor, Elder Rickey Mickens, eulogist, assisted by Evangelists Julia Knox and Sylvia Miller. Bernice Perry Holliday, 86, widow of Doc Holliday, died Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, at Hospice HOLLIDAY House, Raleigh. She was born Dec. 20, 1928, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to the late James Wallace and Pattie Perry. She was educated at Lincoln Grammar School and New Rochelle High School in New Rochelle. She later pursued a career in nursing and worked at New York Infirmary Hospital, retiring in 1981 after 27 years. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in New Rochelle. She later joined First Calvary Baptist Church and Enon Baptist Church in Sumter. She later relocated to Angler, N.C., and joined the First Congregational Church of Raleigh. Survivors are two sons, Samuel (Lillian) McNeill of Angler and Dr. Kamae (Jeannette) McNeill of Rochester, N.Y.; one sister, Beatrice Priouleau of New Rochelle; one adopted sister, Beulah Jones of Staten Island, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-greatgrandchildren. Celebratory services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hayes F. & LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, with the Rev. Donald R. Ingram Sr., pastor of First Congregational Church, Raleigh, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Sumter. JULIA J. BOYD Julia Blondell James Boyd, 78, widow of Marion E. Boyd, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. Born June 6, 1935, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Sam Jr. and Julia Fairey James. The family will receive friends at the home, 1286 Captains Log Road, Pinewood. SAMMIE LEE OLIVER MANNING — Sammie Lee Oliver, 76, husband of Christine Pearson Oliver, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning. He was born Feb. 27, 1938, a son of the late Harry and Sarah Green Oliver. The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1125 K.W. Hodge Road, Manning. TARA D. GRAHAM OLANTA — Tara Demetria Graham died Monday, March 17, 2014. TYRUS ARCHIE Tyrus “Stymmie” Archie, 33, departed this life on Sunday, March 16, 2014, in Sumter County. He was born July 15, 1980, a son of Mattie Archie Wright and the late Albert “Sam” Brooks. He was married to Tiffany Lewis Archie in 2007. He attended the Sumter County public schools and graduated from Lakewood High School Class of 2000. As a youth, he followed in his father’s footsteps and developed a love for baseball. He continued his love for the game as an adult with the Expo’s Explosion baseball team of Wedgefield. He was employed by Harkins Moving & Storage Co. He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Mattie A. Wright; wife, Tiffany L. Archie; four children, Deontrae Charles, Tylaiah Archie, Tyraiana Archie and TyAvia Archie, all of Sumter; six siblings, Kevin (Latoya) June of Wedgefield, Alfreda (Eric) Archie, Tony Wright of Sumter, Gayle Bradley of Columbia, Thomas (Shontel) Wright of Atlanta and George Archie of Trenton, N.J.; a nephew and niece reared in the home as his siblings, Antione Bradley and Venitra Robinson of Wedgefield; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Public viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Job’s Mortuary. Mr. Archie will be placed in the gymnasium of Lakewood High School at noon Saturday for viewing until the hour of service. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lakewood High School (gymnasium), 350 Old Manning Road, Sumter, with Elder Barrington Pierson, pastor of St. Paul Holiness Church, Sumter. RICHARD JENKINS Jr. Elder Richard Jenkins Jr., 74, husband of Shirley Ann

FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 2014 West Jenkins, departed this life on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia. He was born Jan. 15, 1940, in Sumter County, to the late Richard Sr. and Blanche Taylor Jenkins. The family will be receiving friends at the home, 867 Whatley St., Sumter. ANNIE LEE T. JOHNSON Mother Annie Lee Thomas Johnson, 87, widow of Deacon Leroy Johnson, departed this earthly life on Monday, March 17, 2014, at her home in Bishopville. Born July 18, 1926, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Lee and Leola Boykin Thomas. She was educated in the public schools of Washington, D.C. Mother Johnson later moved to Bishopville, where she met and married Leroy Johnson. She was an active member of Phifer Temple Church under the leadership of Elder Robert Phifer. After his passing, Mother Johnson became a member of Mt. Calvary Holiness Church. Knowing she could not merely attend church, Mother Johnson became active in the church and established a choir of young people known as the “Sunbeam Choir.” In 1979, Mother Johnson was ordained a licensed minister by Dr. Emma McBride, pastor of Fellowship Disciples of Christ Church, Brooklyn, N.Y. Soon after her calling to ministry, she founded and pastored Bible Way Holiness Church in Sumter, until she became ill. Her later church attendance was Lightwood Knot Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Mary Price. Because of dedication to the will and plan of God, Mother Johnson leaves a legacy of prayer and worship to be celebrated by three children, Kenneth (Hattie) Thomas, Evangelist Leola Johnson and Lonnie (Dora Lee) Johnson; one adopted daughter, Susan Robinson; one daughter-in-law, Mary P. Johnson; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends. She will also be greatly missed by four great-grandchildren who were instru-

mental in helping with her care, Ja’Maurion, Cha’Niyah and Shakvra Johnson and Zinashia Samuel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Leroy Johnson; three children, Queen Ester Johnson, Sarah Pouge and Lucius Johnson; and one grandchild, Lucius Johnson Jr. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lee Central High School auditorium, 1800 Wisacky Highway, Bishopville, with Pastor Michael Woodham officiating and Evangelist Leola Johnson, eulogist. The family will be receiving friends and relatives at the home, 850 Lightwood Knot Road, Bishopville. The remains will be placed in the auditorium at noon. The procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. from the home. Flower girls will be granddaughters. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Burial will be in Cooksfield Cemetery, John D. Heriott Road, Dalzell.
